What does it mean when someone says to "quantify" their statement?
QUANTIFY, an Integrated Project coordinated by the DLR-Institute of Atmospheric Physics, was started in March 2005 with a large kick-off event in Landshut. It deals with the climate impact of transport and is funded until 2010 by the European Commission within the 6th research framework programme. QUANTIFY also includes the DLR Institute of Transport Research (Berlin) and the Research Flight Facility Oberpfaffenhofen. In total, 35 participants and 4 associated members from 16 European countries and the U.S.A. are cooperating in QUANTIFY. The research topics are organized in 8 closely linked subprojects. They focus on quantification of the impact of air, sea and land traffic on the global climate. Accompanying measurement campaigns with research aircraft are an innovative part of QUANTIFY. Further goals are the dissemination of results through a web portal with eLearning function, a summer school, and the organisation of an international conference.
It means the same as you predicted mate !! Money has been taken out of your account either by you yourself, or upon your instructions, by way of an auto debit instruction given by you, by the Bank being recovery of a loan or overdraft you had taken and overdue payable by you to the Bank or withdrawal by way of any fraudulent transaction not initiated by you etc. Most of the times a brief explanation is available on the statement of account however, in case of absence or lack of understanding on your part, the matter, should be referred to the Bank.
What does this statement mean?
No more dismal view of man can be imagined- (imagine something very sad) than the one that seems to inspire our public school buildings- (that which you imagined is very sad is used to describe public schools) in other words, the school system is dismal (which means very sad, without hope)
Having a hunch, the meaning of this, in Literal explanation, is here below; When you are in a business meeting , one thing that needs to be resolved was first listed in the agenda. i. e.1. To give best idea on how to improve the concervative services of their restaurant business to make it adheres on the present modern era where all the competitors are being equipped with the advanced technological machineries and gadgets on cooking and serving. As the result, there are a number of opinions/ideas have been considered by the presider, but the presider needs only to choose 3 better ideas. Then, The presider got only 2 ideas, he still need 1 idea to complete the 3 that he needs. After reading your presented idea, the committee on selection was convinced by your explanation. The committee members voted your idea to include on the best 3 that they need. The committee speaker said; we need to qualify a statement from Mr. Right (that was you) to be considered on the 3 best idea that we need for the improvement and the betterment of our services in the present era.
What does it mean when someone says their Puerto Rican from birth & Mexican in the heart?
Some people mythologize other cultures and feel like if they just pander enough they can become that thing. We see this a lot in the US where suburban white kids buy a few rap songs and suddenly start talking like Lil' Wayne. But Puerto Rican island culture bears almost no similarity to Mexican culture except perhaps in the dominant language and religion. So whomever is saying this is just kind of a poser.
What does it mean when someone says, "Women are illogical"?
It means he's suffering from Irritable Male Syndrome. Don't take him seriously, he can't help being illogical: “Testosterone levels and sperm counts are highest in late fall and early winter… the peak times for human births in the Northern Hemisphere is around August or September – 9 months after the high testosterone levels of the preceeding fall.” (Heroes, Rogues, and Lovers: Testosterone and Behavior). According to Jed Diamond in The Irritable Male Syndrome, testosterone levels cycle throughout the year: “Studies conducted in the US, France, Australia found that men secrete their highest levels of sex hormones in October and their lowest levels in April.” The irritable male syndrome is characterized by a “state of hypersensitivity, anxiety, frustration, and anger that occurs in males and is associated with biochemical changes, hormonal fluctuations, stress, and a loss of male identity.” Diamond claims that there is a seasonal aspect to the irritable male syndrome that makes men “more irritable when days shorten and there is less light. The decline in testosterone between October and April may contribute to this irritability.”
What does it mean when someone says you are too nice?
Hmmm, she just came up to you and said that? It wasn't worked into a conversation you were already having with her? And she doesn't know you too well? I would be a little confused, perturbed by a statement like that. It's like she doesn't have a legitimate complaint against you, so she took an opportunity to say something out of the blue for no reason at all that would cause you to think that you've done something. I'm contemplating this woman making the statement "you are too nice" and I would think that an explanation should follow suit for the comment. It's like an incomplete thought just hanging in the air that is sure to cause awkwardness. There's nothing wrong with being nice. As long as you're not a pushover, than everything is fine. Keep being you and I would distance myself from that woman. I'm glad you laughed it off, don't be upset. I don't believe you're overthinking the situation. Even if she didn't mean anything by it, that woman needs to express herself clearly so people don't misunderstand what she means to say. But it's not your job to teach her that life lesson.
It’s a way to ensure that a meeting doesn’t waste time considering a suggestion that only one person cares about. A motion is a formal suggestion made in a meeting. When someone says “I second the motion,” he is showing that at least one other person is interested in discussing it (a second person), and it can then be discussed; if no one seconds it, a motion is dropped.
The use of the word to end a statement simply punctuates the fact that it is the end of the statement. It typically has two uses. One is to follow up on some previous statement made by someone else by shortening it, thereby making the statement mean something different. It can be a play on words, or it can be used to express an opinion of wider scope than a previous speaker. The second is to emphasize that there are no qualifiers, mitigating clauses or other “loopholes” that could potentially be applied to the statement to make it less meaningful.
