What Doctor Do I Need To See For Knee Injury

I have a knee injury, but my parents won't take me to a doctor?

By the sounds of it you have seen several doctors on this issue. It sounds like you know exactly what is going on. I trust that what you feeling is probably true since it does happen so frequently. {Barring any emotional issues you may be going through}
I live in Canada and we have a great thing where you can call and talk to a nurse and get medical advice, I am not sure if that is available in your area.
If not there are several websites that have live nurses available although I can not remember the names. Do a Yahoo search for live nurse several should come up. Tell the nurse your issues and she will provide iformation for you. She will also tell you how urgent it is to go to a doctor. Please keep in mind that these nurses are trained to tell you to go seek medical advice because they can not physically examine you and they are not doctors.
This will give you information to feed your mom, hopefully she will break down and take you then.

Knee injury, but my parents hate doctors?

I'm a 14 year old girl and for almost three years now my knees have been dislocating once every 1-2 months. 22 hours ago my left knee dislocated again. Every other time the burning sensation and pain goes away within a couple hours, but this time it STILL hurts. It hurts even when there is no weight on it. My parents hate doctors and won't take me (cost is NOT an issue), and friends/family, and public transportation are not options. The school nurse couldn't even help me out.

Something had to of gone very wrong when my knee dislocated yesterday. I know what it is suppose to feel like, and it isn't this. How can I get to a doctor or convince my parents?

What kind of doctor for my knee injury?

Ultimately, you will most likely need to see a PT...although many states do have direct acess to PTs, many insurance companies and some states still require you to see a physician first. You could probably start with your primary care physician who can refer you to PT to avoid the extra expense of seeing an orthopedic surgeon...especially if the problem is not serious. The orthpedist is most likely to refer you to PT anyway.

I injured my knee in a crash 19 days ago, should I see a doctor?

You may be a candidate for “liquid” cartilage injection. The one that is readily available in Canada is Durolane. But there are many similar varieties such as Synvisc and Orthovisc. Each have different viscosity, and they are good for different parts of the body.A friend’s aunt living in San Francisco had a worn-out cartilage. I recommended her to seek out someone locally who can do the liquid cartilage injection, so that she doesn’t have to fly over to Vancouer in her conditon. It was much harder to find someone to do this procedure than I thought. I made lot of calls to orthopedic surgeons in San Fransisco area, and surprisingly few had experience with it.Many orthopedic surgeons in Canada do it. However, many Naturopathic doctors in Canada do it as well—depending on their license. For example, in BC, http://CNPBC.ca will provide naturopathic doctors who are licensed to perform injection therapies—such as PRP, prolotherapy, neural therapy, ozone, and liquid cartilage.Durolane, Orthovisc, Synvisc are collectively known as hyaluronic acid—the building block of cartilage. Below is a picture of Orthovisc. It works well, and typically injection of 3 of these 2cc units over span of 1 per month helps greatly. Without needing to emphasize, it is prescription only, and also be done by someone with the proper licensing for its application. I’ve done this over 500 procedures, and they work reliably. By the way, they are usually covered here in Canada under extended health care. I’m sure it is similar in the US. But even if you have to pay out of pocket, it isn’t terribly expensive for the relief it can give you without going through a knee replacement.Cortisone shot can help too. But it tends to work only for about 3 times. After that, surgery might be necessary.Look for someone who will freeze the knee with local anesthetic before the application. It is so simple, but many doctors fail to do so.

I have knee pain should I see a doctor?

I'm 16 and I have knee pain. For example if I'm looking at something in a store on a low shelf and I crouch down my knees crack and hurt then crack when I come back up too. I often twist my knee in to crack them, it's just a bad habit which I am trying to break ever since my knees started hurting. When I'm sitting for a long time like in a car, they hurt when I stand back up. I'm a dancer so obviously that probably plays a role in my knee pain but when is it serious to the point that I should go to a doctors

Knee injury: I had a knee injury a little over 4 months ago. Need some advice.?

I had a knee injury a little over 4 months ago. Ive gone into see my Doctor many times amd he has sent me in for both an xray and an ultrasound but nothing showed up ( must be internal( He hasnt sent me in for an MRI because he doesnt think its worth the cost ( public health care)/ serious enough. Hes reffered me to see an Orthopedic surgeon but that will take a long time to see one.

Hes advised me that its okay to lift weights on it and I have been doing so since the start of my injury but I think weight lifting has made it worse..some days I find myself limping. I feel this injury is like a rollercoaster; some days better than others.

What sort of doctor should I see about a weak knee?

You should go to your PCP, your Primary Care Physician. That is if you have a family Doctor you regularly see. He can give you a Consult (like a referral) to go see an Orthopedic Specialist {a Bone Doctor}. He will probably take an Exray then a Cat Scan, MRI, or whatever he decides, and he will know the next step (pun intended). If you're young then I doubt you have a form of Arthritis, or need Knee Replacement. My guess, and it is exactly that, a Guess. You have Gout & the doctor can prescribe Colcrys, which is very expensive. If you’re just looking for strong pain meds then, I'm Sorry, but they will see through that, and may refuse to further care for you all together!! Nevertheless, since you said,, ‘A Weak Knee, then you’re Okay!! You may be expected to pay them for all those tests & for wasting their time though, if you Are legit, or if you're running a Scam!! Either Way, all of this costs money & even with insurance you may have a $250 to $500 deductable. So make sure you don’t just have a sore knee, or ‘You played Football with your friends', because, as I said, this can get expensive Fast!!
