Was U2 a Christian rock band?
To me, U2 is the only Christian rock band. I would never listen to those who are marketed as Christian rock. They come across as shallow, uninteresting, and musically and theologically weak. But that's just me.So there is U2. U2 provides a very rich array of Christian rock music. Consider these major Christian themes:TEMPTATION Vertigo is one of my favorites. It uses the imagery of the temptations of Jesus in the desert (Satan takes Jesus to the tower and says All this can be yours) Matthew 4:1-1140 based on (duh) Psalm 40I still haven't found what I'm Looking For - the classic seeker anthemLOVEWhen Love Comes To Town - John 15:12-17Miracle Drug One - One of the best songs of all time. How much is a 14 karat gold ring worth?
That answer is dependent on several different things. Lets look at the basic answer….First, you need to find the weight of the ring in grams. Next, look up the spot price per troy ounce (right now, that's $1168.50) and divide that by 31.1034768 to get the price per gram.Ok..given that gold spot price is $1168.50 divided by 31.1034768 = $37.531 per gram. Now, since 14K gold is only 58.33% actual gold, we divide the per gram price of pure gold ($37.531) by 0.5833 to arrive at a 14K gold price of right at $21.92 a gram. Now you multiply the weight of the ring in grams by the price per gram at 14K, and you have the spot price of your ring.Given that a plain wedding band is around 2 grams, this gets you an amount of around $42.00 for the maximum value of the ring in actual gold.Carving and engraving or even age and markings can enhance the value of the ring, but unless it is very special, you will rarely get much more than the basic gold value, minus a few percent, if reselling to a jeweler or gold buyer.
You have 8 rocks in a bag. 6 are red and 2 are blue. What is the probability that you pick 4 red rocks out of 4 picks? What about 6 red rocks out of 6?
In the first case, it's 6/8 (drawing 1 of the 6 red rocks out of 8 rocks) * 5/7 (5 of the remaining red rocks out of 7 of the remaining rocks) * 4/6 * 3/5 = 360/1680 = 3/14 or about 21.4%.You just add another * 2/4 and * 1/3 for the second scenario to get about 3.6% (pretty low). You can express the above more elegantly with permutations and combinations, but I'll leave that as an exercise to the reader (= I'm lazy).EDIT: I hope I didn't just do your homework for you. Slacker.
Do you think you could survive being stranded on a deserted island?
Question: Do you think you could survive being stranded on a deserted island? No, I don’t.Why?As I have stated on multiple other answers here on Quora, if an island can support human life here on Earth, it almost certainly is - There are so few islands that are deserted which can support human life that the odds of my landing on one are infinitesimal. That means if I have become stranded on a deserted island, it’s essentially the countdown to my death.I have minor health issues which might become major ones if I was on a small island and health care wasn't available - It might take months or it may only take weeks, but I would soon be experiencing problems that would require me to see a physician and that wouldn’t be possible. Soon I would grow ill and eventually I would likely die from the medical issues or from the fact that they weakened me too much to maintain a steady diet.Limited amounts of freshwater - Unless the island was a giant rock and had areas which could catch rainwater, I’d be short of water within days. the types of atolls that people imagine when they think of “deserted islands” unfortunately don’t routinely have sources of water for more than the plants and small animals which live there. I would die an agonizing death from thirst within 3–14 days, with the longer number being the most agonizing.I would almost certainly be injured during whatever event brought me to the island - Without medical care, I would likely succumb within hours to days after I arrived.I would eventually starve to death - Once I had eaten any of the mammals which inhabited the island, the majority of the bird’s eggs and eventually the birds which didn’t flee the island, that would leave the close-in sea life. Since if I could travel far enough from the island to obtain loads of fish, that would mean that I have a vessel that would allow me to leave the island, I’m going to overfish the close-in waters within several moths at the most. Without any source of protein, I would eventually grow ill and die.Again, the islands which can support human life are nearly always doing just that. So if an island is deserted, that means that it cannot.

Why does Bono sing "Uno, Dos, Tres, Catorce" in Vertigo?
Because of Mexico…1, 2, 3, 14!!! Could be a mistake, could be the volume level, or something else, however is in Spanish! and contains more words or phrases in spanish. Why Mexico? In October 1992 Bono was in a place called Vertigo in Ciudad Juarez, two days before their concert in El Paso (U2 ZOO TV Tour, 1992-10-27: Texas Sun Bowl - El Paso, Texas, USA)That was his 1st time in Mexico, he also visited a bar called Chihuahua Charlie’s and then moved to the Vertigo, two blocks from there. That picture was taken at Chihuahua Charlie’s bar n grill in Ciudad Juarez, a picture of Bono and tour assistant, also Emiliano Zapata in the back almost doing a PhotoBomb. The presence of Bono and staff members in Juarez is documented in the book “U2: Far Away So Close” by B.P. Fallon. Also there’s a reference of a nightclub when he was asked about the song:In the case of "Vertigo", I was thinking about this awful nightclub we've all been to. — Bono, U2 by U2in an interview for Rolling Stone Magazine, Bono replied "there may have been some alcohol involved"The song in concerts performed in southwest USA starts with this:Honey, I’m home Some Spanish lessons With an Irish accent Vamos, muchachicos Unos, dos, tres, catorce! Also he says Viva Mexico in the middle of the song:“Hello, hello Hola We’re at a place called Vertigo Donde esta? It's everything I wish I didn't know But you give me something I can feel Feel Viva Mexico Hours of fun”The song was released more than 10 years after his visit to that place called Vertigo, and this is my theory because of so many coincidences, he already visited that place called Vertigo, it’s a nightclub, alcohol involved and Spanish.U2 Day by daySong Info
What was so unique about the moral teachings of Jesus, Mohammed, Bahá'u'lláh, etc.?
I believe there are certain basic moral teachings that have proceeded from Christianity, Islam and the Baha’i Faith and other religions…The differences or uniqueness of the teachings occur because the capacity of mankind to receive more advanced teachings has increased. The world we live in is not the world when Jesus or Muhammad lived but let’s review some of the references on the topic of violence:22:1 And David spake unto the LORD the words of this song in the day that the LORD had delivered him out of the hand of all his enemies, and out of the hand of Saul: 22:2 And he said, The LORD is my rock, and my fortress, and my deliverer; 22:3 The God of my rock; in him will I trust: he is my shield, and the horn of my salvation, my high tower, and my refuge, my saviour; thou savest me from violence.(King James Bible, 2 Kings)3:14 And the soldiers likewise demanded of him, saying, And what shall we do? And he said unto them, Do violence to no man, neither accuse any falsely; and be content with your wages.(King James Bible, Luke)So far as the army is concerned its chief and commander should be a person who is most sincere and faithful to Allah, to the Holy Prophet (s) and to your Imam who is most pious, who is famous for his forbearance, clemency and gentleness, who is neither short-tempered nor does he get angry quickly, who sympathetically treats sincere excuses and accepts apologies, who is kind and compassionate with the weak, but severe against the strong and the powerful, who has no vindictiveness which might lead to violence or any inferiority complex or weak-mindedness which makes them helpless and dejected.~ Ali b. Abi Taalib, Letters from Nahjul Balaagh)I hope that the lights of the Sun of Reality will illumine the whole world so that no strife and warfare, no battles and bloodshed remain. May fanaticism and religious bigotry be unknown, all humanity enter the bond of brotherhood, souls consort in perfect agreement, the 13 nations of earth at last hoist the banner of truth and the religions of the world enter the divine temple of oneness, for the foundations of the heavenly religions are one reality. Reality is not divisible; it does not admit multiplicity.~ Abdu'l-Baha, Foundations of World Unity, p. 12
