What Foods Help Sergeries Heal

Soft food ideas for a post-oral-surgery patient?

i had jaw surgery almost a year ago and had to eat soft foods for six weeks. i would recommend mashed potatoes, or even try cheese quesadillas, theyre soft and they taste good, especially when you haven't been able to eat much...you can also try macaroni and cheese (homemade is the best, but if you can't then just do box), hamburger helper is great too. since he cant suck on a straw (i'm assuming he can't because of the risk of dry sockets) you can buy some smoothies from smoothie king or jamba juice and freeze them for a bit til they are hard enough to eat with a spoon. soups are great, you can get a variety of them. if you have a zupas or paradise bakery/cafe around where you live go there and get some different kinds of soups

another thing you can do is get two pieces of bread and put some american or cheddar cheese on top of each piece, put them on the topmost shelf of the oven on top of aluminum foil, set the oven to broil and take out the bread when the cheese begins to bubble..this was my favorite meal...hope this helps.

What kind of food is best for you to heal after a major surgery?

Usually, to aid healing of tissues and such, fruits are ideal (some vegetables are good too). I am thinking major, with the internal organs…in which case, the body needs as little work as possible because it has the main task of attending to the site of the surgery…so no heavy eating. Simple, light, nourishing (alkaline) meals should be consumed. For example, broths (with garlic and other herbs that will help to protect against infections, while boosting/helping the immunity to be at its top performing level. Water us always a plus. ..even better if you can get coconut/jelly water…this helps to flush the system of waste and keeps the temperature of the body at its safe mode. All in all, fresh air, a bit of sunshine and gentle massages also aids in healing. ..All the best!

How do you heal a hiatal hernia without surgery?

I've got one too and have since '89.
No non-surgical procedures yet to help it heal back.
I too have experienced the shutdown in peristalysis (swallowing) that you spoke of. Next time it happens to you, excuse yourself and go somewhere private and do some jumping jacks. The gravity will help guide the food down your esophagus.

There are certain foods that I have discovered over time to avoid.
Yellow rice (saffron), is the worse. Be sure to chew hot dogs and chicken very well before swallowing and regulate the size of your bites. Heck, do that with everything you eat.

To take care of the indigestion and heartburn, the fastest treatment I've got is a teaspoon of baking soda in 8oz of cool water. Gulp it down and walk around for a couple of minutes. You can't sit down, you must walk for it to work. The soda neutralizes the acid in your stomach and creates one helluva burp. But it does the trick!

What food can I eat after sinus surgery? It should not be spicy or hot food.

Hello!!!I hope your surgery went well!! There's no need to worry about a change in diet for long, as after the second day following your surgery, you can resume your old diet. However some foods I would recommend are: warm porridge (it should be warm not hot), mashed potato/yam/cauliflower/sweet potato/pumpkin is also a good one, steamed vegetables ( they should be soft so it doesn’t strain any muscles), low fat Greek yogurt is good just as long as you don’t have too much as it can be strong, and warmed up fruits (like apples, pears, berries, etc.).Making your food warm and soft will relax your muscles, allowing you to eat them without causing harm to your sinuses. You can add butter to the mashed potato if you want, but you don’t have to. Make sure that the food isn’t too hot before eating it. If you burn or strain your sinuses, it will cause a lot of damage. If your looking for sweet foods, chocolate isn’t a very good one. You can still eat it, but you don’t want just that. It can strain your sinuses when eating, or become sticky and make you have to wash your mouth out, which would ultimately affect your sinuses. You could try low fat ice cream, low fat sorbet, warm fruit, and mashed fruit in general. Also, drinking lots of water will keep you hydrated as well as keep your mouth from feeling dry. A dry mouth can strain your sinuses as well as irritate them, so just keep drinking water.Different surgeries have different outcomes though, so it would be best to ask your doctor or surgeon as well. You could write a list of foods that were recommended and then show it to them to see if they agree. As someone who hasn’t had this surgery I don’t know exactly what it feels like or exactly what will hurt your sinuses or not. I just got recommended this question and thought that I could use the knowledge I had to try help. A family member of mine has had this surgery and these are some of the foods they ate, so that is my credibility.I hope this answered your question!! Thanks for reading,Bye!!!

What to eat after an Oral Surgery?

soft, easy to digest foods are the best thing to eat after oral surgery, especially within the first few days. On the day of surgery, sticking with water, tea, and juice can be a good idea. These neutral foods will sit well with the lingering anesthesia in the body. Staying hydrated is also important for a quick healing time. A doctor may also recommend that a patient use a mild salt rinse after eating, to ensure that no food particles are left in the mouth.

Soft foods are the name of the game after oral surgery. There are a number of deliciously varied soft foods ranging from rich eggnog to plain applesauce which patients can eat after oral surgery. Some of the choices include yogurt, smoothies, thin soups, broth, soft fruit, sorbet, ice cream, pudding, Jell-O®, and well-cooked rice. Cold foods like ice cream and sorbet can help with mouth pain, while pureed foods and drinks are easy to swallow, even after painful oral surgery. It is important to strive for a balance of protein and fiber when patients eat after oral surgery, since the temptation is to stick with foods like juice, which do not provide the necessary nutrition.

To get more fiber from the foods you eat after oral surgery, make smoothies with whole fresh fruit, and eat soft fruits such as bananas. Brown rice or other whole grains can be eaten as well, as long as they are thoroughly cooked. Some patients prefer to puree substances like these, to ensure that grains do not get stuck in the mouth. Protein can be provided in the form of carefully cut-up eggs and dairy products, along with nutrition drinks. Many companies such as Ensure make high calorie nutrition drinks to support the elderly and cancer patients. These beverages may not always taste superb, but they are packed with nutrition.

Is it okay to eat Mac n cheese after wisdom teeth surgery??? And how long does it take to heal?

I got them removed September 15(Thursday) and I've been living off of flavored yogurt with no fruit chunks or anything just smooth or whatever, ice cream (but I only had that the first two days), pudding and applesauce. Yesterday I tried eggs and tomato soup. The eggs were hard to eat bc I didn't chew them I just cut them up into small bites and mashed it on the roof of my mouth with my tongue and then swallowed them. It hurts to swallow and my mouth is really sore and doesn't open very much, I'm afraid to eat Mac n cheese bc I don't want dry socket but I really want something new. I got three teeth removed, and on my one side it was impacted and they said they had to use a drill (I wasn't awake so that's just what they told my mom) and that side they did that on us very swollen and has a big yellowish green bruise on my jawline and my other side is a little swollen too. But the one with the bruise is very painful. Also how long does it take for the wisdom tooth holes to heal and close up. How long until I can go back to eating normally? I'm being very cautious bc I don't want dry socket or food to get in there or anything. I have a really low tolerance for pain. Please answer thank you

What foods can one have after tooth implant surgery?

Hi…During the initial days after surgery, it will be difficult to consume hard foods that need to be chewed. This is why it is suggested to eat soft foods that are both rich in nutrition and doesn’t require much chewing. Also drink lots of fluids and eat small frequent meals for optimum health. Here are some of the recommended foods you can have during recovery:During the first 24 hours after surgery, your teeth and jaw will require some time to rest, therefore smoothies, cold soups, jello and puddings are beneficial for the healing process. Always refrain from using straws, as the force leads to strain and delays the healing process. Some foods you can have at this time include:Banana Mango Shake: Banana mango shake is one of the healthy drinks that can help restore the electrolytes and regulate the fluid balance in your body.Tomato Soup: Get the goodness of tomato with the great, tasting tomato soup.Applesauce: While you cannot chew apples, applesauce is the best way to have them.In the next few weeks, you will have to continue with soft diet to help with the healing process. Some healthy food suggestions include:Chicken salad: After chopping it into small pieces, chicken shall be eaten with a healthy salad. Whilst chicken gives us the protein for healing, vegetable salad comes packed with essential nutrients and vitamins.Broccoli Omelette: Broccoli omelette is a very healthy and tasty way of making your recovery process easier. Broccoli has calcium, sufficient enough to speed up the healing process, whilst egg contains enough protein that makes way for a balance diet.To know more visit Dental Implants Cost

Eat sticky rice, beef, seafood that make your wound(the place have surgery)cannot get heal fast ??

Did they say why?

I would think you would want beef and seafood because of the protein and the calcium in it. Fish and seafood is a good source of vitamin E, which is very important in healing both your bone and your skin or scar form the surgery. Rice is a grain, so you would want that, too, along with other grains. I would eat a balanced diet of lots of fruits and vegetables, especially the colorful ones, and I would also take a good mega multi vitamin while you are healing. Make sure it has all the B vitamins.

Get well soon!
