What Is A Good Love Song By The Statler Brothers

Does anyone have lyrics for Statler Brother's song Chet Atkin's Hands?

Chet Atkins' Hand
Words and Music by
Lew DeWitt

Thank you Les Paul, thank you Django, Thank you Merle,
Are you aware of one great gift you gave the world?
Beyond the craft your hands created on your frets
You had a hand in moldin' loves of Chet's.
You set that bashful boy from Knoxville all aglow,
Each time he heard you pickin' on the radio,
And even though it's God alone who made the man
It took guys like you to mold Chet Atkins' hands

Those hands that shook with fear like any normal hands,
Played smooth and sweet the night he opened at the strand.
Those unique hands that started life out splittin' rails,
Who'd a thought they'd one day fret from splittin' nails.
And who'd a thought that bashful boy form Tennessee,
Would one day win the hand of Grand Old Op'ry.
And who'd a thought that Nashville sound would soon expand,
From the love and guidance of Chet Atkins' hand.

The road to Nashville wasn't paved with iv'ry keys,
Espec'ly for and awkward boy still in his teens,
At times he had no one to tell his troubles to,
And no sunshine in the land of Sunshine Sue.
He played for money and for marbles and for chow,
He tried to sing, but Lord the kid could hardly talk.
But he spoke a language all could understand,
Though they will translate it through, Chet Atkins' hand.

Joy is an unemployed picker gettin' hired
And grief when that picker's always gettin' fired,
When he's workin' job to job and band to band,
And labeled 'cause he's always gettin' canned,
But ev'ry body knows it's grief as well as joy,
That helps to mold terrific men form simple boys.
And ev'ry body knows he's one terrific man,
Who head and toe and through Chet Atkins' hands.

So thank you Maybelle, thank you Knoxville, thank you Lord,
And thanks to who it was that showed Chet his first chord,
He's come a million miles since Knoxville and the Strand,
I'd go a million miles to shake Chet Atkins' hand.
I'd go a million miles to shake Chet Atkins' hand.

Which group is HISTORICALLY GREATER? The Statler Brothers or The Oak Ridge Boys?

The Oaks cast a big shadow on country in the late 70s and 80s (17 #1 country hits,2 of them reaching top 40 pop and A/C also and 4 gold and 3 platinum albums) and also had a big impact in Southern gospel music prior to that (from 1945-1976).

Likewise, the Statlers began in gospel (in 1955) and crossed to country (in 1963 as support act for Johnny Cash) but continued to include gospel in their repertoire. However, despite being the Gospel Music Hall of Fame, their "star power" in gospel appears to have come at the END of their career..they weren't a "name" gospel act until having had their country hits and crossing back in the other direction. Their country success is decidedly bigger than their gospel "hit power".

I'd say due to having large presences in BOTH styles, Oaks get the nod for historical significance. That being said, I usually enjoy the music of the Statlers a bit more personally.

Why do the Statler Brothers call themselves Statler Brothers when they are not brothers at all or Statlers?

Please don't answer just for points. I really want to know why they are called the Statler Brothers when not of them have the last name of Statler. Only factual answers only please.

What are good country songs with lots of bass?

Some of these are newer but they still have good bass.^^^Don Williams “Turn out the Lights And Love Me Tonight”^^^Merle Haggard “Ramblin’ Fever”^^^Brad Paisley’s “Ticks”^^^Brooks and Dunn’s “Neon Moon”. This one has a great bass line^^^Johnny Cash’s “Hey Porter”^^^Alabama’s “High Cotton”. This one has a bouncy bass line^^^Don William’s “Amanda”^^^Don William’s “Come Early Morning”^^^Josh Turner “Long Black Train”^^^Brad Paisley’s “River Bank” (this one has the most bass of them all; almost blew out the speakers in my truck with this song)^^^Montgomery Gentry’s “What Do You Think About That” (this is the song I blast when I am angry)^^^Brad Paisley “You Do The Math” (he combines Merle Haggard with Johnny Cash in this one)^^^Neal McCoy’s “Billy’s Got His Beer Goggles On”^^^Tim O’Brian’s “Long Black Veil” (I know this isn’t fully country, more folk, but it has the best bass I have ever heard)^^^Don William’s “I Believe In You”^^^Hank William Sr.’s “Kaw-Liga” (one of my favorites)^^^Dierks Bentley’s “What Was I Thinkin’”^^^Brooks and Dunn’s “We’ll Burn That Bridge”^^^Don William’s “Tulsa Time”^^^Glen Campbell’s “Try A Little Kindness”^^^Johnny Horton’s “North To Alaska”^^^Johnny Cash’s “I Walk The Line”In general, older classic country has a lot of bass. There are also a few artists who tend to have a lot of bass in their songs.Johnny CashMerle HaggardBrad PaisleyDon WilliamsHank Williams Sr.Brooks and Dunn also has some pretty good bass guitar lines in their songs.
