What Drawing Tablet Should I Buy

Should i buy a drawing tablet or a piano?

Do whichever makes you happiest regardless of skill level, you will improve if you practice, and you will practice if doing so is fun.

What drawing tablet should I get as my first (80-120$)?

The good thing is that you are thinking and asking before you throw money at something that you will be using to learn a very demanding craft. However, there are two problems with me answering “get X tablet.” One, you are almost certainly not going to be able to trust an answer that you have not researched yourself. Two, you rob yourself of the experience of learning the ins and outs of your equipment and software.I use almost exclusively free equipment. Because of that I know a lot about what doesn’t work and how to get it to work well enough to get a job done. I hate shopping and have probably refunded as many things as I have kept. How to find a tablet that will work for you.Decide which computer, operating system(s), and software you are going to use.If you are buying new there is little likelihood that you will find a hardware incompatibility but it is important if you have an older computer. Is it a 32 or 64bit processor? All of the drivers had to be rewritten during this shift and a few tablets don’t work on both systems. The drivers for tablets are all specific to the OS that you are using. Find out whether or not the tablet you are looking at works with your OS.The software for drawing with tablets has functions that are more or less implemented in certain tablets. Painter, Procreate, Photoshop and on and on, all have different ways of making digital painting work and need a tablet that is supported with these functions. Photoshop, for instance, somehow requires the use of the Windows inking and touch drivers. Still? I don’t know. I got it working in Windows 10 but had some trouble with Windows 8.1 (? I can’t actually remember because once I got it working I forgot the steps I went through.) Almost every tablet works at least to move the cursor and then there are problems with pressure sensitivity in some programs.Google stress test the tablet you want before you buy it. Search for “tabletName” Photoshop problems, “tabletName” Mac OS 10.? problems. You will always find at least one knucklehead that simply did not read install instructions and then claims that the driver is broken, but usually you will also find valid complaints. Here is where you learn if you are in the mainstream or not.Sometimes if you can find a place where people are using tablets you can try one and decide if you hate that one or not. Sometimes people will give you a tablet that is older and you should take it and see if you can make it work.Good luck!

I can't draw well, should I buy a drawing tablet?

I recently started drawing and I'm not very good. I have Photoshop CS5 and I've barely learned how to use it. Would it be smart to buy a drawing tablet or should I continue to draw with pencil and paper till I'm better at it. Would a tablet help improve my drawing skills?

Should I buy a graphic tablet if I suck at drawing?

A tablet is basically a paper/canvas. I wouldn't suggest buying it if you're not good at drawing, however, logos and vector art doesn't require much drawing. If you're using the pen tool (in both Ps and Ai) you would just need to focus on getting your curves right together. A tablet would speed up your work, but art is all about taking your time so imo you'd be better off with a mouse.

Then again, if you're willing to take graphical drawing lessons and such, then yes, a tablet would help you improve a lot. Sometimes more than paper could ever do.

Hope this helps.

Should I get a laptop and a drawing tablet, or a 2-in-1 laptop?

I would suggest the Microsoft Surface Pro 6. Unfortunately won't meet your 15" or 14" screen. But it is a good option if you want to draw.

Should I buy a drawing tablet or an iPad for digital art?

Depends. If you like working in the studio, at the computer, in the professional Adobe-style art apps (Photoshop and Illustrator, plus Sketchbook Pro, SAI, etc.), AND you are ready to work with a table-surface tablet and a vertical monitor, which will require development of your hand-eye coordination, then get a USB drawing tablet. If, on the other hand, you prefer sitting anywhere BUT the studio, or even outside, en Plein-aire, and working with smaller, less powerful art apps in a fashion roughly analogous to drawing outdoors, then spend the additional 200–700 bucks for an iPad, a Wacom Cintiq Pro or Mobile Studio Pro, or a Surface Pro. All are digital. Both approaches (studio or pleine-aire) are valid, both have advantages and disadvantages. Or you could just invest in pencils, pen and paper and draw anywhere, anytime.

Drawing tablets for anime/manga drawing?

1. Wacom, Huion, Kanvus, Monoprice. These are some good tablet manufactures however Kanvus and Monoprice tend to be on the iffy side. Wacom is good but they're tablets are expensive (about $100 and up). However, many programs are compatible with it. Huion is good to and has far better specs than Wacom intuos tablets (not the pro!!). Also they have a much bigger drawing area (8x5 rather than Wacom's 6x3 for their small). On the plus side, it's about 60$ and up opposed to $100. However you'll have to know that there will be some programs compatible with Wacom tablets but not on Huion tablets.

2. Free: Gimp (apparently people are having trouble getting their tablets to work on the new version of gimp 2.8, so if you do use it, you might want to download the older 2.6 version which seems to work with tablets), FireAlpaca, Krita, Deviantart Muro (website)

Paid: Photoshop, Paint Tool SAI, AutoDesk, Corel Painter/ Corel Draw, Manga Studio.... this is all I can think of right now..

3. Yes, there is such thing as a tablet where you can draw directly on it. I think they're called "pen displays". However they are SUPER EXPENSIVE. There are some that are worth thousands and thousands of dollars. They're also really heavy and can't be carried around. They're like computer monitors.

4. You can just use your laptop as long as you have enough RAM and space to download the programs and drivers without anything lagging.

5. Yes, bestbuy has tablets too. Although they carry only Wacom and (I think) Adesso tablets. To be honest I don't know if Adesso tablets are good or not.

6. I'm somewhat good... I dunno... I like coloring better than drawing. As far as styles of drawing, I tend to draw birds or semi-realistic people. Occasionally I'll draw anime/manga. Oh and cookies!

& having a Win7 laptop shouldn't matter. Almost all tablets now are able to work on windows 7. It really only matters if you're on windows 8.

Should I buy a drawing tablet for my 11-year-old daughter who loves sketching anime on paper?

It is difficult to know whether she would like it more than drawing on paper or not. So the best thing would be to give her the tablet and let her figure out. If she likes it - it will encourage her to draw more and have a good time. And you don’t really need to spend $500 or even $100 dollars - turns out there is a lot of tablets as low as 23–30 dollars which work really well.Top 5 Best Drawing Tablet under 50 Dollars - Budget Graphics TabletHere are some good ones.

I'm thinking of saving up for a drawing tablet. Which one do you recommend?

Monoprice tablets are cheap tablets that have gotten good reviews. Wacom is the most popular tablet on the market and it is suppose to be superior to all the other tablets. Here is the system for their newer models, which you can see on Wacom's official site:
Wacom Bamboo Pad (512 pen pressure).
Wacom Intuos (1024 pen pressure).
Wacom Intuos Pro and Wacom Cintiq (2048 pen pressure). Only the Cintiq has a screen. Drawing tablets with a screen is very expensive.

The higher the pen pressure the better the quality. If you buy an older Wacom model on another site, be sure to check the pen pressure levels because they are different from the newer models. Go to youtube site and search the following words. These two videos will help you pick out a great tablet:

Which drawing tablet should I buy for hobby and casual animation? I am confused between Wacom CTL 672 and Huion Q11K wireless?

You can buy the Wacom CTL 672 for animation… I would not recommend getting the Huion Q11K Wireless because it is an older model and better tablets are available at much lower prices like Xp-pen deco 01, Deo02.Wireless is a good option but I would seriously not consider getting a tablet just because of that.In a nutshell, if you are fine with the small working area than the Wacom is good but if you want something with bigger drawing area and better stylus (in terms of pressure sensitivity) than get Xp-Pen Deco series of drawing tablet. Here is the article which I think will help you.Hope that helps…
