What Does It Mean When Charlie Perks Of Being A Wallflower Is Bad Again

The Perks of Being a Wallflower (2012 movie): Did Charlie wanted Aunt helen to be dead?

Thank you for the A2A.I have read the book and watched the movie, and I don't feel that he wished her to be dead, at least not initially. I too think that  he felt guilt about the incident in his childhood rather than abused. He loved his aunt, and felt responsible for her death.  Such feelings are a toll on most adult heads, think about Charlie who was just a child then. My guess is that even  as a teenager up until he met Sam, he didn't feel abused by his Aunt, and still harbored immense love for her. Only when he realizes that Sam too likes him, maybe even loves him,  does  he recall his childhood incidents as the horrific happenings that they were. I feel that up until Sam's acceptance of Charlie, he felt that the only human who truly loved him was his Aunt Helen and that's why he repressed the memory of his abuse, as already having lost her he didn't want to tarnish her memory. Once he realizes that someone apart from Helen possibly loves him, he realizes that maybe even as a child, his subconscious mind understood the truth and wanted Aunt Helen dead, hence the call to his sister.

What is the meaning of the perks of being wallflower?

The essence of the movie, according to me has to be about living in the moment or to be able to live in the moment.A wallflower can be best described as a quote by Patrick to introduce Charlie, sic above. This movie is for the world to see, try to understand & not judge, try to empathize and finally take steps over omitting situations leading to have such mental state and in spite of the past, to cherish the tenacity of humanity to persevere and survive.Charlie is an introverted guy, doesn't talk much, share spaces with less people and for him, life has regular time-outs, which debilitating for the time, perturb the concoction of emotions until he is able to grasp the reality, as we see it.As a kid, he was molested by his Aunt, who was his favorite person in the world. He has partially suppressed the memory which in turn clouds him with guilt as she left the house to bring gift for him one day, where she met a fatal accident. Now, this way of living is hell for a regular human being, but the pain is not obvious. He is scraping through putting on a calm facade. Even his parents don't know half of his scarring life moments. The guilt overshadows his reality when he is alone and he has real problems dealing with it.He opts for a better option, he looks towards other people to find validation, put them ahead first, is unable to love himself despite anything. The guilt inside doesn't allow him to treat himself rightly, there is a battle going on inside, he is alone and unarmored. He is smitten while meeting Sam for the first time. She is exactly what he isn't, a free soul with some depth. She is a novel idea these days, however I’d never wish for a girl to endure a past like her.As soon he understands that she is also a victim of the idea of love, the felt connection deepens. He helps her in need and she helps him feel okay to be a misfit in a crowd. The last scene of the movie is about being present in the moment and how Sam and Patrick, being unabashedly themselves, liberated Charlie to live in the moment. The world needs Charlie with ample childhood and adolescence.Peace.

What does the title "The Perks of Being a Wallflower" mean?

A wallflower is someone who is not very social and doesn't have many friends. They stand in the background and no one really notices them. Charlie is shy and socially awkward. He doesn't talk that much or interact with very many people. Charlie is a wallflower.

I guess that perks of being one can be that you can see how others interact with one another and you can learn some things about people if you listen and don't speak.

What does "the perks of being a wallflower" title mean EXACTLY ?

Help with 'The Perks of Being a Wallflower'?

Charlie buried the memories of the sexual abuse by his Aunt Helen. He doesn't even remember them at the beginning of the story. Since her death, he's only been able to remember all the wonderful things that she did with him. When he's helping Sam pack, when he and Sam get physical, it brings back the feelings from the sexual abuse by his Aunt Helen. He may have been thinking about Helen dying, and leaving him, but he wasn't thinking about her abusing him until Sam touched him. And even then, he wasn't even sure of why he was so bothered by Sam's touching him. He didn't know why it bothered him, I don't think he even associated it with Aunt Helen at that time.

His parents knew that Helen had been sexually abused (I don't remember by who) but they were unaware that she had sexually abused Charlie. Charlie's thoughts of his aunt are positive because he's repressed all the negative things.

I'm not sure on this one. I assumed that he took medication for depression. Since he missed an entire year of school before the story begins, I assumed that he had some sort of episode that requires him to take anti-depressants. Charlie's problems all stem from his relationship with his Aunt Helen. He can't go on repressing all those feelings without having some mental issues especially as he becomes sexually mature. However, his mental problems are ones that will improve with therapy, he's not defective, he's just had things happen to him that he needs help to get through.

What are the perks of being a wallflower?

First off, thank you Sehba Siddiqui for asking me this question. There are a number of perks to being a Wallflower. The one I think is at the top, is their ability to objectively view human behaviour. They have the insane ability to judge human interactions, gatherings and minglings through an 'outsider's' point of view. This quality lends to them an understanding of just how facetious our existence at times is. This view allows to them look at the bigger picture and let the petty things slide. All in all, you want someone to do good just for you - look for an attached, sociable person, you want someone to do good for a larger community - look for the Wallflower.

If you have read Perks of Being a Wallflower, what do you think "I feel Infinite" means?

This was my favourite book for years. I read it when I was 14. The line "I feel Infinite" is really open for interpretation.

From my point of view, I feel like when Charlie feels infinite, he feels untouchable. Free. Free of fear, of hesitation. He feels like he is safe. He's had bad experiences with his aunt and is prone to fear, which is also present in him sometimes at school: fear of interacting with other people of his age. So when he feels infinite, it is this sense of belonging. Of being alive. Its like your life...is finaly going somewhere. And your heart is beating faster in your breast, and you get this warm, happy feeling all over. And everything about the moment you're in...the people...the place...the stars...the music...you, amongst all of it...fits. Its like what he feels when he finaly reaches his moments of what he considers to be perfection in that period of his life.

Its a great book. to enjoy again and again. I hope my interpretation helped!

What is the meaning of being a wallflower?

Question: What is the meaning of being a wallflower?I shall be 86 years old next month, so the definition might have changed since I was in my twenties, so here is the modern definition by Merriam-Webstera :a person who from shyness or unpopularity remains on the sidelines of a social activity (such as a dance)b :a shy or reserved person.Wallflowers are solely female. She becomes a wallflower because she sits in front of the wall waiting to be asked to dance and no one does. One definition is that a wallflower is a ‘loner’. I would argue with that. A loner wouldn’t have been at a dance, sitting on the sidelines waiting for someone to ask her to dance. Also a wallflower was not necessarily a shy person. In the old days no lady would have been so bold as to ask a man to dance with her. Often, there were far more women than men at the ball, so there was bound to be wallflowers when there weren’t enough men to be partners. As well, many men were shy themselves and avoided asking a girl to dance in case she said no.I found the secret of avoiding being a wallflower when I was young. All you had to do was to pick a pleasant looking man who might be looking your way and just smile directly at him. Every time I did that, the man would immediately come to ask me to dance. I was amazed when that happened the first time, so I did it again and it worked every time. The worst thing to do was to be deep in conversation with another female. Nobody would want to interrupt, so it was a sure way to become a wallflower.I hope this helps.

I didn't get the ending of "Perks of being a wallflower"?

Like esp the part where Sam touched Charlie's thigh(or was it the other way round?)
and there were a series of flashbacks...then Charlie wanted to do something crazy at
his house...did he harm himself? Also the Aunt..did she harm herself, I saw her wrist...
then next thing his in hospital...what?? And did the Aunt molest him or something??

BQ: Any recommendations of Youtubers I could watch...not the extremly popular ones
that everyone knows about...funny people..

Help in understanding 'perks of being a wallflower'?

Okaaayy so yes his Aunt Helen did rape him and thats why she was all like 'This will be our little secret'. Also thats what Charlie was like really uncomfortable when Sam was touching his leg. Aunt Helen also had a history of dating abusive boyfriends. Anyway thats also the reason why Charlie is always so quiet and awkward because he was molested whe he was little. So when Sam and Patrick moved away to college Charlie had a panic attack and so he had to go to the hospital and get counselling. Also his parents didn't know so he was like 'the worst day was when they told my parents what my Aunt Helen did to me' I hope this helped and I LOVE the Perks of Being a Wallflower <3 and the book is also pretty good. Oh and Charlie thinks that he was responsible for her death because she was on her way to buy him a birthday present and Charlie thinks if he were born on a different day she would still be alive.
