What Do You Think The Dentist Is Going To Do With Me

Do you think my dentist hates me?

okay so I've been going to the same dentist for a while now and I was about to get braces. the dentist who was going to put on my braces said " you can get braces by next week, you just need to get them cleaned. " so I went back to my regular dentist and she said " no it's not a good idea to get braces " BUT last time I saw her she said I DID NEED BRACES, and she recommended that dentist for my braces ^ she always says I'm getting more cavitys and that I don't brush my teeth, but I do! every morning! every night! btw my teeth is REALLY bad and ya. sometimes I get made fun of for my fugly *** teeth. so please help me?! )-:

Do you think that Dentist lie about you having cavities just so they get more money?

Have the dentist show you the cavities on the x-ray. Most dentists are honest, but a few bad apples in every walk of life. There is a difference in dentists abilities to detect caries. It is not a big difference, but it is there.

Im so scared to go to the dentist?

It doesn't sound stupid a lot of people are afraid of the densits or just hate going. The best thing to do is take care of it right away! If you dont the problem will only get worse and so will your fear. Discuss your fear with the dentist- they are usually very accomidating with putting all fears to rest and making sure you are 100% comfortable with anything they are going to do before they start anything as long as you LET THEM KNOW. If they aren't accomadating then tell your parents that you aren't comfortable with the office and asked to be switched to a different dentist- but I really dont see it coming to that.

Good luck, and you will be fine! People have cavities filled everyday (unfortunatly!)

If you can't afford dental insurance, do you think the dentist should give you a small discount?

Hey Jewel,
I am a dentist and if a person pays for the service in full on the same day I render it I will give them an 8% discount (Only 4% with a credit card as I have to pay the 3-4% for credit cards used in my office). I don't do this for insurance patients because I have to collect the insurance payment directly from the insurance company and that takes a couple of weeks so I don't receive payment the same day. One person suggested Care Credit for financing treatment and that it a great suggestion. I don't work with Care Credit but I work with the Dental Fee Plan through Capital One which is very similar and I'm sure your dentist has some institution he or she works with- just ask them. I don't consider it tacky when a patient asks for a discount as long as they do it tactfully. Just say something like "Do you have a discount for cash patients?" Believe me cash patients are my favorite patients. Insurance companies are a pain in the butt to deal with and I have to take a discount when working with them, so I sure don't mind to do it for my cash paying patients. BUT...I DON'T GIVE THEM A CASH DISOUNT UNLESS THEY ASK FOR IT.

Will the dentist knock me out for teeth pulling?

Hi Caroline,

The standard procedure for removing a tooth, is to put a little bit of cream on your gum to numb the area, then numb your teeth and gums totally using an injection (the cream takes away the prick sensation you get when the needle is used). Once you're totally numbed up, the dentist will remove your two teeth!

There is very little "pulling" action, and if anything you'll feel the dentist push down quite firmly and rotate slightly. You'll feel the pressure but there is no pain when they actually do it.

If you are severely nervous about the procedure, the dentist may discuss with you the option of concious sedation (administering nitrous oxide) to make you quite dazed and dreamy during the whole thing. However this is not often done, everybody is scared of having teeth out, and its totally normal to feel this way!

The best thing to do is make sure you've eaten before (so you dont faint) and relax, you'd be suprised and how quick and painless the procedure is most often!Only complications can be the teeth breaking, however it remains painless for you, and just means a bit of extra effort from the dentist. If it is your premolars you're having removed, knocking the patient out is rarely done!

Best of luck!Though you will need none!

How often do you visit the dentist?

ALSO, IF ANY UK PEOPLE OVER THERE ARE STILL AWAKE , I WOULD LIKE TO KNOW HOW MANY TIMES THE TYPICAL UK RESIDENT VISITS THE DENTIST?

IS THIS SOMETHING THE MEDICAL INDUSTRY IN THE US IS ONLY PUSHING OR IS THAT ALSO IN THE UK?
