What Information Do I Have To Send To The Dvla With The Medical / Renewal Form To Renew My Hgv

What are your thoughts on a law that would require every 65-year-old to retake a drivers test every 5 years, every 70-year-old every 3 years, and everyone 80+ once a year?

Thumbs up. More so now than in the past, and here's why. I'm not sure how old you are, but let's talk about the baby boomers for a second. In the USA a baby boomer I anyone born post WWII between 1946–64. The glut of newborns was so profound that in the 80’s John Naisbitt wrote a book called “Megatrends” in which he likened the course of the boomer's lives and their impact on societal trends to “watching a pig move through a python”.Now, there are a fair amount of retired/aged people operating vehicles right now, and I'm sure a lot of them are pretty good. BUT.. certain people should ABSOLUTELY NOT BE DRIVING ANYWHERE. My father in law is 84 and is one of the most brilliant scientists the world has blessed us with. I love him as though he were my own father. I will not let my 8 year old get into his car though unless my wife takes the wheel. I personally don't like being in the car because he's simply dangerous. He has mild dementia. His right hip and left knee are both shot. He has a hard time focusing,etc. This man decoded the gene of fireflies that makes them light up and it gave the world bioluciferin which is on it's way to help cure cancer. But that was in the 70’s. Today is today and realities must be dealt with. I KNOW this is not the case for EVERY senior driver, but if it were uncommon you wouldn't have posed the question.So back to the baby boomers. The first wave just turned 72. What do you think the roads are going to look like in 10 years? 15? 20? Get something in place NOW, and the issue won't be nearly as bad as it would be if nothing were planned for. Just see the reality for what it is, not what you HOPE it will be. Every once in a while, a simple test. It could save quite a few lives including their own.Peace
