What Do You Think Of The 2009 Michigan Smoking Ban

Should i open a hookah bar in michigan?

I would think twice. The new smoking law in Michigan means that no new hookah bars can ever open there. Don't bother putting time and effort into something that can't possibly happen. The hookah lounges that exist in Michigan were grandfathered in. Only the owner of a current hookah lounge can expand or open a new lounge in Michigan.

Here is the full text of the law:

http://www.legislature.mi.gov/documents/2009-2010/publicact/pdf/2009-PA-0188.pdf

Hookah bars qualify under the "tobacco retail store" exemption. Note that it says that these stores must have already been in existence on the date the law took effect.

No new hookah lounges will ever open in Michigan. Its a good idea, don't give up on it, just do your research and try a different state.

Is salvia legal in michigan?

"A law controlling Salvia divinorum and salvinorin A, adding them to Michigan's Schedule I list, was signed on Sep 30 2010 and took effect Oct 1 2010. Legislature.mi.gov 2009-2010 Public Act 0171. (thanks an) (last updated Oct 23 2010)"

Is medical marijuana legal in Minnesota?

I have a neighbor that claims to smoke medical marijuana prescribed to him for his liver transplant. Is it legal in Minnesota? All online sources I've seen said no, but date before the middle of 2010 when it appears some legislation was up for a vote.

Can a police officer smoke weed in a state where it’s legal even though he doesn't reside there? Would he get in trouble in his home state?

States where the recreational use of marijuana is legal are relatively new. So this is a developing area of the law. I am unaware of any regulations/laws applying especially to police officers in this situation, but Colorado (where marijuana is legal) has passed a law allowing employers to fire employees who come up positive for marijuana on drug tests. So I imagine the same rule probably applies to cops in most areas.

Why are some countries making vaping illegal when it is shown to be 95% less harmful than regular smoking but continue to allow sales of traditional cigarettes?

In short it's big business trying to cling to it's own revenue stream. The tobacco lobby is well financed and their money is well placed in government circles. They fabricate “evidence” about the harm of vaping much like they systematically hid evidence about the harm of smoking. Remember these are the same people who put addititives in cigarettes to make them more addictive and their government puppets that allowed them to get away with this, never holding them accountable. Millions died and continue to die in this scheme to create great wealth. This is the American way. Find a way to generate enormous ammounts of money with no regard to the detriment of the public. This is the American way. We refuse people basic health care then when they take ill from our greed driven conspiracies we “humanely” feed them opiates and let them die.In other countries where people are treated better, were human life and allieviating human suffering is a priority, where votes aren't bought and sold on the open market, vaping is encouraged by medical officers within government. The evidence is in and it speaks volumes. Even the AMA has had to do some backpeddaling lately. All of this talk about harm reduction for children is just more tobacco lobby rhetoric. Maybe more teens are vaping but less teens are taking up smoking. That's a good thing for everyone who has no financial interest in tobacco sales.I can brew up about a year's supply of vape juice in minutes in my kitchen for less than $100. I can buy everything I need to accomplish this online, free of excise taxes. I can buy the delivery system (vaporizer) online for less than the cost of two packs of cigarettes. The government has no control to speak of. They can shut down legal businesses in a failing attempt to keep people paying thousands annually to the tax man. This is futile. They can't win. The misinformation and legislation may slow things down but the days of analog cigarettes are coming to an end. People aren't as naive as they once were.

Can my ex-husbands' girlfriend put him and our five children on her health insurance through work?

My ex-husband and I have joint custody and he has a live-in girlfriend and he has told me that he and our five kids were going to be on her health insurance starting in October 2009, now it has changed to January. Is that possible? I've had several people say that they have to be married to do so. I've had other people say that she would have to be their "legal guardian" to get them on her health insurance. My ex-husband is very manipulative and he lies all the time. Just wondering how true all this really is. Two of my kids think that they are "secretly" married. It's been a big mess and a lot of drama. Just hoping to clear this up, my daughter needs braces, and my kids are tired of being lied to. Thank you
