What Do You Thin Of My Writing Style/tone

What are the types of tone in writing?

"There are many types of tone used in writing, and some of them are:
joyful, exciting, depressing, funny, miserable, serous, light-hearted, threatening, optimistic, pessimistic, ironic. "
Narrations is not a form of tone, narrative and informative are...

If you have to write a newspaper article about a man who drowned and his body was found 8 days later half chewed up by sharks you can do it INFORMATIVE: "A 67 year old man, by the name of John Franklin, resident of Boston, went missing while on a trip with his family to Los Angeles. Authorities and volunteers searched the area where he was last seen for nearly 6 days until his body was found on shore severely disfigured and dismembered by what coroners have determined to be a shark attack."
THEN YOU CAN DO IT NARRATIVE: "Los Angeles will always be a bad place for the Franklin family after loosing one of their own to a grueling attack. After just a couple of days of what seemed to be a fun and happy time, John Franklin, father, husband and grandfather, went missing in an out of character move. 5 days later the Franklins would come to know jus how dangerous the California waters can be when the mistery was solved and John's body was found... etc."

I KNOW THE EXAMPLE MIGHT NOT BE GREAT IN CONTENT BUT IT WORKS IN FORM, JUST TO HELP YOU SEE THE DIFFERENCE.. the informative trys to stay with the facts and not add any flowery stuff, the narrative trys to be more elaborate, tell you a story and sometimes you can notice the authors opinion or feelings in the writting... hope it helps

What is the Gothic writing style?

The Gothic term in books is the tone that you receive from reading it. Gothic never lies in the setting of the novel such as a hounted house, or a graveyard. One may write a book about a hounted house but he or she may fail to make his/'her wording and tone dark and depressing, instead his writing/wording/toning may seem rather cheery and gleeful.
What makes a gothic book is the tone and style of writing, along with the setting, make the overall mood of your story dark.

Edgar Allan poe executes this perfectly, if you read the Tell Tale Hearts, the story is amazing, he is able to create a psychotic, gothic and sinister book that keeps the climax rising with every sentence. This story left me breathless.
When you think about it, what makes a gothic song sound so good? Is it the lyyrics? Sometimes, but if the depressing lyrics can be sung in a different tone and it'll sound more like an emo song rather than originally intended. But, when sung with the right tone of voice, it'll send chills down your spine.
Take for instance, The band Evanescence!
Take Amy Lee and swap her for someone like Britney Spears or Beyonce, what will the outcome be? Not good, i can tell you that.
It all lies within the mood created. Give a dark tone, wording, descriptions, meaning and setting and you have a gothic tale.

R. I. P. Edgar Allan poe, a true literary genius and master of the dark writing.

How to change your writing style online?

If you have a predictability problem, it's probably not style as much as experience, which can only be gained through work. But if you want to fiddle with your friends, you first need to look at what you write and how you write it, and then deliberately choose some other form of expression.

At this point, your best options are to study and read. Study spelling, grammar, and syntax; read to expand your vocabulary so you can use bigger words properly.

Be warned—this is not something that happens overnight. You will have to spend months on this, and years if you only make the occasional effort to improve.

A hundred times yes.I like how you write so honestly and openly about all the struggles you go through, and then do a 180 and spin it into something motivational, so people can be inspired by your work and maybe even relate to it.You're clearly a great person who doesn't deserve all that bullying and shit, but the way you persevere can help others do the same. I know it has certainly helped me and will continue to help me, even if I've never been bullied or anything as extreme.Just keep doing what you're doing, 'cause you're doing great.

Writing Style of Little Women?

Hi everyone!
I have to write a 10 paragraph report on the book Little Women, and I've gotten 9 of the 10 done. The last paragraph i have to do asks to Describe the style of the writing: consider its tone and figures of speech, etc . I am confused on what my teacher is asking for and i've tried looking online and asking people who read the book and everything. Can someone help me out here? Thanks!

Does everyone have their own writing styles?

Do you have to change? Absolutely not! Get your own style, let everybody else's fade from your mind. The reason I don't like to read most author's first novel, is because often they're just getting in touch with their style, and frankly, it's terrible because they're trying to copy other author's styles. Get in tune with your "simple" style. Simple can be better. For example, what would you rather read? "The Help," or "The Canterbury Tales?" Compared to "Canterbury," "The Help" is much, much more simplistic. Though, if you ask me, I would rather pick up "Help" any day!

There is no style specific to genres. I mean, except for kid's stories, which need to be easier reads. Harry Potter, Twilight, The Lord of the Rings, and Eragon are all fantasy, but all very different in style. As far as age group goes, again, it doesn't matter. Unless your style is something like, "Mike jumped on the couch. He saw his cat. His cat's name was Sammy. Mike petted Sammy's head." I'm pretty sure there's no such thing as too simple.

Be in tune with your own style, and make it rock! Be awesome with your own style!

A writer usually employs a formal language in such writing to create an elevated tone. It is free of slang terms, idioms, etc. It is normally composed to address the significance of great personalities or events, even almighty God. It is a dignified style of writing.

Shoutout to Alexander Fortier for the A2A.My writing style on Quora is a fair bit more conversational than my style in fiction writing, but the same bones are still present in both--I use em dashes pretty liberally in both my Quora writing and fiction work, for example. I'd say my Quora content is a little more witty, but the novel I'm writing has a rather somber tone overall, which means my usual wit would be a tad bit out of place. My fiction writing style is fairly concise, but not nearly as concise as that of Hemingway. I wouldn't describe it as terse, laconic, or pedantic, either. I've been told that it flows well and that I use sentence length to great effect. If I had to pick a few adjectives, I'd probably go with flowing, thoughtful, and, uh, character-driven?I have a hard time analyzing my own style. Analyzing the style of other writers is much easier, because I was actually taught to do that in English class. They don't teach you to analyze your own writing style. Maybe because they operate under the assumption that a bunch of high schoolers don't have a writing style. Bold of them to assume that all kids hate to write. But, like I said. Flowing, thoughtful, character-driven, sparsely sprinkled with lame attempts at being witty. I sometimes see wordplay as a game, but this Quora answer has probably already told you that.

How would you describe Margaret Atwood's writing style & tone?

She's a type of feminist. Most feminists I know (including myself) are more egalitarian than Atwood, and in fact, I find her portrayal of men in The Handmaid's Tale to be sexist. 'Feminist' is a term that encompasses everything from 'women and men are equal and should be treated as such with neither being discriminated against' to 'raging man-hater'. Luckily, in recent years, the former kind is becoming the norm. While I do think it's important to draw attention to the inequality of women/the way women are treated, I think Atwood takes a bit far. Then again, by making so many of her male characters sexist and exploring the limits of that kind of behavior, she's showing the potential consequences of sexism if it's allowed to go unchecked, and by extension, the potential consequences of any sort of unfair discrimination. ('Fair' discrimination is, say, the candidate with the best qualifications getting a job.) Remember, too, that it's not the author's job to resolve the matter, it's the author's job to tell a story. Authors can, and often do, resolve issues, but ultimately it's up to the reader to decide their stance and whether the author is right or wrong or partially right. I enjoy her writing style, but I take her ideas about sex and gender with a lot of salt.
