What Does It Mean When A Computer Monitor Says Check Signal Cable

My computer monitor says "Check video cable" when I turn it on. How do I fix this?

Does your monitor have a “source” option in the menu accessed from the physical buttons on the side or underside of the bezel? Try messing with that and see if you can switch the output. That’s assuming the monitor has separate output ports. You may have a lemon on your hands with that AV adapter. I have ordered products like that before and had them arrive DOA. Sometimes it’s a defective product and getting a new one fixes it. But sometimes the product itself will not work because it’s just a fake. For instance, you can sometimes find VGA to HDMI cables for sale on sites like eBay and AliExpress, sold by unscrupulous sellers, mostly out of China and Hong Kong. These are always fake. Without some sort of converter board, usually in the form of a somewhat bulky “box” in between the two connections, it is impossible to just send an “analog” VGA signal straight to a “digital” source like HDMI. It’s just not possible without converting the signal from analog to digital. I’m not saying your adapter is definitely a fraud, I’m just saying it’s possible, especially if you bought it on eBay or AliExpress. More so for AliExpress, the amount of fraudulent sellers on that sight is terrible.

Why does my HP 2009m monitor randomly say "check signal cable"?

Most likely you are either setting the display resolution to something the monitor has difficulty displaying, or you have a monitor that is malfunctioning.

LCD monitors need to be set to what is known as a "Native Resolution" in order to operate properly. If you have it set to something other than the native resolution or refresh rate, the monitor can have difficulties displaying the signal.

So it should be set to 1600x900 @ 60Hz.

What does it mean when a computer monitor says check signal cable?

My computer says no signal check video cable. please help anyone!!?

It happens to me twice....

The main reason why?....
You connect the Monitor Cord in the wrong PORT...at the back of your CPU
First look for the Video Card Monitor Port hook it up...
make sure it was seated well ok....
I think it was a Blue Port you can see it'scolor ...

Monitors have TWO connecting Port at the back...

One if you have a Video Card...

The other is Built-in with your Mother Board...

NOTE:If your Video Card is Busted Try to PULL it Out first and you can use the other Monitor Port I told you before...

Remove first the Video Card ok....

But you said the Monitor is just saying "No signal"

Connection Problem only don't have to worry about anything else...

Maybe wrong Port of Monitor or Cables are not seated well that's all...

Goodluck!!!

What does it mean when your computer displays a "VGA No Signal" message?

It means that the monitor is working but does not see the computer is turned on. The message means your monitor is working okay but is not getting a signal from your computer. The best thing to do is make sure your computer is powering on. Look on the back of your computer and see if you more then one video port on the back. They will look like the blue one or the white one. See if you have 2 of the blue or 2 of the white. If you do then move your monitor cord to other video port and see if it works or not.If that is not the problem then there is something wrong with your computer is not turning on or you have a problem that you are getting any video from your computer.

LG Monitor says check signal cable?

This immediately indicates to me that either your graphics card in your computer has died or the cable you are using to connect with is dodgy.

A quick way to rule out any issue with the cable or the monitor is to plug it into another working computer, if it works fine then the problem lies with your computer and more specifically your graphics card.

But One problem remain and that is when ever i turn of my PC, Monitor stay turned ON with black screen and with message in the box "Check signal cable" before i didn t have that problem and now in order to turn off the monitor i must use power off button, is there any other way to fix that?

What does it mean when monitor says no analog signal?

its not plugged in. Make sure the cable (usually blue on the end) is firmly plugged into both the monitor and the computer. It wil probably have little screws o nthe side to keep it plugged in.

If this is all right, but you still get the message, odds are either the cable or monitor is damaged. if you can replace the cable, try that, but if not, it's ruined. Time to get a new monitor. (Well, not totally ruined, you could send it to a repair shop, but that would be over $500, in which case you might as well buy a new monitor.
