Who do you think has the best football rivalry in college sports?
Of course I am prejudiced, but I think it’s Alabama vs Auburn in the Iron Bowl. For many many years, it was played at Legion Field in Birmingham before being moved to each schools stadium. Birmingham was a steel production city, and that’s why it was called the iron bow. If you live in Alabama, you must be one or the other, it’s not possible to be an agnostic. Fans are totally rabid about their respective teams. When you lose to the other school, it is tough to live with for a whole year. Last year was a very tough one for Auburn because they beat both Alabama and Georgia, and didn’t get into the playoffs. To make matters worse for them, their arch rival Alabama won in a classic overtime game to become National Champions for the 17th time which took almost of the sting out of Alabama’s loss to Auburn.
What does All Conference mean?
Congratulations are in order for your achievements. It means you were selected as being among the best players in the conference and district. It is uncommon that a freshmen can be selected, as you would be playing against much older players on the varsity team. All sports in the US tend to name such teams at the various levels. Usually the players so named are chosen either by the coaches or the media. One of the highest honors a college athlete can receive is to be named an All American in his or her sport.
What broadcasters are losing college sports content as a result of conferences starting their own cable TV networks?
I'm not sure but I do know one that won't. ABC bought the rights to all the OU football games, so I know where my boys will be on Saturdays. To answer your question. I really don't think there will be alot because those channels usually charge a fee to subscribe and although the idea is up and coming I doubt we'll see any real fallout for a couple of years.

How can a college or university switch their NCAA sports Division?
In order for a college/university to become a FBS school, it must meet the following requirements:An institution classified in Football Bowl Subdivision shall meet all theDivision I membership requirements set forth in NCAA Division I Bylaws 20.9.1through 20.9.5 and in addition, shall:Sponsor a minimum of 16 varsity intercollegiate sports, including football, based on the minimum sports sponsorship and scheduling requirementsset forth in Bylaw 20. To be an NCAA All-American in hockey, you need to be named to your Conference's post-season all-star team (12 players per conference) Each school also has an academic all-American which is the player on the team who has the highest academic average.
