Last week, my mom called to ask me for help. She, like many of you, wanted to change her Profile picture to one that her old classmates would instantly recognize when they viewed her friend requests. You can easily change your Profile picture by moving your cursor over the upper right-hand corner of your current photo and selecting the link, "Change Picture." From there, you can choose among uploading a new picture, taking a picture with your computer's webcam, choosing from an album, editing your current thumbnail or removing your current picture entirely. If you want to use a photo in which you're already tagged, just navigate to the photo you want and select the "Make Profile Picture" link at the bottom right-hand corner of the photo. After selecting the photo, you'll also have the option to crop the picture and adjust its size. If you are a new user and currently do not have a Profile picture, navigate to your Profile and click on either of the links located underneath the area dedicated for a Profile picture, "Upload a Picture" or "Take a Picture." The problem is in the new photo's view , to solve this problem try do these steps : Solution one (working with Firefox , Opera , Google Chrome ) 1. Try Firefox or opera but i prefer Firefox 2. Go to ur photo album and choose the photo what u want but don't click on it 3. Click on it right click and choose ( open in a new tab ) to open in it in a page , if u click it with left click , it'll open in the stupid new photo view don't do that.. 4. Now choose ( make profile picture ) and you'll find it asking u to confirm it Solution two ( Working with any browser ) 1. left click on photo with the new viewer of Facebook as usually opening 2. go to next photo or previous 3. go back to ur target photo 4. press ( make profile photo ) 5. it will work and u can cropping it too ;) hope that help u :) Greeting from Egypt ( Land of Revolution )

I don't know why either, and it has been very frustrating, but I found a solution that worked, although it's a little tedious: 1. Instead of directly uploading via the "Edit/Change Profile Picture" route, upload the photo on on a different album, old or new. 2. Tag yourself in it. 3. Go to the album, RIGHT CLICK on the desired picture and click "Open in New Window" or "Open in New Tab". This is important, because Step 4 doesn't work on "hovering windows" the kind that pops up when you just left click a photo. 4. On the new tab or window, scroll down to the bottom of the photo and click "Make this my profile picture." 5. Facebook will allow you to crop it, and no matter how high-res it is, or low res (as long as it's not less than 180px in width, I guess), it will come out clear on your profile picture box. *SIGH* I just wish it weren't so complicated though! If you come up with a better solution, let me know!

Click on your profile picture. It will open in a picture viewer of facebook. On the right side below your name, near the date, there will be a symbol(by default the globe symbol). Click on this globe symbol, a dropdown of "Who should see this ?" will appear. From this drop-down click on "Only me". The globe symbol should now be changed to the closed lock symbol. Done, your profile picture is now locked.
