Does exercise improve mental health?
I've been depressed with anxiety and avoid personality disorder for years. I do not want to take medication, so I see a therapist and guess what else? I exercise. And since I started running every day, I've never felt better. I feel just all around happier and more confident. I can focus more on my schoolwork now, knowing other areas of my life are coming together. My therapist says it's good to have goals, so I strive to run more and more. I'm currently at six miles a day, though when I first started I could hardly run 15 yards... Plus, it is a lot easier for me to sleep at night. I used to have severe insomnia caused by the anxiety, but now I sleep like a log. I also meditate every day, but that is another story. Exercise helps. I'm no expert, but I can say that it can improve some areas of your life from experience.
