Do Italians really eat chicken without pasta?

We really eat all sorts of thigs without pasta. This is pasta:It is a common ingredient of many primi piatti, which are usually the first or second course served in an Italian meal. Pasta is boiled on salted water and served mixed (not just topped) with a modest amount of a saucy condiment. This can be a ssimple as a knob of butter and a dusting of Parmigiano Reggiano, or as rich as a meat and tomato sauce that has simmered for 8 hours. Sometimes the primo does not include pasta at all.
