What Is A Good Bird Vet In British Columbia

Does anyone know how to care for baby birds? Theres a nest outside my door and the mother abandoned it...?

There are four baby sparrows outside my front door, the mother stopped coming back to the nest about days ago, I'm worried that the hatchlings will die, I think they are about a week old, what should i feed them and how?

My parakeet isn't moving, what is wrong with him?

I have a blue parakeet named "Zekashis". He will be a year old, this coming October 1st.

I fed him defrosted crickets, mixed with mashed meal worms for his last meal, a few hours ago, and cleaned his poop up from the bottom of his cage. He seemed fine. Energetic, and talkative, and happy, with a great appetite.

I went to check on him a short while ago, and he wasn't sitting on his usual perch. He was on the bottom of the cage, lying on his side, with his eyes open, but didn't move when I shook the cage to wake him up. He usually moves when I shake the cage, or even go over to it. But this time, he just was lying there. I checked his pulse, but I didn't feel anything.

Is he dead, or unconscious, or just sick, or just playing games with me, or what?

Does anyone know of a good parakeet clinic in Langley, British Columbia, or close by, that is open 24/7, that I could take him to, later tomorrow afternoon?

I'm really worried about him... But I can't find anywhere to take him right now. And I have work from 10am-2pm, tomorrow. So I can't take him until at least 4pm, or later, tomorrow.

Do you think he will be okay, until then? What's wrong with him?

IN ONTARIO, CANADA. WHAT LICENSING DO I NEED TO OWN A WOLF OR WOLVES? ALSO, HOW DO I OBTAIN A PUREBRED WOLF?

Ask around here: http://www.wolfdogforum.com/
Some of those people on the forum work with pure wolves and can help you.

@dont eat my cookie:
Wolves need about a few acres of land, not 50. That's just being ridiculous. Not even a horse needs that much land. A wolf eats as much as a large dog, and I know quite a lot of people that feed their large dogs on a raw-only diet, so it is feasible and not as costly as you're trying to make it seem. Education is key, not fear-mongering and exaggeration.

Wolves cannot be kept in the house, so you'd need a large $1-3,000 enclosure. Wolves are trainable, just not AS trainable as dogs (take a look at wild animal trainers, proof that ANY animal can be trained).

Wolves do need a constant companion, and you cannot fulfill this role, since you have a job and a life outside of your pets. Because of this, you NEED (and this is a MUST, not a recommendation), a second large canine (either in the form of another wolf or a large dog), to be a companion for your wolf.

Good luck.

My ferret is sneezing and wineing. What is it?

Hairballs wouldn't cause sneezing. You'll usually notice a good bit of coughing if they have a small hairball. Larger hairballs could cause blockages and with that some things you might notice are: vomitting, lack of appetite, weight loss, and skinny stools. If she's coughing, usually some ferret lax will help it pass (NOTE: persistent coughing can be a sign of something more serious, such as cardiomyopathy and requires help from a vet). If you notice any of the signs of a blockage, then you should get her to a vet asap as that requires surgery.

As for the sneezing, she could have some type of upper respiratory infection, in which case you should have her checked and treated by a vet. Sneezing can also be the result of a little dust tickling her nose - their noses are almost always to the ground, sniffing, so their bound to sniff something that tickles their nose and sneezing is their way of getting it out, just like people. Are you sure it's a crying/whining sound? My ferrets sometimes have little sneezing fits and make a kind of sqeak noise, but it's never anything more than some dust that's causing the sneezing and nothing of any real concern.

It's hard to tell based on what you say whether or not there's actually anything wrong with Alaska (what you think is crying and whining, my not be actual cries, but I haven't heard it for myself, so I can't say for sure). My advice - if you're really concerned and not sure what's going on, then it would be best to get her checked by a vet. Good luck with her!
