What Does This Nightmare Mean. And How Can I Shake It Off

Horrible gory nightmare.. what does this mean..?

For the record, I don't watch horror movies or read any horror novels. I honesty cannot think of a single reason why I had this nightmare. However, I do tend to have night terrors - but this was just a nightmare.

I can't remember exactly how it started. I was back in my old house, where I lived during my childhood (I did go through much trauma here, and I do have PTSD). I was in the woods behind the house where I normally go. Suddenly I see this man (I've never seen this man before) and I'm in his mind. He seems insane, like he's petting some cat (I've never had any cats) and whispering to it. But then I go back to my own mind, and I see what he's REALLY doing - he has a chainsaw and he's cutting through some girl (I've never seen her either). Her body is shaking vigorously with the movements of the chainsaw, there's blood everywhere and she's screaming. The man has some sort of hose pipe and as he's cutting through her with the chainsaw he's like raping her with the hose thing. There's blood everywhere and the man is whispering to her as she's doing this - he thinks he's just petting a cat, but in reality he's murdering and violating some girl. I woke up feeling horribly sick to my stomach and disgusted. I have nightmares all the time, but never have they been so gory or violent.

Please tell me what this all means. It's scaring me a lot. Thanks!

I had a nightmare and I woke up shaking...?

My friend thinks I went through an episode of sleep paralysis but I'm not so sure. In my dream I was sitting in a kitchen and this lady was standing at a sink. Something happened and I started laughing then just like that the ladies face was 2 inches from mine and her face became demonic and evil (kind of like the girl from the exorcist). She was saying something to me but I don't remember. I was shaking really bad in my dream, then when I finally woke up and I was actually physically shaking. I was scared to go back to sleep. I finally did and had yet another nightmare about a serial killer.

Was I experiencing sleep paralysis and why do I have so many nightmares?

Why do I keep having nightmares?

I've been having these nightmares and when I wake up I'm terrified note I'm 14. I would cry or wake up shaking and there all based around the same thing which is the paranormal. Now the paranormal is something I have a hard time with. Every little noise just gets me paranoid. Anyway let me tell you the first dream. Keep In mind I've been having these once a week. Okay so I'm in my house. It seemed so real.
First the cabinets would open and close the lights would freak out and whenever someone tried to touch me all hell would break lose like something was attached to me. Things would be throw and it got real violent. I woke up and I was shaking. I couldn't go to sleep for the rest of the week. It may not sound scary but it was. Now last weeks dream was kinda similar. It was almost less scary i can't really remember it but I was paranoid when I woke up. Now this weeks dream has been the worse. I woke up crying. So I'm in my bedroom right. I'm sleeping when I feel something grab on the my ankle. Nothing's there though. Something starts tugging on my ankle. I grip the bed and now it really starts pulling. I couldn't scream like something was holding my mouth and then it all stopped. I rushed into my parents bedroom and got into bed with them. They wouldn't wake up though. I burried myself under the covers until I felt something on my back. Like someone was there. I slowly lean over and I'm leaning on someone... But its not my dad. Again I can't see anything just feel. This thing started to suffocate me. I couldn't scream. I shook my mom or tried but she wouldn't wake up. I woke up a mess but here's the weird thing though. I went to bed in my room that night i always do but I woke up in my parents bed.... I live in a small townhouse and i don't believe it's haunted. I just don't know. I have school soon and it's starting to effect me bad. What do you thinks happening?

What does it mean if you wake up shivering?

It means you are either too cold , had a full bladder or just had a bad nightmare. Our body temperatures drop as we fall asleep, so try not to use fans or air conditioning at a high level when sleeping. Dont drink too much water before sleeping, if u want to avoid a full bladder. Nightmares if keep recurring could be steaming from psychology, u need a psychologist help to get over it.

What is the best way to get back to sleep after having a nightmare?

Nightmares are the common thing happens to all of us at some or other times. But 80 % - 85 % of nightmares occurs only because of our hidden phobias / fears or what we can call is all the mental distractions (worrying about any issue) and thoughts which brings you down. Because our sub-conscious mind collects all the data (it can’t differentiate between good or bad) and it tries to reflect them back in some other way. The same thing happens in nightmares, most probably. So, you should calm down yourself with positive suggestions in daily life. Practicing breathing techniques in yoga can help you a lot for peaceful mind. So, instead of facing nightmares, try to avoid for maximum.

Why did I wake up with shivers and feeling cold after a nightmare?

I think it might be hard to find an answer to this. I have woke up literally freezing after having nightmares. Since I didn’t know the answer I googled the question using a few different ways to word it, and got a lot of information about raising body temperatures but not lower body temperatures. However then I considered the amount of stress that a person can experience during nightmares and looked up if body temperatures could drop from stress and it can. That stress is the reason is just a guess though and not fact. so unfortunately I didn’t help. I also like another answer you got from Tammy Greggs guess. Your body temperature does indeed drop when you are sleeping. So unfortunately I didn’t help. Still at least you know you are not alone with this kind of experience.
