What Gratuity Rule And How To Apply For It

Gratuity - How much to tip?

Tipping is big in our house because my hubbys grandma was a waitress and she always made him promise to tip well.

I usually go by 15%. So in my head its $1.50 for every $10.

Tonight we ordered pizza it was $28 - I gave the driver a $5 tip, but then I started thinking that’s too much.

I'm kind of lost - Do you tip everyone equally? A waitress the same as a pizza guy?

Gratuity charge on a party of 2 @ 18%.?

Many restaurants now automatically charge a gratuity to every customer. Eighteen percent is a fair charge. The federal minimal wage for servers is (and has been since at least 1995) $2.13. That's not much money to live on when you're divorced and trying to rear 3 kids while earning your master's. Especially when the bulk of those customers are high school kids who run you ragged then fail to tip.

Be kind to your wait staff.

How do you distinguish between a gratuity and a gift. And how do you discuss regional differences.?

Hi Cammy. Might want to break open that text book and look under "slippery slope" Edwin Delattre covers this quite well in "Character and Cops" and well, I had to do my own research for my CJ degree and it isn't going to help you at all if you want others to do your research and formulate narrative answers to your question either. Know what else is scary, what if they're wrong? Bet your professor would get a kick out watching you tap dance trying to explain your answer when you didn't bother to look it up yourself in the first place. But like I said, somewhere between "slippery slope" and the specific departments code of ethics and rules on gratuities is where your answer lies. Might want to repost this in Education & Reference / Homework Help and I'm sure a bunch of high school kids won't want to do your homework for you either.

Look at the first responses you got, see what I mean?

When, if ever, is it permissable to take a gratuity?

If the company you work for allows you to take them, and if the customer freely gives it, then you may take them.
