What Do You Think Of This Song That A Friend Of Mine Wrote

What do you think about this song I wrote for my boyfriend?

You’ve got a hold on me;
Don’t let me go.
You’ve got my heart,
And I need you to know.
Since I met you,
Nothing’s been the same,
And now you’ve got me drawing
Hearts around your name.

You are always with me
Never felt like this before
Roses by my pillow
Silver stars hang on my door
Not a thing can hurt me
When I’m here in your arms
You are always with me
And I miss you when you are gone.

You’ve got my angel eyes
You’ve got my smile.
You’ve got my time on a ring of keys
Let’s drive for a while.
And where you'll go I’ll follow
How fast the hours fly.
I’ll leave you with something
Our first kiss goodbye

You are worth every song I sing
You are worth the hours of piano ring
You are worth every smile, everything
You are; you are.

When I'm out of your arms
Then I'm out of my mind
At the end of every phone call
"Adios, and goodnight my angel eyes"

Isnt the song Jenny was a Friend of Mine by the killers about rape?

im a huge fan of the killers and read that one of their songs is about rape and wrote it for a fan who got raped...and in jenny was a friend of mine it makes sence
"she couldnt scream while i held her close" and "there was no motive for this crime cuz jenny was a friend of mine"
are examples
...im guessing its from the rapists point of view???

Songs for a friend of mine that died?

My friend Nevin Cortright died on his way back home from Spring Break this year (April 17th) and I just started writing a blog. I'm doing a couple posts about honoring his memory and I'm making a playlist to post with them. Nevin liked rap music and all that, so I'm trying to think of songs he would like. I have a lot of songs on here that are emotional because of the subject, but I would like to put songs on there that I know he would like. Any suggestions?

Opinions on my lyrics for a song i wrote?

This is with an acoustic guitar, (capo on 4th and has G, D, Em and C - all of which are a variation to the original chord)
ANYWAYS so this song is about losing some one close to you, i wrote it with the help of a friend and i had in mind my friend who had passed away due to a brain tumor, but in general about any one you love leaving you,
just want some opinions and what ever <3

i will not let you fade away
into a distant memory
you will forever be in my heart
we will never grow apart
coz i love you and you love me
that's the way its supposed to be
--------------------------------------
i will not let you fade away
into a distant memory
torn in two when we were forced to part
coz you and me are a piece of art
i will remember everything that you said
i will remember all the jokes that we shared
--------------------------------------...
i will not let you fade away
into a distant memory
now your gone, i have holes in my heart
down in the deepest part of my soul
i miss your love, your embrace
i miss seeing your glowing face
-------------------------------------
i will not let you fade away
into a distant memory
you told me its over, time to move on
but you will remember forever long
long walks along the beach, sneaking out late at night
running all day and mucking around, time to go you hold me tight
----------------------------------
I will not let you fade away
into a distant memory

thanks <3

If you ever wrote a song what would the title be?

If I ever wrote a song, what would the title be? Well, since I have made music—and will continue to do so—that is a question I can actually answer:The newest track I made—which isn’t officially released and never will be—I named “An Hour Of Pain”—because it was a self-imposed challenge to make a track in an hour… which was surprisingly stressful, yet fun.Last track I actually “released” in the sense that you can find it on my youtube channel, is called “Collapse”… a friend of mine named it that and I simply went with it because I liked it and didn’t have a better idea myself. As for the last track that actually had “lyrics” in some sense? That would be “Roundabout Way Out”… which had the happy topic of suicide for the subject matter.Or basically: Whenever I name songs, I name them whatever just pops into my head at the time, which, to be fair, can lead to rather weird—and/or trollish*—names at times. So, I don’t know what I’ll name my next track… and I sure won’t decide on it yet either, as to me, the naming of a track has a (stupid) symbolic meaning: namely—pun intended—that the track is done and I move on, not looking back—a hard cut, because else I’d never finish anything.*: I like to use puns—named a particularly loud and in-your-face track “Silence”, just for pun—weird and bad jokes in some way related to the track—like “21KL0413DCLR”… which is unpronounceable and actually a simple cypher that decodes to “zodiak killer”—or just (semi-)obscure references—like “Present Day, Present Time”—when naming tracks… well, at least when I am not using pseudo-philosophic or just somewhat neat sounding, but otherwise random, words for names,

Has anyone ever written any lines for you or composed a song for you? If yes, did you appreciate it?

Yes, I wholeheartedly do and of course it should be appreciated!Isn't originality what we all keep fussing over? Always wishing for uniqueness, being special (even if just for that one person), something fresh, something new? What's more unique than a few choice words written specifically for you?Doesn't matter if it isn't in league with those grand literary works, if someone takes time out and put their heart into creating something for you then you've got to be an idiot to not appreciate the effort.Personally, I feel really happy and cherished if someone writes even a couple of lines for me.And I'm glad I got to experience it on a number of occasions.Pure unadulterated feelings, that's what poetry is.Don't hesitate in penning down a few lines for someone dear! It'll definitely make their day.(:

Aerosmith used the phrase, “Love wasn't much of a friend of mine” in the song Cryin’. Would it be wrong if I wrote it as simple as, “love wasn’t much friend of mine”? What’s the difference?

“Love wasn't much friend of mine” doesn't make sense. You can say “Love was never a friend of mine”

Who is the original singer of the song the rose sung by bette midler?

This was written by Los Angeles singer/songwriter Amanda McBroom. Midler recorded it for the 1980 movie of the same name, which she starred in.
McBroom: "A song came on the radio. It was "Magdalena" by Danny OKeefe, sung by Leo Sayer. I liked it immediately. My favorite line was, 'You're love is like a razor. My heart is just a scar.' I thought, 'Ooh, I love that lyric, but don't agree with the sentiment that love is a razor.' As I continued to drive down the road the thought came, "What, then, do I think love is." Suddenly, it was as if someone had opened a window in the top of my head. Words came pouring in. I had to keep reciting them to myself as I drove faster and faster towards home, so I wouldnt forget them. I screeched into my driveway, ran into the house, past various bewildered dogs and cats and husbands, and sat down at the piano. Ten minutes later, The Rose was there. A year or so later, a professional songwriter friend of mine said, 'Listen, there is this movie coming out called The Rose, based on the life of Janis Joplin. They are looking for a title tune. Do you want me to submit this to them? I had never really tried to submit a song to anyone. I didn't consider myself a songwriter at the time. So I said, 'Sure.' The producers hated it. They thought it was dull and not Rock And Roll and totally wrong. They put it in the reject box. But Paul Rothchild, who had been Janis Joplin's producer, and now the music supervisor on the film, hauled it out and asked them to reconsider. They again said no. So he mailed it to Bette Midler, the star of the movie. She liked it, lobbied in favor of it; and that's how it got into the film and changed my life forever."

How does it feel to write a song?

For me, this is the typical process:•I can feel something festering for a day or so. I decide: it’s not indigestion, I’m not about to start my period, and I’m not hungover, so I brush it off.•At about 3AM one night, I bolt out of bed and run into the other room. I then blindly grope around for a pen and scribble out 1 or 2 lines of a song.•The next day I will be humming and singing those 2 lines constantly throughout the day. Eventually, while I’m driving, the rest of the song will come tumbling out, at which point I’ll hit record on my phone and sing 20 different versions of it.•Then the ‘meat’ of my little project: I will go home and work on it for hours. I’ll change lyrics, I’ll change tune, I’ll add a little ‘somethin-somethin’ here and there.•Finally, I will have it. It’s perfect. It will be my new favorite song. I’ll record myself singing it. I’ll play it in the car on my way to work- singing along in the most narcissistic fashion.BUT THEN:One month later, I’ll dust it off again and give it a listen and realize: oh my fucking god I HATE this song. UGH. This is horrible. These lyrics are shit. Everything I’ve ever created should be burned. There is only ONE song that has stood the test of time: ‘A lament of Bones’. I hope I never end up hating that song, it has little pieces of my soul sprinkled into it.Maybe it’s because I never really completed it?
