What Has Typically Happened To Societies That Lose Sight Of Their History

What happens when a .50 caliber bullet hits a person?

Well I want to share the story of what I know the .50 cal sniper rifle can do.When I was in basic training at Ft Knox back in the summer of 2009, our Drill Sgts decided to give us a little break from cleaning the barracks and brought a projector in connected to their personal laptop. Our Senior Drill Sgt then played a video of a mountainside. It played for 15 seconds and virtually looked like we just watched a video of a mountainside. No audio, just a blank mountainside.“Did you see that privates?” asked the Senior Drill Sgt.“Uh… no” we replied.“Alright, next video!”The next video was a closer view of the same mountainside. It plays and you see virtually the same thing on this one. A mountainside. Then you see a white cloth fly out behind a rock. Still hard to see and if you’re looking really hard at a spot, you’ll miss it.Once again, the Drill Sgt asked if we saw anything but the result was the same as the first one and we went to the next video. This time, we get a closer view of the same mountainside but we barely make out what seems to be a Taliban fighter coming out of the mountain and places his rifle down. Before he drops the weapon, he literally explodes. His left leg was the piece of white cloth that we saw fly up in the air in the previous video (his robes were wrapped around it) and his right arm flew away in the opposite direction. We had just witnessed what happens when you fire the .50 cal at a man.Apparently our Senior Drill Sgt was the guy behind the camera and told us the story of how he was working with a few special operations soldiers and would check with a village to get an idea of where they would hole up. When one of the other infantry units was in the area, they took fire from this mountain and called it in to his team. He said that they might have been about 1000 meters from where he was and they were given permission to fire since they were engaging US personnel. They assumed that the guy went back out to see if the unit had fled and was going to drop into a prone position to view the movements. Probably didn’t feel a thing after that.

MODERN SOCIETY LOST itS values.???...EVIDENCE??

i think of that a great component to it particularly is the adaptation between own morals and company morals. As human beings take care of firms that are below honest, they alter into below honest to handle it. Do you think of maximum of folk who have been able to pay their mortgages might have abandoned them if the banks hadn't been bailed out the 300 and sixty 5 days in the past? some human beings declare that the only duty a company has is to its stockholders (and their money). As those firms fail shop their be conscious or violate by utilising regulations that have become custom yet no longer regulation, then human beings sense they have not got any duty to maintain their be conscious with those firms. as quickly as interior the habit of taking the low street with agencies, it particularly is in basic terms a count of time till the ethical line in basic terms gets moved--and starts to prepare to how human beings take care of human beings besides.

What is it about Chinese society that makes China such a peaceful country?

China was not always as peaceful as it is now. There was a century of chaos and wars before the foundation of 1949, like what is happening in some Arab countries. As late as the 1990s, it was still dangerous to drive long-distance because of the existence of vehicle robbery and highway gangsters. As I can remember, chicken got stolen from time to time then. Villagers fought over grabbing and inch of land. Things have improved significantly after 2000 especially after 2008. The reasons I concluded as such,Sufficient employment and business opportunities. As the rapid development of the country, unemployment is almost non-existent, especially for the young population. One can always improve their lives by hard working or smart innovation or clever investment. Few needs to risk committing crime to feed themselves. Since 2010, private cars started to enter ordinary Chinese families even in rural areas. It’s hard to imagine a private car owner driving his car to chase a chicken, isn’t it?Family-centered value. Everybody considers themselves a role in a family: someone’s father, brother, son, nephew or husband , etc. As they put their family roles in mind, they will think twice before taking action. Once grown up, a child’s parents will start trying to get him/her married. Chinese society don’t respect unmarried adults. If they are still young(under 25 perhaps), they will be regarded as immature. If they remain unmarried older than that, they will been seen as weirdos and losers. Once all adults are framed in families and marriages, it will reduce the crime rate. So the current gender imbalance could be a timing bomb.Tight social surveillance and control. In China, ID cards are widely used. They are required for a lot issues. For example, buying a train ticket, buying a phone SIM, all bank services, hotel booking etc. CCTV cameras are installed in most streets of the cities and shops. Police patrol are routine. It is easy to detect the criminal or catching them after being identified. This will awe the potential crinimals.Strict gun control. To show how guns are rare in China just keep in mind that only after Kunming Stabbing Incident in 2014[1] , Chinese authority started to arm patrolling police with guns. A crime with his bare fists or short knives can be defeated easier even with a bench like what happened in a big mall in Beijing.[2]Footnotes[1] 2014 Kunming attack - Wikipedia[2] Beijing mall stabbing: Knife attack leaves 1 dead, 12 injured

Has society lost its way?

Culturally, (assuming you live in the USA) society is being forced into a post-christian and post western direction by the people we have chosen to "lead" us. Jeshua taught we could all become one race as the children of YHWY, and as such we should treat all as our brothers and sisters. Western Culture, (Greek city state roots) believed the warrior class was not here to oppress the non-warriors, but to protect them, therefore the whole King Leonidas dying for his people. (how strange was that in the ancient days- or even today- do you think obama would sacrifice himself.)

So, most of the 20th century in the US was an aberration. At all other times in history, free men always were armed. During the 20th century men assumed they were free and yet allowed police forces or military forces to have the sole right to defend or investigate.

By the end of the 20th Century, the Jeshua teachings had been supplanted by organized churches which taught "get all you can, can all you get, sit on the can and d**m all the rest". So, the real influence of love your neighbor as yourself is gone. Also, the warriors began to emerge as oppressors, and the people chose this, therefore, the increase in Hip Hop and Hispanic cultures among all races, be they European or Asian, or African. Gang violence increases because it doesn't matter whether you are a Gangsta or an SD, the concept is the same. Both are warrior classes of non Western Culture. The goal is to oppress and suppress, not defend and protect. That is why you will hear the women and weaker men called whores and bitches.

The natural response to this is the re-arming of society so that there is at least an opportunity to defend yourself and your loved ones.

To reverse this trend, the government and our "leaders" have to embrace the cultures which brought about the brotherhood of the 19th and 20th centuries. But a part of this was nationalism which made us all Americans or Brits, or whatever. Now we discourage this concept and call it evil. With the recent election of a group of individuals who are openly hostile to Jeshua's teachings and to Western culture, it is unlikely you will see anything except a continued decline into a totalitarian despotic government in an attempt to control the violence which they have created by their own ignorance of the effects of culture and religion on human behavior.

Why are there so many people now openly hostile toward “Social Justice Warriors”?

SJWs are the left’s version of the alt-right.They’re polar opposites in ideology, but indistinguishable in practice.Consider the following:Both groups believe in racial segregation. The alt-right believes in a white ethno-state.BLM believes in black-only “safe spaces”. You can argue these aren’t racist all you want but the alt-right agrees in safe spaces designated exclusively for people of a certain race. That’s the point.Black Lives Matter meetings banning whites rankleBoth groups are willing to use violence in defense of their ideology.Neo-Nazis once plowed a car through a group of counter-protestors during a rally in Virginia, killing one person.Antifa riots and destroys property to de-platform conservative speakers on college campuses. That’s terrorism. Sure they’re a fringe, but polls have shown nearly 1 in 5 liberals agree with Antifa’s tactics!Poll Shows One Fifth of College Students Say Violence Against Controversial Speakers is AcceptableBoth groups believe cultures should remain separate. The alt-right hates minorities, even going so far as to argue miscegenation to be a form of “white genocide” (also see: alt-rights views on racial segregation).SJWs claim to embrace multiculturalism, but exhibit behavior demonstrating otherwise. In one case, a white mother threw her daughter a geisha-themed birthday party and SJWs completely flipped their shit, calling the mother a “racist” and subjecting her to a lengthy campaign of online bullying and harassment - all for the heinous crime of “cultural appropriation”.Someone Called This Girl’s Japanese Tea Party Racist, But Then This Japanese User Stepped InBoth groups are intolerant of opposing ideas and viewpoints. The alt-right believes in the superiority of the white race. Full stop.SJWs believe Islam to be above criticism.A bisexual grad-student was recently threatened with expulsion from college for acknowledging during a discussion in class that some Islamic countries issue the death penalty for homosexuality. What is something that is socially accepted in our society but doesn't make any sense at all?

Yes..there are a lot of things happening in the society which is senseless. Some of them are,DowrySeeing this since 2004 when my eldest sister got married. Till today in 2017 Dowry is an unspoken favor the groom’s people ask from the bride’s parents. And they ask it indirectly. I mean if You think the boy is very eligible and can marry the girl, is he not eligible enough to buy/afford the comforts for himself and his wife… But he/his family members indirectly ask for dowry in the form of cash or other material favors. This is something that still happens and is not sensible at all.Judging on Skin ColorAnother bane in the society. I don’t know about all Indian states. But in my states I have seen it a lot. And it is also irrespective of gender. If a girl is dark skinned/dusky then mostly her relatives make remark that it will be difficult for her to get married. This is totally insensible.Even certain jobs also discriminate over the skin color.Even guys are not spared. I am myself dusky/wheatish. And I get remarks from relatives which are really negative. I get them frm childhood. They even ask shitty question like Your sisters are so fair skinned. How are You dusky skinned…?! I just give a fake smile and keep quiet. In my state it is very prevalent. Girls(not all but most) even judge You over skin color as You do not look like their Prince of dreams and You are dark/dusky skinned. And to top that Fairness cream Ads have played a significantly negative role in shaping the mindset of Indian people that people male or female with dark/dusky skin color are not better than fair skinned people.Even it promotes girls getting jobs and getting better in life after using Fairness creamsSenseless Ritual of Wife Can Eat Only After Husband Has EatenSeen this bullshit happen in my own house. And also seen it very actively happening in my sister’s in-laws house. Women will eat the cold food after everyone else has eaten. I mean how senseless society could get…?WHY CAN’T EVERYONE EAT TOGETHER… ??!It’s the women who cook the food for everyone and they themselves get to eat at the very end. If in my life If I ever get married, I will make sure me and my better half sit together and eat.So, these were some of the most insensible things that are prevalent in our society and is also widely accepted in the society. These things need to change..!!!

What happened to you as a child that made you who you are today?

Thanks for A2A.What I am today, and what values I hold cannot be accounted to just one incident. Its through a series of experiences, observations and mistakes.Narrowing down to just one, that had impacted me severely.Me : 8–9years oldIt was school holiday. I was watching mum working in kitchen. She was making tea for everyone including all the helpers we had.She poured tea for everyone in cups. She went outside in car parking area, took out one separate cup n plate n poured remaining tea.I asked her why? She said its because grandma doesn’t like if tea is served to Rajesh in the cups we use. Rajesh was our helper to clean toilets.I went to Grandma, she scolded me for nagging her with my useless question. She told me because he cleans our toilet and thats a dirty small work.I had a habit to keep on asking until I was completely satisfied with the answer. She told me about the caste system in India. Told me that he is from low caste. I argued with her for all the reasons that he is doing our work, he is making our home cleaner, we should thank him but I was quietened by scoldings.I couldn’t digest. I was perplexed. I was angry.I was feeling - how is it his fault that he is born in a lower caste. And what feelings those people would be having towards society. But in my mind, I was sure of what I had learnt and how I had to behave when I grow up.No work should be considered ‘low or bad’ unless and until its not harming othersI will never believe in this casteism. All of us (irrespective of our religion, caste, birth place) are equal.

Is AI an existential threat to humanity?

In the mid 80s I was CEO of the first AI company to go public, IntelliCorp. The image above is for an expert system to diagnose nuclear reactors.   The idea that expert systems would take over jobs that could lead to dangerous outcomes is not a new concern.  I was asked then about the threat to jobs. Then came the AI winter and the discussion seemed irrelevant. Now it is back again. My friend Jerry Kaplan was then VP Marketing at Teknowledge (Ed Feigenbaum's other AI company). Recently Jerry has written a book that echoes back to those earlier discussions "Humans Need Not Apply". The discussion is alive again. What does this tell us? The fear of AI will not go away. Why? Because as humans we invent technology that often gets used to threaten and destroy lives. So the real question is this: Is AI the threat or is the threat staring back at us in the mirror? Last week I attended an event at Google sponsored by UC Berkeley School of Engineering on the Future of Intelligence. One of the panelists, Stuart Russell is a leader in the call to "keeping artificial intelligence beneficial". Some 300 research groups have signed an open letter ( FLI - Future of Life Institute ) to keep AI beneficial. We need to assume that AI will be successful and plan for a positive outcome. There may be another AI winter but then spring will come again. AI is here to stay. Currently I am working with three AI companies: one building an emotional reasoning system that will be indistinguishable from a human therapist (yes Eliza is back). Another is employing AI to accelerate the success rate of startups. The third is using AI to learn the art of persuasive conversations with the intent of creating an expert sales agent. Will we one day have an AI that can increase our ability to connect and communicate with others? I think yes. Will we one day have an AI that will be able to create its own startup? I think yes.AI technology will evolve. I agree with Stuart Russell that we can intentionally keep AI beneficial through a conscious and dedicated effort by thought leaders.

Did the 'Great Society' fail?

The greatest failure of the so-called Great Society was the creation of a permanent underclass, totally dependent on the government for everything, housing, medical care, food, the whole nine yards. The creators probably had the best intentions, but as the old proverb says, the road to hell is paved with them. The biggest mistake was that the system was designed to get people ON and not OFF. If they worked, they lost benefits they couldn't duplicate even with most decent jobs. Critics say it was no mistake, but a calculated effort to create a group of economic slaves who'd have no choice but to vote for their economic masters (i.e. the Democrats who created the Great Society). But its most lasting legacy is the nationalization of welfare, which had previously been a state expense. Welfare bums were moving to states that paid higher benefits, and leaving the states that paid little. Fearing a "race to the bottom" among states, the federal government agreed to take over welfare and free the states from this drain on their economies. Trouble is, the money still has to come from somewhere. People in all states now pay more income tax to support the federal government's largesse, and we don't seem to have fewer people in poverty, but more! One couldn't ask for better proof of Adam Smith's maxim, that if you subsidize something, you get more of it!
