What Does This Mean Native Speakers Plss

What does Shona mean in Hindi?

Same as calling someone sweetie. It is a term to call someone loved. It is a variation of the word Sona which means gold in Hindi.

What is your native language?

Thanks for A2AMy mother tongue is Pahari-Pothwari. It lies somewhere between Hindko and Punjabi.I love this language as it just roles off my tongue without any effort. When i was a young school boy and started learning Urdu. I always thought my mother was speaking a wrong version of Urdu and I often used to correct her that always made her smile. I never knew why she smiled because to me she was terrible in Urdu. Over the years i learnt that Urdu is only for official and school purposes whereas Pahari is every day language. Thankfully in Mirpur we are not that obsessed with Urdu. We all speak Pahari or as outsiders call it Mirpuri.Early part of my teens i was fluent in Urdu and English but not so good in my mother tongue. Thankfully i gained the ground back when i was in high school. I started having conversations with elders who never went to school to pick up the accent and few words that were dying in the mainstream thanks to Urdu and English. I was excellent in Arabic and always achieved the highest marks in school.Difference between Pahari-Potwari and PunjabiPothwariMain karsaan ਮੈਂ ਕਰਸਾਂ میں کرساں ‬PunjabiMain karanga ਮੈਂ ਕਰਾਂਗਾ میں کرانگا ‬PothwariAs karneya ਅਮੀੰ ਕਰਨੇਆ اسس کارنعےا ‬PunjabiAsi karaange ਅਸੀਂ ਕਰਾਂਗੇ اسی کرانگے ‬PothwariTu karna ਤੂ ਕਰਨਾ تو کرنا ‬PunjabiTu karenga ਤੂੰ ਕਰੇਂਗਾ توں کریں گا ‬PothwariTus karleya ਤੁਸਾਂ ਕਰਸੋ تسس کرلیا ‬PunjabiTusi karoge ਤੁਸੀਂ ਕਰੋਗੇ تسی کروگے ‬Source WikipediaYou can see its very similar but words vary once you go further in detail. My biggest worryAll the languages I have learned over the years are in serious limbo right now. My wife is English who can only speak one language and now my children are speaking English as mother tongue. I have been thinking for a while what to do with this situation as my priority is to make my children good Muslim first so they will definitely learn Quran (Arabic). I will have to sacrifice Urdu and start speaking my mother tongue (Pahari) with them soon as it’s pointless to teach them Urdu Or in other case I will speak Urdu with them and sacrifice my mother tongue. My wife knows all the Pakistani cooking, culture and she even understands the Pahari conversation when me and my brother speak in front of her. I just don’t want to push her any further as she has changed her total lifestyle for me. She can say introductory sentences in Pahari when she speaks with my father. Lets hope i am successful in transferring my language fully to my next generation. Thanks for reading

What is the difference between fluent and native language speakers?

What is the difference between fluent and native language speakers?Who qualifies as a native language speaker? Does native imply a better command of the language than someone who is merely fluent?A native speaker grew up with the language, they learnt it by osmosis as a small child, and they will think of the phonemes in that language as natural and distinct.A non-native speaker who is fluent in the language in question didn't grow up with it, they learnt it later on, and they will always face some hurdles that native speakers won't, especially when it comes to phonology.I would say that yes, native speakers do have a better command of the language in one way, they know the colloquial registers pretty much perfectly, and their accents are impeccable. What they might not know on the other hand is the formal language, especially the written version, and here the non-native fluent speaker has the upper had, since that's exactly the register they were first taught. In other words, the answer to your question is 'it's complicated'. Still, in any given language, there are way more native speakers who know the formal written language well, than non-natives who know both it and the more colloquial registers.

It is too idle to kiss your elders' hands though nowadays. even if Adriana comes and offers to kiss me, it would not effect me at all. lol jokes, ofcourse it would. Adriana rocks!!!!

Translate this love letter please, English to Tagalog?

Dear girl,

I'm writing another letter to you, because I love to write what I am feeling for you and getting a hand written letter, in my opinion, is so much better than a text message or an email.

I wanted to tell you how deeply in love I am with you. You know this already, but I of course wanted to remind you if it.

The distance that separates us, I feel, has only made our love stronger. The desire to be with one another, only gets greater and greater.

One day, some day, no matter how you decide to look at it, we will be together. I know it in my heart, believe it in my head, and feel it in my soul.

We always say that forever is a long time, and for sure, it truly is. I'm not planning it taking forever to be with you once again, my plan is to be with you forever.

I said before, that night that I was text messaging you so much, that our paths crossed that one special night; be it fate, or destiny, it happened. And when I left and continued to keep in touch with you, our paths became closer.

Now, with the way we are, our paths are side by side. We walk together, in different paths, but we do this knowing our paths will be joined in the future, one day, someday.

Until that time I make these promises to you: I will love you always, with the love that a woman like you deserves. I will care for you always, with all of my heart.  I will never give up on you, and never lead you the wrong way. I promise you my love.

I love you, for so many reasons. Most of which, is because you are you. I never feel that you are acting in your love for me. It feels real, pure, honest and unabated. I believe in your love.

I only ask of you this; accept me for whom I am, and please never let your heart voluntarily give up on me. Waiting for me is entirely up to you. I will love you, one day at a time, step by step forever if you allow me to.

I finish this letter now with one last message to you:

You are forever in my heart, from now, until the end of time, plus one day.

Take Care Always My Love,
Love, David

What is the best or most diplomatic way to say "no" if someone asks you to swap seats with them on an airplane?

I was on an international flight of 6 hours duration. I got the first row seat with extra leg room. When I entered the flight, I saw an elderly couple sitting in my aisle seat and the window seat(not mine). The couple behaved ignorant as I told about my seat. They requested me to take the second row seat as it is assigned to them. They claimed being handicapped, which they weren't. Just to respect their age, I agreed and moved to the second row. Few minutes later , a lady with an infant walked and told them to leave her window seat. It's the window seat they are occupying too. The lady with infant is a deserving passenger to have the front seat as the bassinet seat can be fixed only to the front row and she paid for it. The elderly couple now refuses to get up from the place . Although they are not sitting in their assigned seats. They started requesting her to move in back row. That's insane. Mean while I suggested the elder couple to give her the seat and the handicapped person can still remain seated in front row. This was turning crazy, the oldies are not ready to move back, not ready for the idea of separating themselves for any cause. I felt they were selfish, I cursed myself for helping the mean people. The flight attendant came and moved all of us back to our assigned seats. I overheard the old couple talking nonsense about the single lady. That was sick. As the flight took off , I found another seat few rows back and gave mine to the infant for their comfortable journey.I request everyone, please if you want to enjoy extra comforts, should better make prior arrangements and not to embarrass people around you.
