What are your thoughts on this boy name? +BQ?

I am starting to fall in love with Greyson Jett.

I don't like common names.

What are your thoughts on it?

BQ; What are your top 3 girl & boy names?

What do you think of the name Sylvie?

My thoughts:

As the French version, Sylvie is pronounced sil-VEE, with the stress on the second syllable. Giselle, Marie, Colette, Sylvie all should be said with the same stress. Pronouncing it SIL-vee and saying it's the French version is kind of like pronouncing "Marie" the same way as "Mary" and still calling it French.

I'm not a huge fan of pronouncing it SIL-vee (as most English speakers certainly would) and then using it as a full name. That does make it feel like the nickname Sylvie instead of the French Sylvie. Does that make sense?

That being said, most people DO see Sylvie (no matter how you pronounce it) as a name in its own right. And if Lucy and Ruby and Bonnie and Molly are okay as stand-alone names, is there a reason Sylvie and Sophia and Maggie and Callie shouldn't be? Maybe that's just my bias and I need to get over it. And if you don't have that bias, then you by all means shouldn't worry about what I think on that issue, since most people would disagree with me.

I actually really love Sylvia/Sylvie. I think it's an ahead-of-the-curve name that will become more popular in 10-20 years or so, and there are lots of advantages to using an ahead-of-the-curve name. I love Sylvia/Sylvie's woodland maiden feel.

Nora and Sylvie feel like very stylish sisters. I like that they're both two syllables and similar in feel but that they don't share any similar sounds. I disagree with the poster above me who says Nora feels too subdued to pair with Sylvie. I think Nora sounds stylish and elegant, but it also has a bit of an edge. And since Nora feels the slightest bit nicknamey (since it can be short for Eleanor or Honora), then the nicknamey Sylvie works well with it for that reason, too.

Sylvie Johanna is my preference. I love the buoyant rhythm of Johanna, and I've had Clara Johanna as an option on my own list. Sylvie Caroline is also lovely in its subdued strength. You really can't go wrong with either of these.
