Is it safe for a Teen to take melatonin? (15 years)?

I know they only recommend it to 18+. But is it safe for me just to pop one tonight? I have had exams all week. Last night I studied in bed until 10:30. I went to bed at 10:45 but I kept tossing and turning all night. I couldn't get to sleep until one o'clock. i always have problems sleeping; especially when im nervous and i'm really light sensitive. 5 hours of sleep isn't enough to concentrate on an exam. I need 7 at least. It's a hard thing to do when I have to wake up at 6. Last semester, I popped a melatonin, and I was fine. It felt good. But I'm wondering if it can cause long term brain damage in any way? If you think I shouldn't take it, please give me some tips on falling asleep easier. If I go to bed at 10:30, what time should I stop looking at my phone or anything that sends light messages to my brain? Oh, and I'm not saying I'm going to take one every night. I'm just wondering if it's okay to take one like once in awhile for sleep emergencies. Thank you!

I like using melatonin. Its a completely natural chemical. All it does is convince your pineal gland that you’ve had far too much sunshine, and now its supposed to be dark.
