What Dog Would Be Good To Get For A Small House With Garden

Is my house to small for my dogs?

I watched your video, and it looks like you have a nice sized garden. How many dogs do you have?
You're house didn't look too small, and I believe that as long as they get enough running space and excercise like walks etc. thats fine =)

Is a doberman pinscher good for a small house?

I live in a one bedroom apartment and my dobe doesn't shed too much - a lot less than my best friends' dogs. Dobes don't have an undercoat, ergo less shedding. Their fur is about the length and thickness of an eyelash.
Any dog will poo in a house if you don't house train it. They are quick to learn, but you have to be consistent if you don't want accidents and keeping an eye on them is really helpful too.
They need TONS of exercise, more than just a couple days a week. A tired dog is a good dog. Kruzer gets about an hour and a half weekdays and longer on the weekends (depends on the weather.) These are not outside dogs, as they love being around their people. If they are left alone (inside or out) with little stimulation they will tear up a house and yard possibly hurting themselves in the process. My boy had self-destructive separation anxiety issues that took a while to overcome. I was at my wits' end for a few months. He's completely better now, and only tears something up if I leave it on top of the crate while he's in it with the door closed. After the ordeal with him, I'd rather go for a rescue dobe that is past the puppy stage since they can get into a lot of trouble on their own.
Socialization is going to be really important too. They need to meet lots of other people and dogs inside and out of your house if you want a well behaved dobe. Inside though, the most important tool for you is going to be a crate.
Training is important too. Find a good trainer (Petsmart even offers puppy classes) to teach you and your dog how to be good citizens. They love to have a job and if you give them the chance, they shine. :-D
Another thing to think about is if you have homeowners' insurance - a doberman might cancel your insurance. Check with your insurance company or leasing agent to find out if a dobe is okay to own.
It's not very fair to keep a high energy dog in a small house. Dobes love to run, so take them to dog parks to run on top of their regular exercise routine to keep them slim and trim as well as muscular. It's a lot of work owning this intelligent and loyal breed, but they're worth it!
Read up on the dpca website for more info on the breed and they can lead you to rescues in your area. If you need any more help let me know.

Would a plastic dog house make a good chicken coop?

I found a really cool plastic dog house at Sam's Club. I've been wanting to start raising chickens and thought this might make a good chicken coop. Please take a look at the photo, if you raise chickens, and let me know what you think.

What is an ideal size of your house if you have a pet dog (labrador)?

I have an 8 year old Labrador. As everyone else said, it's going to depend on what you prefer. I think having a park, lake, dog park, or a large yard (and good weather) would be better for the Lab than lots of space. My house is fairly average size, but it really doesn't matter for my dog because she follows me everywhere including the bathroom! You probably want enough room so that you can safely play fetch in the house; so your dog can have a big enough bed; and so your dog can play with their toys so 400sq ft. efficiency may not be ideal unless you have good enough weather that you can play with the dog outside each day. A bored dog is a destructive dog especially when it's a high energy dog like a Lab (remember: they were originally bred to help fishermen pull up nets and they are also used as sled dogs so they are practically inexhaustible). They also shed A LOT (and some of them are little drool monsters) so I would recommend having flooring that can be swept and mopped 2-3 times a week (NOT carpet!)---this is in addition to brushing them weekly too.

What small dog breed should i get?

Research breeds you like then look at your lifestyle house whether you have a garden how much exercise and time and training you can give to a dog .
No one can pick a dog for you i know nothing about you .

How small a yard can a German Shepherd dog reside in?

They only need enough grass to eliminate. The key is regular, daily walks off the property and mental stimulation through force-free positive reinforcement training, preferably clicker training. Dogs should be kept inside, not outside, for everyone's safety, including the dog so that the dog can interact with and develop a relationship with its family.

Are labrodor good apartment dogs?

Dogs don't care where they sleep: in a castle, an apartment, a kennel or your bedroom. What matters is what happens when they are awake. I have 9 border collies, the most active dog breed there is. Often people look at the 1 hectare of space we have around our farmhouse for the dogs to run around in, and say: "Ah yes, you can have so many dogs because you have such a big garden." Others come to me for consultations regarding a problem behaviour with their dog and tell me: "No, I don't need to take my dog out, I have a big garden." I'll let you in on a secret: the size of your garden is completely immaterial! Whenever I'm inside my house doing paperwork, my dogs all abandon the garden and all their toys and pack into my office where I work, sleeping in baskets, around my feet, under the desk... They could easily live in a one-bedroom apartment with me because -and here's the important part!- we spend most of our days outside, doing stuff! The few hours per day that they are inside, they rest and wait for the next outing. In the same way, if you are saying that your dog will sleep in your apartment but spend the day with you, going places, meeting people, being active and having a stimulating life: go ahead, get a labrador or any dog you want. But if you are saying that your dog will spend most of his day in the apartment, with few outings, and maybe even alone most of the time, then no, that is not a great life for any dog, especially a young one, and definitely not a labrador or any other working breed. What you can do however is adopt an elderly dog from a rescue center. Explain your situation to the staff and ask them to pick a dog for you with basic education, that needs less activity and will be okay to be alone the time that you are away every day.Good luck!
