What Does Invert Y Axis On Xbox Mean

Why do people play games inverted?

I am guessing by inverted you mean by pulling back you look up. That is a natural way for animals to perceive the world. In a plane, the pilot pulls back on the wheel to cause the plane to rise. When you look up, the muscles in the back of your head pull your head back, not the muscles in the front push it up. There is nothing wrong with how you play, it is normal. Actually, if you think about it, there is everything right.

Opinion poll: what sort of video games do you invert the sticks?

It depends on the user. You would have to ask yourself what is the most natural way to look at things when you play a game. For example, If you are playing a first person shooter, how would you look at the right thumb stick?Does pushing the right thumb stick up move your head forward? Thus moving the camera view downwards.Or does pushing the right thumb stick up move your eyes upwards? Thus moving the camera view upwards.Another example would be if you are playing any kind of flying gameDoes pushing the right thumb stick up move your plane forward? Thus dipping the plane forward and moving the camera view downwards.Or does pushing the right thumb stick up move your view in a plane upwards? Thus moving the camera view upwards.ConclusionInverted or not, there is no right way to configure it but more of which configurations feels more natural to the user. As long as you are comfortable with how you control what you see in the game, you are good to go.All the games supporting controllers have options for inverting the view so don’t worry about getting too comfortable to one configuration.

Why do some people use inverted controls in 3D video games? What are the percentages of people who play inverted vs. non-inverted?

I don't have access to numbers of standard versus inverted player ratios, but I can explain the reasoning why.It all depends on how your mind perceives and translates the control movement to your mental behavior. The two methods break down like this:Standard: You want to look up? You move your stick/mouse up. The cursor goes up, the viewing angle goes up. This is giving agency to the reticule or point of focus. Instead of calling this 'standard', we could just call it the 'front' method, since all of the control is happening in front of the viewer.Inverse: You want to look up? You yank the stick down. So how does that make sense? Quite simple. Imagine the joystick as your head on a neck. You want to look down, so your tilt your head forward (up). Here's a nifty picture:So we'll call 'inverse' the 'rear' control method. Instead of controlling the reticle, you're controlling the viewing mechanism, e.g. the camera. In fact, look at a camera rig, and you'll see a very distinct joystick-looking handle on the back. If you want to have the camera look down, you need to lift up on the stick:It's also been mentioned that for flight controls, if you want to bring a plane's nose up, you have to pull back on the flightstick. The idea here is that you're balancing on a fulcrum (tripod, neck), and you're controlling the angle from behind or above. For me, it generally depends on what game I'm playing. I like my flight simulators to be inverted, anything where I'm controlling a mechanism. But for most shooters, I tend to think 'forward', and know I'm matching the mouse to my reticle, so I keep a standard setup for those. My wife, however, plays entirely inverted. It's only a problem when she asks me to take over her controls for a second, and I start staring at the pretty floor tiles.

Do you use inverted controls when playing a first person shooter?

Yeah, pretty much exclusively.I blame my dad and my uncle. They were both pilots, and so I was indoctrinated early into the idea of pulling back on a stick to go up, and pushing up on a stick to go down.Interestingly, this only manifested once control sticks became common on controllers. Before then, I was perfectly comfortable using regular directional/look controls on a d-pad or a mouse, and would only use inverted controls on a joystick for flight simulators. And without actually checking, I don’t remember which way I use a mouse these days. I think I invert it? It’s especially weird that I can’t remember, since I was playing a game on my desktop yesterday morning!

I have a quantum gamepad for pc and its right analog stick is acting as 1234 buttons. How to fix this problem?

This may work out for you:-Plug In your controller.Go to Control Panel\Hardware and Sound\Devices and PrintersIf your device is listed then right click on the device icon.Select Game Controller Settings/Properties/Settings/CalibrateFollow on screen Instructions.Or click reset to default button at Game Controller Settings/Properties/Settings.This will work out I think. If it doesn't then let me know.

How scary is Silent Hill Homecoming?

People say you are too young to play games like the ones you mentioned, and they MAY be right. But! I played Resident Evil Zero when I was 10. Sure, it scared the crap out of me (I had nightmares too), but at least I could tell the difference between reality and fantasy. It IS a video game after all... not real life.

And if you can tell the difference too, then that's all you really need to be able to play SIlent Hill Homecoming. Also, a bit of courage wouldn't kill ya. I mean, that's how you'll be able to play any horror game without much hesitation.

If you are going to play SHH, I strongly suggest you play Silent Hill 2 and Silent Hill 3 for the PS2 first. A PS2 these days is only $100 dollars. And you can get SH2 and SH3 at Gamestop for under 20 bucks each. You could also get Silent Hill 1 for PSP. Well, it's for PS1, but it can be downloaded through a PS3 with Playstation Network, and uploaded to a PSP.

But if for some reason you don't have the time and/or money, then go for SHH. It's pretty scary, I'll admit. But it's not very creative in terms of psychological horror. It's more of a watered down, rehashed version of the original SH2, so play at your own risk for THAT.

But if all you care about is a little jump in your chest and not real in-depth story to go with it, then you may as well play it.

By the way, today's current PS3 is NOT backwards compatible. That means that the PS3 will not play PS2 games. But the Xbox 360 can play Xbox games, and the Wii can play Gamecube games.
