Why does Apple mail start up every time my OS 10.7 laptop boots?

Mail.app must have been set as a Login Item, meaning that it is launched every time you login to your computer. To remove it from your login items:Open System PreferencesOpen the "Users & Groups" preference pane.In the left side of the window, make sure that your username is selected. On the right side of the window, select the "Login Items" toggle.Select the "Mail" application from the list.Select the subtraction button at the bottom of the table to remove Mail from your login items.See this screenshot:

Error message: There appears to be a problem loading the email?

I can see the messages in the Inbox, but cannot open them. Just get "There appears to be a problem loading the email ..." in the viewing pane. Have tried accessing messages on laptop (Google Chrome, lastest version, cleared cache/cookies/hisory), cell phone (Android), and desktop (Mozilla). Same results on all devices. The last thing that happened before the problem started was that I got 10 copies of the same e-mail from the same person. That person says only one copy was sent.

Why does a (2) appear in the subject line of yahoo mail?

Hi Nesto,

That's part of the new conversations feature in Yahoo Mail. The number shows you how many messages are part of that conversation. You can disable this feature in your Mail settings to separate the messages:

How can one track whether a sent email was read? I’m using gmail.

You can set any email to use the read receipt feature and be notified as soon as the recipient opens your message. This feature works across most email services and clients, even for contacts who do not use Gmail.Compose a message using your Gmail account as you normally would.Click “Request return receipt” under the “To:” text box. A new checkbox option will appear.Place a check in the box next to the “Request read receipt” option and then send your email.Check your Gmail inbox later for a confirmation. It will come in the form of a new email letting you know which contact opened which message and the time your message was read. Also I recommend you to use Gmail integrated NetHunt CRM. This tool offers unlimited folders, records and follow-ups, as well as email tracking, calendar support and mass emailing. The app adapts your inbox with basic CRM functions. Emails are shown with qualifying information, and clicking on the NetHunt icon beside the sender’s name allows you to search for relevant records. NetHunt also allows filtered views of records.NetHunt allows for email marketing campaigns and a customizable sales pipeline. It’s offered at tiered pricing plans; a Small Business plan costs $25 per month for 5 users; various Growing Business tiers increase the price and user cap.

Got an email "Russian hackers mafia OWNS YOU" and opened it?

Got around ten of same in the past few days. It is sent to a huge mailing list containing emails that seem consecutive in alphabetic order... I always received it from a different sender, but all senders' addresses are really close to me in alphabetic order.

There is no links and no attached file, but I still opened one of them to read it, and guess what, the last one I received was sent by myself... (well, it does not appear in my sent emails, but, this is my address that is used as sender...

I do agree that the best is not to open it. May be some virus in email's HTML content, or simply an identity theft sent by any SMTP server... Would be good that yahoo does something about it.

If you forward an email can the original sender see that you forwarded it?

Only if you include the original sender with the forwarded email. In nearly all cases, if not all, when you forward an email you get an empty To, CC, and BCC address input box. The subject generally has “FW” or “FWD” added to the front of the email to show that it’s been forwarded. But ultimately, unless you add the original sender, the original sending will not know that you’ve forwarded the email. Now let me also say this. If the original sender included code embedded within an email letting him know exactly when and how many times the email has been opened, he will know. I see this with CRM software from time to time. But outside of that, with a traditional email, the original sender has zero knowledge you’ve forwarded the email, unless you include him as a recipient when you forward OR one of the recipients that you’ve forwarded the message to informs the original sender.

I can't open attachments in the new Yahoo mail interface.?

OS Windows 8. Browser: Chrome.
When I click, it appears "save to computer" but nothing happens.
All type of files (pdf, pps, jpg, etc, etc).
I have account since 2006 and never similar thing happened.
How can I return to the previous interface?

Why did my Quora digest emails suddenly start showing up completely blank when they've been working fine previously?

I am also having the same empty emails and sadly have not found any resolution to it yet. Maybe if i give your question some activity, the answer will appear!(Hopefully we both will be able to view it)
