What Exactly Do They Mean By

What exactly do they mean by now 15% less sodium in salt ? Isn't salt NaCl

In chemical terms, a salt is the product of the neutralization between an acid and a base. In everyday contexts, the word salt has become synonymous with one specific salt, that is sodium chloride NaCl. It can be made in the following reaction:NaOH (base) + HCl (acid) --> NaCl + H2OBy using different acids and bases you'll end up with different types of salts. Because excess sodium levels in the body can lead to health problems, the idea is to use a different salt that does not contain sodium. Thus, instead of using sodium hydroxide NaOH as a base, we can use potassium hydroxide KOH. This yields the salt potassium chloride KCl.By stating that there is "15% less sodium" in the salt basically means that they have replaced 15% of the NaCl mass with KCl.However, the differing ions present in the salt will lend it a different taste. Many say that KCl is more bitter. 15% is likely a trade-off between reducing sodium content and retaining taste.

When exactly do people mean when they say 'you are who you are'?

I am concerned. I heard that often. I was told I was a nerd. I was told I could not communicate with others. I was told that I would never understand others people properly.I was told I am what I am. Someone who suffer from Asperger syndrome. That means that I have trouble with communication, empathy and that I have restricted interests.I had this diagnosis and the judgments of my peers at school. I was stuck. What did I choose to believe? I had a dream. I had a vision. I had something I wanted to do with my life.I just decided to do the opposite. It took courage. I removed all fears I had progressively. I even went to do public speaking. I gave a humoristic speech in front of more than 100 people. It was a success. People laughed. Now I can talk to anyone on the street.I make jokes, I laugh, I’m creative. I’m comfortable around people. I’m charismatic. I’m confident. I’m sociable.Well, it’s far from being the way I was. But it is close, right?

So... what exactly do they mean by meek?

Meekness is a kind of holding back... Like strength under control...

The original language of the New Testament was Koinine Greek - a common, everyday, marketplace language...

I like to think Jesus was talking about the new earth because the way things are nowadays with global warming, pollution, earthquakes, flooding, etc, who's going to want it...?

What exactly do people mean by a "missing link"? Do they mean the precise species that was the ancestor of two species? Would that be like looking for a needle in a haystack?

You need to get the exact meaning from context. Sometimes, yes, “missing link” means the exact species that was the ancestor of a current species. Sometimes it means the series of species linking higher taxa, i.e the species within the whale lineage. And oftentimes, particularly with creationists, the meaning changes in a discussion, particularly when our lineage is being discussed. The discussion may start out looking for a “missing link” between the chimp-human common ancestor and us. But when someone points to A. afarensis or H. ergastor/erectus, the meaning changes to the exact species lineage between the common ancestor and us.And yes, most times it is very difficult to find the exact ancestral species. For instance, there are 14 living species of penguin. All of them are intermediates from birds that fly to birds that live only in water. Over the next 20 million years it is likely that one of them will evolve such that their ancestors will live totally in water. If a paleontologist were to look at fossils from today, could he tell exactly which single species is the ancestor? Not likely. Now, there are times when the fossil record is complete enough that we have a series of transitional individuals linking 2 species. An example is in the picture below. Under those circumstances we do know the exact ancestor. In this case there were over 15,000 snail fossils linking the species on the left to the one on the right.

Filing for exempt, what exactly does this mean?

When you claim EXEMPT status on your Form W-4, you are certifying that you had zero tax liability the prior year AND you expect to owe zero tax for the current year. Given what UPS pays, unless you are working a VERY few hours per week you will have a tax liability for 2007 and therefore CANNOT claim EXEMPT status on your Form W-4.

Claiming EXEMPT means that no taxes will be withheld from your pay. If you actually do have a tax liability at the end of the year you will have to pay that in full all at once. There may also be penalties and interest for underpayment of taxes as the tax is actually due when the income is received, NOT on the filing deadline.

If you claim EXEMPT and your employer knows that you are likely to have a tax liability they are required to notify the IRS that you are claiming EXEMPT status and provide the IRS with a copy of your Form W-4. There are penalties for improperly claiming EXEMPT status.

When doctors say DO NOT REVIVE(d n r ) what exactly do they mean?

DNR - Do Not Recessiate. This is chosen by the patient - not the doctor, when the patient knows that they are in a life-threatening situation, or quite old. It basically means that if they start to rapidly die - do nothing to save them. They want to die peacefully, and not be hooked up to all the machines. How do I know this? My husband works in the emergency room & ICUs in a hospital in my city, and runs life support and puts tubes down peoples throats to make them breathe and sees lots of DNR.

Who exactly do they mean when they say "likely voters"?

You ARE in the pool of likely voters. You just haven't had your opinion sampled.

The problem with polls of "likely voters" is that they use records of whether someone voted in 2004 and sometimes both 2004 and 2008. First of all this does not mean someone will or will not vote in 2008. But worse, it does not include anyone who has registered to vote in the past 4-8 years!

There is really no way to accurately determine who is likely to vote or not.
