What Impact Did The Rise Of Islam Have On European History

Discuss the impact of the rise of Christianity, Buddhism, and Islam on postclassical Eurasia.?

It seemed to me that Buddhism needed a man in power in order to cause the spread of Buddhism past the Persians, as Zoroastrianism acted as a blockade; they would kill those who refused to be in the Zoroastrian religion.

Some say there is evidence of Buddhism spreading all the way to Egypt and Greece, the Greco-Bactrian influence helping to act as a catalyst to familiarize the Buddhists to some Greek culture more local to the Buddhist's origin.

The impact was slight, however. As is evidenced by other religious expression in Greece.

The Gospel message was spread to Europe by the Apostles and other Christians who stood out in contrast the the older forms of religion in the Roman Empire of the time. It began in the 1st century, then continued to spread although the Christians were often persecuted for suspected possibility of revolt against the empire.

Islam impacted Europe by blood. It spread in violent fashion all the way to Spain, and north out of the Middle East through Bulgaria and other regions of eastern Europe. Islam was looked at as the invader, it never seemed to have lost that stigma in Europe.

Is the rise of Islam in Europe harmful?

The rise of any religion is harmful. Irrational beliefs are dangerous to society and while we have to allow people practice their religion (with restrictions if such practise would involve breaching the rights of others) we need to be wary to avoid the situation in the US where religious extremists have become very influential in the areas of education, healthcare and science.

History question. ? European imperialism on Muslim regions around the world?

-political weakness;

-economic and social exploitation and long-term retardation of Muslim regions;

-cultural plunder: art theft or buying priceless pieces of art from people incapable to evaluate them for private collections and museums in European countries;

-rise of European superiority: conquering once great Islamic World, Europeans believed they are more superior, causing severe social impact;

-expansion of European languages and culture in the Muslim world;

-establishing links between European countries and the Islamic World;

-migrations of people.

How did the rise of Islam effect the rise of Christianity?

Did it? I hadn't even noticed.

What impact did the fall of Rome have on Western Europe?

Yes, the fall of Rome had a major impact on Western Europe. The main problem was the loss of technological and economic progress. Medieval Europe was basically a set of regions with their own mafia don. However, the Dark Ages is a misnomer. Things were still changing albeit slowly.But the Roman Empire did not fall! It continued as a strong commercial and military power based in Constantinople for another 1000 years. It was strong because it was the terminus of the Silk Trade routes (note the plural).The term Byzantine Empire was invented by a 17th century German historian. The citizens of this huge empire covering present-day Greece, Turkey, et al, called themselves the Roman Empire! And they played a very significant role in trading primarily with their former colony, Venice.Why do you think Venice has so many magnificent buildings? Because they had an exclusive deal to trade with Constantinople. Byzantium was also significant in providing the scientific and engineering books that would help Europe transform from Medieval to Renaissance Capitalism and enable the first dome to be built (Duomo in Florence) since Roman times. History is very interrelated. I could go on forever. If you want to learn more see the TerraEncounters.blogspot posts on:Birth of Venice Fall of RomeRise of Venice Fall of Byzantium

Islam Change Africa, Asia, Europe in Middle Ages?

How did the Rise of Islam fundamentally change history in Asia, Africa, and Europe in the Middle Ages?

My answer would be that it changed their religion, but could someone please help?!

How did Islam affect Europe during the middle ages ?

Religious minority groups of the Ottoman empire were given considerable freedom in administrating their communal affairs. Each community had its own spiritual/political leaders who mediated between the community and the state. In addition to their communal loyalties, all members of society, regardless of their religion, owed allegiance to two Ottoman officials, the head of their profession and the head of their residential quarter. Religion was only one factor at work.

Historical evidence also shows that sharia courts were used by both Muslims and Christians. In a clever legal ploy, Christians in trouble tended to undergo a timely conversion to Islam in order to escape the punishment of their own community. Evidence also reveals that economic transactions were regularly carried out between Muslims and Christians; sometimes Muslims and Christians jointly owned property or traded together.
