Do you HAVE to match your shoes with your outfit?
Etiquette class will teach you to match your shoes with your bottoms (skirt or pants). But fashion bible says, not matchy-matchy, but mixy-matchy! Depending on the look that you're aspiring, if you're still a lil conservative, just make sure that there's at least one other item with the same colour (could be an accessory or a print on your clothes). If you embrace quirkiness, let them all get mixed up. The tip is, remember to only mix "warm" colours with "warm" (yellow-based hues) and "cool" with "cool" (blue-based hues). Purple features pretty much on the runway these days (check out some of Michael Kors' latest designs and Lanvin's). So go ahead with your purple flats! I'm sure it'll stand out :)

If you aren't wearing any other accessories, your shoes should match the predominant color in your outfit, during the day, and can pick up an accent color in your outfit for evening glamour. If you're wearing other accessories, your shoe color should match your other accessories. For instance, don't wear a brown belt with black shoes.
Do brown shoes go with a black skirt?
Brown can go with black and look great, it just depends on the amounts of both I think. I'd play it safe and get a pair of cheap black shoes somewhere. Or if you can find some shoes with a little yellow on them, it'll tie the outfit together nicely.

absolutely. In fact I was just reading something on msn.com that said it is one of such combinations of color rules to be broken. I have also seen this debunked on TLC What Not To Wear. In the summer I wear a black tank with a brown jersey skirt and flip flops. it is very cool for my office where I can't wear shorts on hot summer days. as long as the tones of what you are wearing are similar it is fine.

Heck yes!!White shoes are the hottest summer accessories, every year!Though wearing white shoes with the outfit you described or with any other outfit definitely makes you stand out in a crowd and is definitely an unusual choice, but trust me-it looks amazing!I have personally, very recently replaced a lot of black shoes with white ones. Can I wear a black leather skirt to a job interview ?
I am applying for a professional job(Master's level). The skirt is about 2 inches above the knee and I plan on wearing black tights, black heels, pink shirt, pink earings, and black blazer. I don't want to go out and buy something else. What do you think ?
