In your opinion, what makes an MMORPG fun to play?

What makes an MMORPG fun is its community and the world built around it.The genre of MMORPGs generally tends to incorporate elements of fantasy games, so there’s the magic of essentially entering an entirely new world. The community is one of the deciding factors especially as MMORPGs are multiplayer - it really can make or break a game and can even, at times, make up for very grindy gameplay. It’s why games like WoW are still loved to this day and other games like HoN, less so.But I have to be honest, to label just two elements hardly shows the full picture. A game is a multidisciplinary piece of work, so to say that one aspect makes it fun is to disregard everything as secondary - I don’t believe that to be the case. It’s not just gameplay, the community or the graphics but rather how they work together to create a quality product. Now that I think about it, I’ll have to change my answer. I think what makes any game fun to play is it’s overall quality when all aspects are considered. The community should naturally thrive if that’s achieved.

Is there a fun MMORPG (preferably, fantasy) I can play that doesn't take too much commitment and isn't super competitive?

I personally like World of Warcraft. Now, wait, before you say anything about how this game requires a lot of commitment and can be super competitive, hear me out. It’s true that in World of Warcraft, if you are the sort of person who wants to be a progressive raider, or who wants to be a highly ranked PvPer, it really does take a LOT of time commitment to get there. Reaching such goals also means that you have to compete with many other people to get on the teams to do these things and, in the case of PvPing, you literally have to battle other players. However, World of Warcraft offers a LOT of opportunities for more casual players too! From the moment you create your first character, you get to choose what aspects of the game you want to focus on. If you’re really interested in exploration, there are many places to see and discover. You’ll even often find silly little inside jokes or other funny sights hidden in random remote locations. If you’re the kind of person who really enjoys the stories (lore) of video games, there is no shortage of questing and story to be consumed. The lore in World of Warcraft is incredibly expansive and immersive. Moreover, there are even many stories to discover outside the game, which makes continuing those storylines within the game even more fun. For example, if you were to read up on the story lines of the original Warcraft games (or even play those games to get the stories) and then watch as those stories continue to unfold in World of Warcraft, you get a much larger picture and understanding of the characters and the world in which they live. This also applies to any of the many novels that are currently available which are based on or related to the World of Warcraft lore. Another thing that may draw you into this game is collecting. Yes, you can collect MANY things in this game, from silly cosmetic gear, to toys, to mounts, to (my personal favorite) pets! There are a ton of pets to collect! And a ton of those other things too, but PETS!! :)The point is, I know that World of Warcraft has a reputation of consuming people’s time and, in some cases, their very lives, but the truth is, there is so much that this game has to offer which you can do at your own pace, with your spare time, and still have a great time.

Are there any good, safe MMORPG games?

You can try WoW with the other millions of addicted fans, but it is a pay-by-month game, and you gotta buy the disc. Trial: http://www.worldofwarcraft.com/burningcr...
Choose the right side.

If it isn't your fancy there are many free MMORPG's which you just have to pay to get extra benefits.
Runescape is also very popular, and also unique, and free to play, but eventually you might want to pay if you really like it.

An Amazingly Fun MMORPG For A 512MB Ram Computer.?

Ok...my computer has like...an insanly fast internet connection, but the computer itself is insanely slow...Unfortunately no matter how fast the internet service is. Without a good computer it's still bunk. I have a (As far as I know) 512mb Ram. I'm looking for an mmorpg, most likely a fantasy or fighter. I have Fiesta, Project Powder, and Flyff I really like games like that....I've done Cabal, Rumble Fighter, Manga Fighter. Thought about, but don't want to do SilkRoad, and a few others. I really want a good mmorpg, that will keep me playing for a long time! And won't lag as much as the others do.
