What Happens After The Food Stamp Phone Interview After I Mailed The Forms Too

How will I know if I am approved for food stamps after I did an online SNAP benefits application?

If you completed your online application, at least three things should happen (if no problems happen with the social service department where you live). First, a case worker may call or write asking for additional documentation or information. A hassle depending on your resources and whether you can get them to social services. Unless specified, send copies. Some social service offices are on the verge on chaos, and they do lose stuff. (Does one even have the money to make copies? A local library might have a cheap copier.)If you deliver application or other stuff in person get a receipt! If all goes well, then you will get a form letter stating you got SNAP, or were denied. If denied ask for a fair hearing.PS to all readers: as a one time recipient and now social worker/advocate, I think it shameful every time there is a cut in SNAP. Is this so no one is dependent on food? Believe it: the vast majority do not want poverty and would love work that really supports them!

Food stamps revoked because I didn't provide information?

I applied for food stamps or SNAP back in July/August 2012. So December we had to renew the benefits and fill out all these crazy forms and I went to the welfare office not once but 3 times in a 4 day period. They told me everything was fine and everything was ok.

I used my food benefits around Christmas time because of the holiday and for stocking up because of the snow storm that was coming. Then I had about $82 left. So I went to use them again because I won't back to the store right after Christmas and the machine said that it wouldn't swipe but still told me I had $82. So I was fine with that.

I got this letter 2 or 3 days ago saying that I was losing my food benefits because I didn't provide the information they asked for. If I wanted to appeal it to fill out the form enclosed and mail it in and someone will contact me in March 2013.

What would be a possible reason that they got revoked?? I filled out the form and talked to someone and everything so what could it be?? It took me 3 years just to get them, now they take them away in one fell swoop and act like I stole from somebody.

Any advice would be nice thanks

How long does it take to get approved for food stamps?

It should be all said and done within 3 weeks max. You first need to apply (you can go into your local office you may get an interview sooner). After applying you will have to conduct an interview whether it be over the phone or face to face, the interview asks questions such as residency, expenses, income etc. After those questions are asked you will have to provide verifications to prove those answers to the questions. The faster you provide verifications the faster you can get your SNAP. The last part is waiting for case authorization. Different states have different methods some have case workers who work individual cases and some do not. It depends on how many cases are being processed but it won't take longer than 3 weeks. My best suggestion is to stay on top of everything.

What are the worst interview mistakes you’ve seen as recruiter?

This is more of a general observation than a specific example, but it's a mistake I saw candidates make annoyingly often while I worked in recruitment.It's... not knowing when to stop talking. Either at the end of your current answer or - possibly worse - at the end of the interview itself. I suspect it's mostly down to nerves, but it can and does create a terrible impression to the interviewer - at the very least, they're thinking, "if you're this nervous at an interview, what will you be like in a business meeting? Or presenting to our MD?"From the point of view of individual answers, it also means that even if the answer you've just given is a good one, if you don't just stop talking then you run the risk of falling into that trap where your mouth feels like it's disconnected from your brain and words just keep coming out - which are probably adding very little to your original answer, if not actively detracting from it.And as for "stop talking at the end of the interview", here are couple of examples of real-life feedback I can recall from hiring managers following interviews that I'd arranged for candidates when I was a recruiter:1) The candidate displayed some great technical knowledge during her answers, but spoiled them by not quitting while she was ahead (see above!); then after the interview, in the lift (= elevator!) back down to the lobby - plus in the lobby itself for a couple of minutes - she kept talking and giving further examples even though the interviewer had told her he didn't need any more and needed to get going to his next appointment.2) The candidate (a different one) brought a big thick portfolio of work with him to the interview, which he didn't need to do because it wasn't requested; that would have been OK but at the end, after the interviewer had wrapped up and thanked him, he said, "Can I just show you some examples of my work?" and wouldn't take no for an answer - again, in the end the interviewer had to tell him to stop so she could get to her next meeting on time.In both cases, the candidates spoiled an initial good impression by not taking a hint and letting their nerves get the better of them. Neither of them got the job, unfortunately...

SNAP/food stamp issue?

Oh you're a welfare worker are you? so that's all that matters to you is that I'm someone trying to get some food stamps, not a single mother trying to make my way. Never mind the fact that I've been calling this woman for two months without a single call back, never mind that this woman missed the appointment we had.. because i didn't get her call (because nobody misses calls!!) I am the shitbag? I just checked with the girl i know, he welfare and her child support give her 200$ MORE a month than my disability gets me, and she is living rent free and she has no intentions of getting a job anytime soon, she gets 403$ a month for food stamps for her and one child on top of the welfare and child support. I pay rent, which they asked about and i pay utilities which they asked about- all which i pay (close to) on time every month, I have always payed my bills and I served in the service for seven years before I got a tumor that gives me constant headaches, the 1189

How long does it REALLY take to get food stamps?

...and what kind of hoops do you have to jump through?

Order of Events so far:
9/01 - application submitted
9/23 - first contact, notice of interview scheduled
9/28 - Phone interview, verification forms received by mail
10/4 - forms sent back
? - Received two denial notices so we started the appeals process.
10/25 - caseworker calls saying case is actually still open and should not be denied. Now he needs info for July and August.

Is this normal?
Why does it take so long? Every publication I've seen said they would make a determination within 30 days and it's been nearly 2 months now.
What is the purpose of getting info from a couple months ago?
What other crap can I expect before we get any assistance?

What is to be expected at my supplemental security income (SSI) interview tomorrow?

The first step is to figure out what type of interview they are contacting you about. This page has a list of theDifferent kinds of Social Security Interviews and Phone Calls. If it is an SSI interview or PERC interview, this is what happens:The purpose of an SSI Interview is to ask you financial questions and figure out if you are eligible for SSI. Basically, they are checking to see how poor you are. They also ask about your household, living situation, and rent, to help decide how much SSI you will get.An SSI Interview is just questions about your finances and living situation. If all you are doing is an SSI Interview, they will not ask about your disability, doctors, or medical conditions. They will not make any medical decisions. What Will They Ask?They will ask about your bank account and assets. They will ask how much rent you pay or how much mortgage you pay. They will ask if anyone else is helping pay your rent, food, or utilities. They will ask if you have any other income. They may ask about your living arrangement and who you live with.If you live in a house owned by a family member, or you are renting a room in someone’s house, they may ask about the total mortgage and expenses for the house, so they can see if you are paying the correct amount of rent. (For example, if you live in a house owned by your mother, and pay rent to your mother for the room you are in.) Alternately, you may be able to show them a letter from the homeowner stating that you are paying “fair market rate” for your area.If you live with a boyfriend or girlfriend they may ask questions to see if you are functioning in a way that is similar to a married couple, so they can decide whether to count that person’s income. This is called Holding Out as Married.Other Important Things You Need To KnowIf you are applying or recently approved, you need to know: How to Apply for SSI Without Falling into Quicksand. If you are already receiving SSI, you need to know: SSI Rules and RegulationsSome people run into problems if they have too much money in the bank or own too many cars or other things of value.
