What Does It Mean When Fasfa Says

My EFC on fafsa says EFC of "00004", what does this means?

Your EFC or Expected Family Contribution is a number that the federal government comes up with to determine how much federal aid you will qualify for. Typically, the lower your EFC, the higher your ability to qualify for grant monies form the government.

What does it mean when it says 00000 C on the fafsa?

The last person is only half right about the "C". You have been flagged.

This could mean several things.....
You may have a defaulted student loan.
You may have exceeded your loan limits.
You may have an overpayment.
Selective service status can not be verified.
Citizenship can not be verified.
Name can not be verified.
Veteran status can not be verified
Drug conviction ..

You have to look on your sar report to see what the issue is.

If my EFC says 00000 * C what does that mean?

This means that your Expected Family Contribution (EFC) is 0. The lower your EFC, the less your family is reasonably able to contribute to your own education, meaning you have more financial need.

With a EFC of 0, you will qualify for up to $4,310 in Federal Pell Grant for one full academic year if you are a full-time student. You may also qualify for other state or campus-based aid, so check with your school's financial aid office.

The asterisk (*) next to the EFC number indicates that you are selected for verification. This means that you must submit verification worksheets and federal tax return forms for yourself and possibly your parents (if their info was required on your FAFSA and if you or they filed a return). Contact your financial aid office to find out where to locate the worksheet you must complete and for any more info regarding other documents that might be needed. You must submit these things for review by a Financial Aid Counselor before any money will be disbursed.

What does it mean when your FAFSA says EFC00000?

EFC = Expected Family Contribution, which is how much your family is expected to contribute to your education. In this case, that amount is zero. In other words, you are eligible for 100% funding for your tuition and room/board. If you recently got this figure, it applies to the current (2015/2016) academic year, which ends in May/June 2016. You must complete a NEW FAFSA every year. As soon after 1 January 2016 as you can, fill out the form again. You can use the information you filed on the first one, indicated "no change" and submit it (unless there is a dramatic change you want to report). The new FAFSA will apply to the 2016/2017 academic year, which will begin late August 2016. A lot of students are not aware that you must file the FAFSA every year, so be sure you remember to do so.

My FAFSA says my EFC is 00000* . What does this mean?

EFC is your "Expected Family Contribution" and if it is all 0's then this means you will qualify for the maximum Pell Grant. The max for Pell Grant is $5550.00. This is normally split in half...if you are going to a credit hour college then it will be $2775.00 for your fall and $2775.00 for your spring semesters. If you are going to a clock hour school, then you will probably receive all of the $5550.00 but at certain hours that you reach. It will all be explained in further detail once you are enrolled in college and are receiving financial aid. Also normally the asterik (*) means that you are selected for verification. Don't let that freak you out...30% of people that enroll in each college are selected for verification and it's just a way to verify the information on your FAFSA. Most colleges only require "proof of income"...which if you put on your FAFSA you filed a 1040, then they need a copy of that. If you receive Social Security Benefits - a copy of that, etc. They will also want you to list the people in your household. Some colleges require more....some don't.

Also, your EFC does not give away any type of status as to what your income is. It all depends on if the income is taxed or untaxed, how much you make PLUS the people in your household. You can make $28,000 with 2 people in the household and get a 0 EFC....and I've seen people who have make $60,000 with 5 people in the household get a 0 EFC...there is more criteria that goes into determining someone's EFC then JUST income.

A good website to go to for more information is www.studentloans.gov or www.finaid.org. If you have any more questions or would like me to explain anything in further detail, send me an email :)

What does it mean when FAFSA says that it's processed?

They have taken all the information and they are now preparing your SAR report. You should get an email very shortly that your SAR report is ready to view with a link to it. Then they will send it to your colleges you listed on the SAR. I am not sure about the IRS question but here is some info I found on it. http://www.aasa.org/uploadedFiles/Policy...

I think what what it is is if you are just starting your FAFSA and you do the already filed, if you want you can choose that link to the IRS so they will access the tax info and fill in all the blanks for you, but you can choose to enter it yourself, which is what you did already, since you were trying to change it later. I read this so that is why I am saying this: http://www.collegeloanconsultant.com/FAF...

So that is my opinion on the second question so just verify that, but that is how I see it.

My EFC on my fafsa says 00000* what does this mean???

My school told me I dont have to pay anything that everything is covered? if the number is 00000* is it covered??? Please help! 10 points to best answer with most knowledge

MY FAFSA satus says Processed, does that mean its done or do I have more waiting to do?

Having it processed is just the first step in getting fin aid from your school. Mark your calendar, because you won't likely know exactly how much finanical aid you will be getting for another 6 - 8 weeks or so.
You need to contact your schools and find out what they need from you to complete your fin aid file. Often times they will have additional paperwork for you to fill out and sometimes have you turn in tax forms and W2 forms.

After that you will be sent an award letter with the amounts detailed. You have to either accept or decline the different kinds of aid. It his then when you fill out paperwork for loans and parent loans. Like i said, it is a PROCESS!!! That can take some time. Also be aware the money goes to your school, not you. And if you have any left over it usually isnt issued to you until a few weeks after the semester has started.
