What Happened To Vevo

Why does everyone hate VEVO?

I hate VEVO. Personally i think people hate vevo because. 1: It is slowly taking more of our rights to upload songs of any kind...including if we MADE them. 2: It has far the best quality which means..Because they can BUY copyright they can have better quality. 3: The ads ever since this happened everyone has hated the vevo company. Personally you may see it's free now. But later if its on there website it will be 5 payments of what to see this video? That includes the fact if you do buy it...you can't download it. If you tape and upload it, your video will be muted or blocked from all country's or Blocked from everyone. That means youtube is slowly going with the Vevo company and are ruining youtube. Everyone seems to want vevo out of business. So ironicly that's why everyone hates it Long story over. Short story: Vevo is completly CRAP!

What happened to Aaliyah's vevo?

I mean one day youtube had Aaliyah's music videos on vevo now they are gone. Does this have anything to due with that Aaliyah biopic? Is the family taking all the rights back? I want to buy Aaliyah's music videos on itunes but now with vevo gone I don't think I'll ever be able to.

How does an artist get their own Vevo Channel?

There are various companies out there (including my company JTV Digital) who can create VEVO channels on behalf of artists. The process is quite straight forward, it takes roughly 15 days to have everything up and running. As you may see in our FAQs, channels are owned by VEVO and the principle is to have 1 channel per artist (no labels channels). You will also get a mirrored channel on YouTube (with the form artistnameVEVO) and the videos are syndicated on various websites and portals all around the world (YouTube being one of many VEVO syndicated channels)Some background about VEVO:What is VEVO?VEVO is a joint venture music video website operated by Sony Music Entertainment, Universal Music Group, and Abu Dhabi Media with EMI licensing its content to the group without taking an ownership stake. The videos on VEVO are syndicated across the web, with Google and VEVO sharing the advertising revenue. The http://VEVO.com website is currently available only in Australia, Brazil, Canada, France, Germany, India, Ireland, Tanzania, Italy, Mexico, The Netherlands, New Zealand, Poland, Armenia, Spain, the United Kingdom, and the United States, which includes New Music Videos, Premieres, Concerts & Original Shows, Mobile Apps (iPhone, iPod touch, iPad, Android, Windows Phone 7, BlackBerry PlayBook), Connected Television (Google TV, Boxee) and user embeddable video players. Additionally, through a Affiliate with YouTube, VEVO is accessible in over 200 countries.

Why is Vevo racist :c ?

I like in Europe, not America, and I've been wanting to watch some of Evanescence's music videos & the behind the scenes of their new one, but it's blocked. It says:
"The uploader has not made this video available in your country.
Sorry about that."

Seriously? What the heck? Is there a reason why they blocked my country from viewing it? >:( Do they think we're going to steal it or something?

Why is "VEVO" written next to videos on YouTube?

VEVO is basically a jointly owned Video Hosting company by Universal Music Group (UMG), Google, Sony Music Entertainment (SME) and Abu Dhabi Media. Why do you see “VEVO” on most videos?VEVO basically works as a content aggregator is this case. So say if you are into music video production business. VEVO can help you brand and market your videos under VEVO label taking a x part of revenue as per the policy agreement. It was a nice strategy in the beginning but currently sees downfall as many video producers and content owners are seeking for own branded channel instead of co-branding.

What is happening to Demi Lovato s AMA performance?

Ever since the AMA s came out, ive seen artists put on their own vevo accoutns their own AMA performances, yet Demi lovato has not done that, and whenever some other channel posts her full AMA performance, its taken down within a week, im obsessed with the performance i think Demi Lovato did amazing, so I keep watching it, but one by one all the youtube channels that had the performance eventually took down the videos. Why? Why does Demi or her management or her record label not want her performance up?

Do artists have to be claimed by VEVO if they want to release their music on there?

In the majority of cases the artists with VEVO channels are signed to major labels. This means they do not own their own music, but do get a big cheque when it gets played, the more it's played the bigger the cheque. The artists themselves are not the one posting their music through VEVO, it is just a distribution channel. If I were working with a large company, and had the choice to post on a new personal artist channel or a VEVO channel, I would choose VEVO because it automatically gains you an audience through a proven business model. All your original fans will still listen to your music. People who do not know you, but trust VEVO, will be more inclined to try your music. VEVO uses algorithms so that when you listen to a genre of music on autoplay, you end up listening to VEVO artists at some point, so if you leave YouTube on autoplay for a party or an evening, VEVO is going to get 70–80 easy views. From a music distribution perspective, it makes more sense to be within that machine then be working against it.Think of VEVO as an equivalent to Spotify or Apple Music, strictly for YouTube.

Why is vevo taking over youtube?

It's a long story.
The three guys who started YouTube always intended it to be a site for ordinary people to upload and share home videos, shot with video camera or cell phone, with the users own sound. No copyright issues whatsoever.
Along come hordes of teens, apparently unable to read the numerous copyright advisories all over the YouTube site and even on the upload page itself, with their obsession for uploading copyright content - music, TV/movie clips, video game footage - which naturally pisses off the copyright owners who then proceed to be constantly complaining to YouTube.
The three guys who started the site never expected all this hassle. It shouldn't have happened. But there is sizable minority of teens so rebellious and arrogant, that they somehow think that website rules and actual copyright law (genuine law) don't apply to them.
The YouTube founders, convinced that teens had destroyed the site, got so fed up that they decided to simply give up, offer the site for sale and walk away.
Google snapped it up and, realizing that teens are simply never going to stop uploading copyright content, have decided to throw the site open to actual record labels and other entertainment companies.
So to answer your question, the founders of YouTube never wanted this interference, but the fact is teens have brought it upon themselves with their never-ending misuse of the site.
Personally, I feel that uploading other people's content (rather than actually creating your own video) simply to get "views" and "fame" is rather pathetic and shows how immature many teens are.

What is a musician's motivation for using a VEVO channel instead of a regular YouTube channel?

Let me be honest (sorry, my english isn't the best), the big advantage of VEVO is status. Everyone believes that a VEVO artist is a top artist, so if you have a VEVO Channel people will believe you are the best. Great for marketing! Some people think that if they get a VEVO channel they will become famous. That's a huge mistake. I can not remember of any artist who got a VEVO channel and got famous just like that. The truth is, VEVO is the union of the biggest music companies in the world (Universal Music, Sone Musica and Abu Dhabi Media) with Youtube. Every singer of these companies who create a channel at Youtube will create a Vevo channel. The best musicians are with Vevo, that's why it looks so wonderful, but if you are a independent artist or if your career is not going well last days Vevo will not help.Almost all of VEVO views come from Youtube, even the views of Vevo programs. Here in Brazil, for example, the biggest music channel created a Vevo Channel and gave up the idea after a while. He noted that he didn't need Vevo. So even the Vevo promotion depends of Youtube. And if you get promoted on vevo..com you will get very small results. But ok, vevo channel at Youtube is big and Vevo can promote a video at all the other Vevo channels of Youtube. Cool, right? But you will only get that promotion if you show a big potential (like a fanpage with 100.000 - 500.000 fans or more), or the video get about 30 to 50 thousand views in the first day. Well, if you have that you will not need their help that much, right?
