What Gcses Do You Have To Pick At The End Of Year 9 To Become A Photographer

Geometry transformation (will choose best answer)?

The arcs in the photo at the right appear to be paths of stars rotating
about the North Star. To produce this effect, the photographer set a
camera on a tripod and left the shutter open for an extended time.
If the photographer left the shutter open for a full 24 hours, each arc
would be a complete circle.
You can model a star’s “rotation” in the
coordinate plane. Place the North Star at
the origin. Let P(1, 0) be the position of the
star at the moment the camera’s shutter
opens. Suppose the shutter is left open for
2 h 40 min, with the arc ending at P'.
a. What angle of rotation maps P onto P'?
b. What are the x- and y-coordinates of P' to the nearest thousandth?
c. What translation rule maps P onto P'?

i couldn't get a pic of the actual star, but you can just search "north star rotation"

What do you guys think of photography as a proffession?

I am not a professional, but I have friends who are. I gather that it is extremely hard work. Also be careful to distinguish making a living, and being famous. How many photographers can you name? How often do you see pictures in the media, in print, online that have no credits attached to them?

Many photographers take photos for catalogues or menus, either repetitive headshots of people, or pictures of objects. These are probably not what you would call "art".

Wedding photography is a common source of income for professional photographers, but it is hard to make a living this way.

If you want to make art, then you have to be creative and different. That's hard too.

So in summary, being a successful professional is a lot of hard work, and a lot of luck, too. But if it's what you want to do, pursue your dream. If landscape photography is your thing, read about contemporary landscape pros like Joe Cornish.

Why does it seem like everyone has a talent but me?

Hi Benk

Everyone has a certain area where they shine, it'sjust some people have trouble finding that area. If you really want to do something, don't listen to what other people say. It's your life! do what you want! Trouble is, most things take practice. People like David Beckham or Ronaldo or Jonny Wilkinson didn't play like they do the minute they touched a football/rugby ball. It takes hours of practice, but at the end of it it feels great! I play 3 instruments, and believe me, I am no more musical than you, it's just practice! If you like drawing, then draw! If people say your rubbish, don't show them, keep practicing, and you will get there! You could also try an art course or something like that, just to get you started.

Remember, you do have talent, you just need to find it and nurture it!

School didn't tell me about GCSE exam... Ideas?!?

Stressed... stressed... stressed. Please allow me to explain...

I'm 14, and in year 10. (Please note this is a very small private school!!) We were given an exam timetable a few months ago, and Geography was one of the many GCSE exams we were to be taking this summer. However, back in February, we completed some Geography coursework, and we were constantly told by our Geography teacher (also our form tutor), that our February coursework WAS the exam that was dated today on our exam timetable.

So... of COURSE we didn't revise. We had no exam. I was getting all nervous in the car on the way to school for my maths and physics mocks. I revised all week for my maths and physics mock tests, which I was told by my teachers that I would have today.

I get to school at 7:30am, revise for maths until 8:30am, get in my form room, prepared, only for one of my female class mates to come in and laugh about saying we have a Geography GCSE. Haha, not funny. I realised she wasn't joking so went downstairs immediately to see the head... And yes, we had a Geography exam at 9 o clock.

Our teacher tried blaming it on us that we weren't prepared when we started complaining, after she had told us we had NO Geography exam for the REST of the year, SO MANY TIMES. And she even told us the exam listed on the timetable WAS already completed as coursework we did in February. So... we were STILL expected to go into the exam. I was moved up a year between year 8 and 10, so I never did any year 9. That means I had no pre-GCSE experience of GCSE level Geography. I was forced to take the exam...

With the new examination specifications, we are now only allowed to take ONE exam re-sit ACROSS THE BOARD, we cannot take more than one re-sit, no matter which subject. I already want to re-sit a maths exam I took a little too early... now what do I do? I KNOW I have failed this GCSE, and would be lucky to scrape an E grade. I am trying to compete to get into one of the most over-subscribed 6th form college in the country. I know I'm capable, but with this kind of atrocious rubbish, I'm getting upset. They think I can just come in one morning and take an exam with no prior notice.

Please advice as to what to do... 10 points for best answer. Thanks ever so much!!
