What do you think about the riots in ferguson?
I for one am tired of hearing about it and I think it was an atrocity that they would burn the American flag. I mean, I'm Also upset about the way Brown's murder was handled but I think that the protesters and riots are a little much. What's your opinion?
As President Obama prepares to leave office, what do Indonesians think of "anak menteng" today? Is it a disapointment he didn't visit Indonesia again?
He’s leaving office, with legacy of the world more dangerously closer to World War III. Also, remember the chain of event that started as “Arab Spring” and ended up in this coming rider of apocalypse called ISIS. He, as the president of the world's superpower, had his track record filled with this in international stage.How about domestic policy? Was he becoming the president with several time facing “government shutdown” due to conflicts with the congress a good one? How about that “black lives matter” movements that went all over USA? Police brutality, cities fell into riots (remember Ferguson, Missouri?), etc.Under Obama, USA is getting weaker. Militarily, it is a fraction of what it used to be. How about that multi trillion dollar stealth fighter that barely combat ready? F-35, anyone? Morally, no one looks up at the US anymore. Gone have the days of JFK or even Ronald Reagan where what the white house thinks mattered morally. Anyone remembers that the US State department used to publish grades on countries based on their human right treatment? The state department still publish those, but nobody cares now. Not after the treatment in Guantanamo, the torture in secret prisons, Abu Ghuraib, and last but not least, how blacks are treated back home.So, Obama is leaving office. What do I think about that as an Indonesian? I think his hair turned grey quite significantly. Must be stresses from the job. And I see a waning USA.
What were things President Obama got wrong?
Obama was an incrementalist in a time when people needed real change to happen. That is the principal reason why we have Trump now. A lot of people got hurt in the downturn and although the US economy has emerged from the 2007 financial meltdown thanks to Obama, a lot of Americans did not; so, now we have Trump.The excuse that there was a Republican Congress most of the time has some truth to it but Obama failed completely to provide anything visionary for the future. He never got up in front of the American people and articulated what can be done only what he may be allowed to do.For example, Obama’s vision of healthcare was to implement an idea proposed by the ultra-conservative Heritage Foundation and first implemented by a Republican Governor Mitt Romney. This was the ACA and basically tries to fix the stupidest healthcare system in the world with nothing more than the equivalent of duct tape. It would only prolong the pain. Obama never talked about the real shortcomings of the private health insurance system. He failed to mention that the US has among the worst patient outcomes with by far the highest patient costs.We never got any closure on the torture and renditions that happened during the Bush administration. The wars were continued.The Obama administration supported giving radical Muslim sects weapons if they were against Assad resulting in an even worse problem in Syria and Iraq.College Students went into deeper and deeper debt during Obama’s time without Obama articulating a clear vision of what should be done about College tuition,Obama waited too long to get rid of the nationwide testing required by the Bush era No Child Left Behind initiative. The effectiveness of K-12 education declined during the Obama years. There was no effective leadership there either.Obama failed to speak boldly about climate change. He failed to call it what it really is, an existential threat to humanity.Obama failed to provide an effective vision of Space exploration.The forces that caused the original financial meltdown in 2007 remain in place. No bankers were punished. The worlds economy is completely dependent on the quantitative easing. The Fed still owns trillions of dollars worth of bad assets on its balance sheet that it cannot get rid of. Basically there is no reason 2007 won’t happen again only this next time it will be worse.
Why does President Obama support the Trans Pacific Partnership when so many black American males are unemployed and underemployed?
Because economists believe that free trade provides more jobs than it costs. The TPP opens up Pacific nations for American goods. It lowers the costs for US consumers while creating new market American goods abroad. It creates more global competition, encouraging efficiency and innovation.It is far better to care for the few losers in a trade deal than to punish the entire nation with protectionism. The protectionism of the 1930s was a major cause of WWII and lengthened the Great Depression in a beggar-thy-neighbor reaction to economic collapse.
What has Obama done for black people?
Obama doesn't care about black people...that is obvious, he just uses them to gain political points....what has he done for any of them ??? And for once I agree with something Summertime said,obama has helped white people...rich white people...he cares nothing for the poor..black,white,brown or yellow...nothing ! I wonder what Summertime thinks she knows...that the rest of us would be surprised about ??,she is hilarious ! "You'd be surprised " lol lol lol !
