What Do You Think Of This Story I Wrote Short Story

What do you think about this short story I have written?

Thank you for the A2A and sorry it has taken me so long to reply!!Your basic plot is very good and I like the way you put your words together, although sometimes you've used unnecessarily 'big' words when something simple would have done just as well. Also your writing seems a little scattered. You have an idea but you go off on tangents or throw something into the mix that doesn't seem to fit.Sometimes your descriptions of something are too long winded and there are a couple of places where it would have been nice to get a little more detail. Some of your sentences are not quite right either. I understood what they were meant to say based on what was in the sentence and what came before and after, but there are a few words missing. Some of the sentences are too long and need more punctuation or to be arranged differently.Basically I would say that you need an editor who can take what you've put together so far and help you turn it into something truly amazing. It is probably going to take at least five edits for just this one part, if not more. But be patient. The bones are there, now they just need to be fleshed out and beautifully clothed. Here are some links about where to publish short stories: Where to Submit Short Stories: 25 Magazines and Online Publications46 Literary Magazines To Submit ToFree online publication of short stories. What do you think about this short story? How can it be improved?

Why did you even write this? What is the point of this story? Just the idea that the purpose of life is to figure it out is too cliche. You are going to have to dig a deeper, much deeper into the message you are trying to convey to improve your story.

Who wrote the Short story Thank You Ma'am?

Langston Hughes

What do you think about the plot of my short story (Brief)?

The story begins with describing a 35 year old chemistry professor, who's not handsome at all, but he has a very good heart. He enters a classroom where one of his students, who's a lovely 18 year old woman is looking at him. She has a crush on him and he doesn't know anything about it. The whole story happens in a week. The young woman watches her professor's actions (even his prayer at the church) meticulously, while she's wondering whether she must confess that she's in love with him or not. She first plans to write a letter for him, but she doesn't dare do this. She then decides to buy him a present, but she finds this idea a bit childish. So, she does nothing and concludes that it's best for both of them to keep her feelings secret forever. But when she finds out by one of the professors and he has been diagnosed with leukemia and he's now in the hospital, she immediately decides to see him. There in the hospital, she confesses her love in front of him. He says nothing, but although he's a shy person, he doesn't resist when she touches his hand. He dies shortly after that.

What do u think Mark Twain's short story "A Fable" has to do with a classrooms studys&conversations about lit.

There were a couple of things going on in that fable.

The cat: do you think, from its description, that it really understood the artist's intent? Did the cat really know what made a painting beautiful and how the mirror enhanced, in the artist's view, the beauty? Or was the cat only repeating what it had heard and trying to bluster in order to make it seem like it was in the know?

Are there students like the cat in a high school class?

Then there's the reader's interpretation vs. the author's intent. Each animal viewing the mirror is like the reader who reads the words the author writes and sees in them what the reader wants to see, a reflection of the reader's own biases. But here we see there really was a painting they didn't even see- the author's intent. Each animal was so closely looking at elements that they missed what they would otherwise have seen- what the artist actually was doing with the piece.

Some say that art can only be interpreted by how each audience member perceives it. Think about what Twain said about your ears still being there even if you, from your perspective, don't see them. Does Twain agree that the only measure of a piece of art is the viewer's reaction to it?

Who wrote short story "The Death Car"?

Actually, no one wrote it.
It's based on an urban legend.

Advice on writing a short story?

I have to write a short story. Problem is, I've never written one before, I don't write fiction, I'm not a great writer of any kind, and I really don't have much of an idea on what to write. I don't even read short stories that often. But write one I must.

The good news is, it's not due until May 1st, so I have some time to work with, although it won't all be devoted to writing and rewriting said story.

Now, to the writers and short story aficionados, what should I know beforehand? About brainstorming, planning, plotting, writing, editing, anything and everything? Do I need to eat special waffles, or inject myself with creative juices each morning? Will wearing my lucky rocket ship underwear help me get good ideas, or will I have to do handstands for that?

Thank you.
