What Does One Need To Do To Become An Mma Fighter

How do I become an MMA fighter?

Shotokan Karate has been the primary martial art in which I’ve trained throughout my life.I’ve been training in MMA for about the last 4 years or so, and I can tell you that the best place to start is the basics.Start with boxing for punching/defense/head movement/slips/footwork, Muay thai for kicking (and punching), and wrestling and some BJJ for the ground. The website Muay Thai articles written by real fighters is a good place for solid Muay Thai tips.Another decent one is mmatrainingcentral.com. This site appears to be more centered around MMA in general, as opposed to just one art/style.Either way, they are both good resources for you to start your MMA training.Remember, keep reading, keep learning, and train hard but train smart as well.Best,Michael.

How long does it take to become a good mma fighter?

There is no set time, depends on prior training, athletic abilty, stregnth, toughness. It takes a few years of training at least to become a good MMA fighter but you also need a lot of training in different aspects from boxing, kickboxing, grappling, wrestling, juijitsue, and others. It will take at least 2-3 years to become a good MMA fighter.

The first thing is, I think you need to rethink your diet and exercise plan. You NEED carbs if you're suddenly going to be expending a lot more energy, and sodium is necessary to keep you hydrated. And you shouldn't need to spend that much time on "cardio/weight lifting". Also, unless you're in really good shape to begin with, training 4 hours a day, 6 days a week may be too much for your body to handle, particularly since you're close to 30. Rest and recovery are overlooked but important parts of training. Check out this interview with renowned MMA conditioning coach Martin Rooney:

As for the rest, it'll take as long as it takes. If you're looking for an amateur fight, the standards are a bit lower than pro, but depending on any number of factors, we're looking at anywhere from six months to three years. Don't think of it in terms of how long it takes, think of it in terms of how good you are. And maybe do some grappling, boxing, or kickboxing matches along the way. But until you can at least hang with the competitive guys at the gym, or win some competitions in other venues, I wouldn't think about competing in full MMA.

I'm 22, can I become an MMA fighter?

Yes. Train hard for few months and you can have your first amateur fight. Can you become pro and compete for a major organisation? That is a different question. In addition to talent it takes great deal of dedication, focus and hard work to get there. It also takes a bit of luck along the way to avoid major injuries that would take you off the track. How to get there. Find a good MMA gym that focuses on all aspects of the game and train hard and never give up and try to be the best in that gym. Once you out-grow that place time to move on. If it’s a major gym where top level fighters train you might stick around for a long time. Good luck.

How can I become a pro mma fighter?

I know you have to train alot, be commited, and really want to do it and fight amateur first. But after all that how can I get on the a pro card? Do I just have to get a licence and thats it?

How can you become a pro mma fighter ?

you dont need a black belt

find a mma training gym in your area, that does cage fight tournaments
eventually they will sign you up for local amateur cage fights

and if your good, you work your way up the ladder

good luck

fyi your chances of becoming professional(enough to live off of) are about the same as anyone making it to the nfl

What kind of education do you need to become a mma fighter?

To be very specific you would not need any degree. Fighters do not take courses in college, they take them in the gym. The degree to which you advance has nothing to do with educational ability.

That being said, most fighters do have both a high school and often college degree. Think about it like this. Fighting is a thinking man's game. The days of just pounding a guy into oblivion are gone. Fighters are much better these days and many MMA matches are almost like chess matches. Intelligence does play a factor.

So train hard to fight, and stay in school to train your brain. That way if fighting goes great you will stay have a mind to spend your money in good investments, and if it does not work out, you still have that degree!

Good Luck!
