What does The Giver mean by...?
wow... i remember reading the giver last year.... i hated it lol :) but anyways, this is what it means: - when the chief elder says "thank you for your childhood," it basically signifies that the child has become an adult - when the giver says he is so weighted with them, imagine being weighed down with something..... basically he is saying that he is holding many memories, and in some parts of the book, it mentions, how much the burden of the memories aged him. hope this helps! :)

In The Giver, what does the expression "Thank you for your childhood" mean?
In the book, the phrase "Thank you for your X" is used often as praise for sharing personal experiences with others. The society these people have created values homogeneity and encourages people to share their all of their thoughts and experiences with one another so they can then encourage good behavior and groom the perfect citizens. For example, it's basically a law to disclose to your family if you've had a dream and to share the details. Most dreams are mundane and routine, but the real purpose of forcing this practice is to find out when a child starts thinking about sex, upon which they start drugging them to kill the kid's libido. But every day after anyone shares their dream, it's the standard response to say, "Thank you for your dream." On the one hand, you can take this at face value and it's literally "thanks for sharing." But on the other, it's also saying, "thanks for giving up some of your freedom for our sake."In my view, saying "Thank you for your childhood" is mostly a formal acknowledgement that someone's childhood is coming to a close. They say this at a graduation ceremony when the children move on to what is basically job training. At face value, it means "good job, you're not just a kid anymore!" Saying "thank you", though, gives the subtext that childhood was something that the person shared or gave up/sacrificed for the greater good. Childhood was indeed shared in this society as kids were heavily monitored big brother style, and it was structured to be a very communal experience (your childhood is as similar to everyone else's as much as possible -- down to the dress code and when you can ride a bike). But you can also view those as ways in which they weren't given a real childhood at all, as it cut opportunities for individual learning and growth. And now, they'll be thrown into the real world where they're no longer sheltered from things like death and they still have little control over the situation. TL;DR It means "Thanks for letting us control your life since birth, and your time of sheltered innocence is over."
Someone was a reference for me. How do I thank them. I don't know how to word it.?
Do I say, "thank you for being a reference for me to mr. john"? Or is there some other more eloquent way of saying it? "Thank you for putting in a good word for me" sounds a bit strange.
What does it mean when a guy says, “thanks, love”?
It depends on the situation due to which he/she said this line.Case 1 - Suppose you both are in relationship and he/she used this phrase then he/she is pleased to have you as his/her soulmate.Case 2 - If you both are best friends then its just a way to express his/her friendship and concern for having you as a best friend.Case 3 - If you both are just friends then its nothing but just a way of expressing of some people which vary significantly person to person..!
When writing thank you notes, should I reference the gift given if it was money?
Thank the person for the gift, without mentioning “money” or the amount. When I gifted money to my nephews or nieces I really liked it if they told me what they intended to use it for, or had spent it on. It is not necessary but it will be appreciated.

I need an answer for this question, Thank you.?
i guess you could scan it and send it...or just type the reason for referral, it will usually have an authorization number that you have to get from the insurance company , most of them, for approval of the referral, type that, the patient information, and the ICD-9 codes....usually you would call it in or fax it, which i would prefer...and always document it, even if you have the sent email, still write....sent email w/info, blah..at whatever time and initial.....things get "lost" or sabotage....
