What Happens If I Watch Too Many Movies

What happens if we watch too many horror movies?

That all depends if it is a GOOD horror movie…or a BAD horror movie. Watching too many BAD horror movies gives rise to MORE BAD horror movies being produced. However, that is not to say that a ‘CHEESY’ horror movie is necessarily a BAD one. There are some great examples of some really good movies. Toxic Avenger and Killer Clowns from Outer Space are excellent examples. The whole point is to enjoy whatever genre you like…share you comments with others…and hopefully everyone wins.Except for those of us, like me, who sometimes continue to look for the movie monsters or occurrences of movie evil for weeks after viewing the movie.I still enjoy a good scare…

What happens in the brain when we watch horror movies?

The human brain actually gets irritated or disturbed after watching horror movies. It happens due to the sudden appearance of certain disturbing or scary scenes that lead to the development of fear. The experience of fear gets stored in the amygdala of our brain.Amygdala is the part of brain responsible for generating emotions. How many movies one can watch in a day?

This question reminded me of last year’s Diwali season. I remember that it was Diwali vacation for 19 days and I was like a free bird because at that time I was left with nothing, so I decided to watch movies to keep myself entertained. The movie I saw was SAW.I found that movie too great. So after that 1st part Iwas curious to know the story of 2nd and that curiosity made me to watch next part. And than curiosity level got high and high. And you will not believe that I saw all 7 parts of SAW together. I locked myself in the room till the completion of entire series. My parents were like son amount of interest you gave to this series if you would have given 10% of that interest to your study than you could have been pass your exam with over 80% instead of 72%.But trust me that experience of watching complete series in a day was damn good. So definitely by this you can assume that at least 7 movies one can watch or more.THANK YOU.

Can watching horror movies affect a person?

No you cant end up killing people, BUt it can affect you emotionally, your subconscious mind is responsible for fear and anxiety, and it can make you paranoid . Thing is subconscious only understands with images , so if you fill your head with unpleasent images chances are you might start having unpleasant thoughts and nightmares, and if you fill it with happy images it will work likewise. Is there any advantage if I watch too many movies?

Thanks for my first A2A.Dear Anonymous,A few years ago, I was freshly out of university and had some time left before I joined my first ever job. I watched anything between 3–4 movies, daily, during that span of temporary joblessness. One day, my mother exclaimed to me:“You are watching too many movies. What purpose will it ever serve in your life?”To which, I simply answered, “How much is too much?”Let’s put my answer in perspective of numbers. Between the period of 1875 and 2015, a whopping 350,903 movies have been released in the world…and that’s just the number of full-length feature films. Surely, you can’t be watching ‘too many’ movies. As for the benefits, here are a few that I have received:I witnessed history through movies like Passion of Joan of Arc, Gandhi and Lawrence of Arabia.I achieved my dream of space travel through movies like Interstellar, Gravity and 2001: A Space Odyssey.I learned to be grateful for my own life through movies like 12 Years a Slave, Stoning of Soraya M. and Life is Beautiful.I discovered that true love exists in all forms through movies like Hachi: A Dog’s Tale, Brokeback Mountain and Three Colors: Blue. The point is that watching movies is an imaginative process that doesn’t have any explicit advantages. It won’t make you richer, but if you watch closely enough, it might make you wiser. To me movies represent countless human beings around the world, coming together, to give us a glimpse of their countries, their visions, their hopes and their sorrows. Yes, a lot of it is done to earn money, but even a lot more is done for the passion for life and the intent of recreating it on the screen. As an avid audience of cinema, you drive that passion for self-expression that has taken human life, so far. That is surely worth more than any advantage you will ever derive out of watching too many movies in your lifetime.

Does life get dull after watching too many movies?

There is the possibility that the genre of movie you watch may be the culprit.Action movies trigger adrenaline, romantic movies trigger nostalgia or tears, and science fiction can open a whole new perspective.Movies, like music, have a much bigger effect on our mental well-being than I believe we realize. There is the effect of viewing horror or violence in particular. Repeated exposure of any trigger leaves an imprint on your brain, like a memory. Just as in a dream, your brain responds as if everything is real. If your brain is imprinting fear, on a regular basis, through movies, it can cause PTSD.Therefore, if you experience a particular emotion while watching a lot of similar genre of movies, your mental makeup will be based on this influence. But that is actually the purpose of entertainment; to take you away to another time and place, to escape the ordinariness of life. Awareness of this gives you the option of deciding what you will allow into your mind. What you feel is normal and universal. Just as we enjoy the temporary thrill of rollercoasters, if the ride was endless, it would be sickening.

I watch too many movies which is hurting my time and studies, what should I do to stop?

First thing, it's good that you realize that theres some problem with your psychology otherwise you wouldn't have put this question. And am sure you are not able to come out of this problem also. It is very important for you to understand about what level of satisfaction you get watching movies. What is it in movies that attracts you, forces you to go and sit in a cinema hall.Let me ask you few things, give a serious note on this for sure: What you get from movies? What do you like to watch in movies? Who is the movie star that makes you crazy? Or you say that everyone makes you crazy? What type of movies you like? Or you say you like all types of movies? Why are you going to watch movies always? Are you doing any research on movies? I can ask many more questions, but let me come to the point now. Every time you watch movie you waste "Money" and waste precious "Time". Did you never realize this? You have wasted so much of money and time. You are only at loss. I repeat you are at big loss of your life, is this not enough to understand that you should stop doing this activities right away? You are asking how to stop? No one is going to answer you this, YOU STOP it, it's your Money and Your time and now it's your CAREER & STUDIES. Don't play with your own life. All the movie stars are highly paid in millions nowadays, what are you getting? NOTHING, you are a student now and not a researcher or critics working to decide the fate of movies. You are throwing your money - Infact you are making the cinema halls owner richer and richerAll the movie stars are super RICH, what you have? You are not rich like them. So what's is your benefit here? All the movie stars are famous, who knows you? No one, I repeat not a single star knows about you. So what's is your benefit here? All the movie star spend their time in shootings movies (which is their work), and you are spending time watching them? You time has no value at all?No need to stop watching movies at all, but make it limited and concentrate on something more productive in life. Movies are not life, it's a very different world altogether. we are living REAL life and not in a fantasy world- "let's do something productive" should be the motto of your life. Be serious and think about this. If you can take my answer positively you can improve yourself.

Can PTSD be inflicted by watching too many violent movies?

PTSD can be inflicted in a variety of ways. The name is discriptive, and works well for determining what you can get it from. If the violent movies were extremely stressful, in the immediate moment or just do to buildup, then yes, it's possible. Events like this happen in younger children sometimes.
