What Has The Republican Party Begun To Represent

When did the Democrats and Republicans begin to shift?

No, not exactly. The Republican party has always been rather conservative, especially on economic issues. However social issues, such as slavery were obviously a blue dog democratic notion back in the Lincoln days. The last "liberal Republican" was probably Teddy Rosevelt, who was very liberal on issues of capatalism. Anyway, the 20's saw a distinct divide between Republicans and democrats. As republicans became the party of "we don't think poor people even exist" really they just ignored the fact that they did, and so became a party of social elitism and all the wrought and destruction it may bring along the way. So the democratic party, somewhat under FDR became the party of the people, the majority of the people, and would continue to evolve into the progressive party it is today. However, it is interesting to note that their seems to be a shift of party alignment to the right over time. The Republicans have become far more right wing, and the democrats have shifted to almost what center was 20 years ago. I'f go as far as to say, objectively, the Green party has become the new democratic party. We may even see the demise of the GOP in the next few decades; Trump has practically destroyed its brand.

When did the ideologies of the Democratic and Republican parties flip?

There are a number of important historical reasons for this, which someone else may perhaps compile, but I will argue a simpler explanation. The Democrats have traditionally been identified as the populist party and the Republicans as the elitist party. I use both terms in value-neutral fashions and as ideological descriptors. In the 19th Century, elites believed in government intervention to build the economy while populists believed in a small government that maximized personal liberty. Slavery is a good example. Republicans saw slavery as an impediment to the economic and social development of the nation, while Democrats saw protecting slavery as a matter of personal liberty, or at least a matter of popular sovereignty.Entering the 20th Century, the spread of socialism and reform liberalism popularized the idea of government intervention as a means of promoting liberty and the public good. Teddy Roosevelt described this new idea as “the use of Hamiltonian [elitist] means to achieve Jeffersonian [populist] ends.” Therefore, populists and Democrats began to see government intervention as in their interest, and elitists and Republicans began to see government intervention as hampering economic development and inflaming class tensions.Of course, there are (many, many) exceptions to this rule, but this pattern holds for much of American history. In the past century, both liberal and conservative Republicans have often based their ideas on elitist values/ideas, while both liberal and conservative Democrats have based their ideas on populist values/ideas.I would argue that the most significant shift in American politics has occurred in the 21st Century as the parties have shifted their core organizing values from being populist and elitist to being liberal and conservative.I hope that helps!

What's the difference between Democrat and Republican?

i would like to know

What woman is most likely to be the U.S. Republican Party's first female nominee for President?

I’m a Republican. I’m a woman. And, I’m black. The woman I most want to see the Republican Party nominate to lead the United States of America is: NO WOMAN! Women are brilliant creatures, but we are not holistic thinkers like men. We do not run large systems. We are detail oriented. We run small systems (like families, offices, and classrooms) very well. I know some will cite anecdotal examples, but isolated examples are just that: isolated. Women are extremely narcissistic in the way we view our priorities. We are obsessive in the way we commit ourselves to minutiae. Most importantly (and I know a lot of women will not like to hear this), we don’t create the physical infrastructure of the societies we live in: men do. One simply cannot seek to maintain something that one did not create. This is self-evident in the feminist government of Sweden that allowed ultra-masculine Muslim men to capture large sections of their country. This is evident in Angela Merkel giving over German innovation and intelligence to mass Muslim migration. This is even evident in the “feminist” government of Canada’s Justin Trudeau who has all but opened Canada to a wave of mass Islamic migration. Men have not always been the kindest caretakers of women, but men created (and continue to create) the society around us. As women, we are the biological creators of men (God’s irony). But, we do not do the grunt work that it takes to physically create a society, to intellectually create a society, or to make the violent sacrifices that it takes to defend those societies. Women are beautiful creatures, but we should not be allowed to bring our form of minutial and myopic narcissism to the governance of the United States of America. America’s role on the world stage is too important. A confident-minded man, despite his flaws, is best qualified to look past personal minutiae and lead a large, multi-leveled, and successful government like the United States of America.

If Republicans hate communism, why did they choose the color red to represent their party?

Communism wasn't as big when they choose the color. The color red became a symbol of communism during WWI when Russia first became communist.
