What Exactly Is Tiered Pricing And Two-tiered Pricing

Two tier pricing for Gringos and Ticos?

It happens, its legal, and it is encouraged. Two tier pricing is illegal in some countries and states but in C.R. its normal. IN fact, anything without a price marked on it will cost more for foreigners. And they go beyond that. Many restaurants have 2 menus, same offerings but the more expensive version is given to the foreigners. Many hotels print a price for habitations but gives citizens and residents discounts not offered to foreigners. ENtry to all the national parks and museums, etc have big price differences. Its no secret, the prices are right up on the entry gate. SOmewhat more deviously many private gardens, museums, etc. have the lower price in Spanish and the higher price written in ENglish, German and other languages.

It is often infuriating but it makes a lot of sense- most tourists can afford the difference , most ticos can't.

It also happens in rentals of houses and land sales. In every country that encourages foreigners to buy prices go up, often out of reach of the citizens. Costa Rica is a spectacular example of this.

Why doesn't Netflix have tiered pricing?

According to an interview with Reed Hastings, Netflix currently chooses to use a single, flat price to keep it simple for the customers. In the future, as the market matures, it's possible Netflix may add tiered pricing. This is based on public statements made on investor conference call. I have no insight into marketing or pricing. http://techcrunch.com/2012/04/23... In my opinion, the "keep it simple" concept may be especially critical for the international markets where the concept of "streaming" is still very new to people.

What are some good examples of names for tiered web app pricing plans besides "basic, plus, premium, etc."?

The general tendency is to create 3 to 5 plans that will cover different needs, starting with one-man army, through small business, mid-size companies, large businesses and enterprises.LiveChat - https://www.livechatinc.com/signup/StarterRegularTeamEnterpriseEnterprise PlusZendesk - http://www.zendesk.com/product/p...StarterRegularPlusEnterpriseBasecamp - http://basecamphq.com/signupFree planBasicPlusPremiumMaxShopify - https://www.shopify.com/signupBasicProfessionalBusinessUnlimitedI also strongly believe that plan names should be simple, reflect the target users and their needs. The average user should be able to easily understand the meaning of the plan name and the array of features that come with it.Being too creative when choosing names for plans can cause extra confusion in the crucial moment of the purchase and this is something you don't want to happen. One of the examples provided in another answer here was Heroku with their database pricing options:CraneKappaRoninFuguIkaZillaBakuMechaI found them very hard to understand without context and their names leave me not knowing what is the best package for me. Eventually, Heroku changed their database plans and reduced their number to the following version:HobbyStandardPremiumEnterpriseWhich version makes it easier to understand the target of the plan and the potential users?

What is meant by Average Cost Pricing in terms of monopoly regulation?

Average cost pricing is one of the ways the government regulates a monopoly market. Monopolists tend to produce less than the optimal quantity pushing the prices up. The government may use average cost pricing as a tool to regulate prices monopolists may charge.Average cost pricing forces monopolists to reduce price to where the firm's average total cost (ATC) intersects the market demand curve. The effect on the market would be:Increase production and decrease price.Increase social welfare (efficient resource allocation).Generate a normal profit for monopolist (Price = ATC).Sources:Average cost pricing - Wikipedia.

What are the best ways to offer customers tiered pricing?

With appropriate pricing in place, you can offer customers options that fit their budget, while at the same time influencing “on the fence” customers that your premium offerings give enough benefit that their extra price is justified.Dan Ariely talks about it in the famous economist subscription experiment he made.I suggest you'll review these two posts that talk about the effect of “Useless” Price Points and psychological pricing: The useless options helps your customers to find what they think they want, but actually it is helping to influence their propensity to choose an option that you as a seller wants to drive them toDoes Psychological Pricing Work? - Competition Strategies5 Psychological Studies on Pricing That You Absolutely MUST Read

What are the pros and cons of a two tier healthcare system?

UK (with two tiers)PROs:Public healthcare first means that all who need healthcare get it, regardless of cost, for free at the point of care. All doctors have to do majority of work in thr public sector, so expertise and innovation is always present.Private exists as an option for those who want a more luxurious service, reassurance from higher staffing levels, and (increasingly) to skip queues. Thus private gives the ability to reduce strain on public resources, both by taking on paying and insured patients, and by loaning resources and infrastructure to the public sector.Hospital trusts can run limited private services as an earner in addition to public services, subsidising public costs.CONs :People perceive private healthcare as the norm and public as the inferior, rather than public as a standard and private as a luxury.Private services undermine the public by contracting/taking over profitable services to the public, leaving the public bodies struggling to fund themselves.Government relies on the private contracting to meet demands rather than investing in public infrastructure or spending decent money on services, thus undermining services in the long run.Private hospitals are checked less often for quality! The two tier system as it was originally intended in the UK was a great idea, and the most workable. Underfunding and overreliance on private care contracting is the issue, rather than the system itself.

Wedding Cake prices?

How much should we expect to spend on a wedding cake with the following descriptions? (And yes, I know that this is a question for a bakery -- we aren't at that stage of planning yet, so I'm just trying to get an idea of what to expect).

*Three tiers; 150 guests/slices.
*In each tier, four layers of white cake -- middle filling is marzipan and other two are raspberry preserves.
*Buttercream frosting. Sides rolled in toasted chopped almonds.

Anyone know how much I can expect to spend? Does the description above sound more or less expensive than another cake for the same number of people? Is there a "least expensive type" of cake?Know of any ways to cut costs?

What is the difference between Tier 2 and Tier 3 at EDC?

I bought an Electric Daisy Carnival ticket for GA Tier 2. My friend had a ticket for the same tier but was forced to give it up. If she buys another it will have to be for GA Tier 3. So does this mean we will be separated at the festival or can we still go together?
