Oh I understand your pain..! Synthetic dyes will ruin you hair for sure. They modify the structure of you hair to penetrate the hair shaft and colour it.Henna is a safer method as it is natural and chemical free. But there is one disadvantage i.e. your grey hair turns orange. There is a solution for this. Indigo powder; a natural powder similar to henna which can be used to get black hair. Henna your hair as usual and after rinsing it, Mix indigo powder with warm water and apply on henna treated hair. Leave it for an hour and wash it. The result will be black or dark brown hair depending on you natural hair colour.There are a few things to consider before using indigo powder.Apply indigo immediately after mixing with warm water, you don't have to wait overnight like henna.Wear gloves cause indigo will stain your skin BLUE.Indigo needs something to hold onto, so always apply it on henna treated hair as indigo will hold onto henna (orange + blue = dark brown)Do not apply indigo directly to hair without using henna first unless you want blue hair (grey hair turns blue).Indigo is completely natural and you need not worry. Should you get a haircut before or after you color your hair?
It doesn’t matter if you cut before or after, but if you are cutting off a substantial amount of hair, it might be easier to cut first. Why color a lot of hair, if you’re going to cut it off.Although most directions still specify applying haircolor to dirty, dry hair, some manufactures have updated their directions to include a light shampoo before haircolor. We’ve been told that shampooing before haircolor removes oils that protect your scalp and even though bleach is more irritating that haircolor, there’s no reason not to do a light shampoo prior to any haircolor.Dry hair resists penetration. Water swells and softens hair. Damp hair pulls the haircolor into the hair for better and faster processing. A light shampoo before the haircolor also removes dirt, oil and coatings from conditioners, styling products and hairsprays.Although you should always read and follow the manufacturer’s directions, some manufacturers have updated their directions to include a light shampoo before haircolor.See my video, why apply dry, when wetter is better.

Totally! If you’d given more detail I could give a better answer, but I’ll just be kinda vague.Take into account your skin tone (warm, cool, etc). Cool toned people look better with blues, deep greens, etc. Warmer toned people look better with reds, oranges, etc. Someone whose more neutral can use either. This is more of a guideline though, I’m very cool toned but have had orange and pink hair.If you’re nervous about damage, the first time you dye, look for a colour darker than your natural hair colour so that you don’t have to bleach. If you’re going for an unnatural colour, I personally recommend Manic Panic. It stains very vibrantly and keeps your hair soft, not to mention it’s quite cheap. It is quite difficult to get in stores unless you live in New York, so I’d recommend doing your research and buying online.If you’re bleaching your hair to get a light color, keep in mind that if you don’t want it to be really brassy, you’ll need to buy a toner (if you’re doing it at home, which I did). Don’t ever use cleaning/pure bleach in your hair, nor should you leave it in for more than 20 minutes or so. Also avoid bleaching if your hair is already damaged from heat, etc. It can be intimidating, but so long as you use logic and the instructions on the box, you should be fine. I’ve used Manic Panic Flash Lightning before and aside from some pink streaks (left by purple in my hair before I bleached) I was fine. After bleaching, you should start (if you aren’t already) doing hair masks or something similar, as well as putting off any hair straightening, curling, etc. When I bleached my hair, I would just put some argan oil in my hair after I got out of the shower. It takes 2 seconds, and it helps so much.If you are going from very dark hair to light hair, or want to do something complicated, go to a stylist, especially if it’s your first time doing any coloring to your hair.I think that’s about it….
