Topic Sentences?

I have to write a persuasive letter about school uniforms. I picked the side that said they were bad.

I have a problem with Topic Sentences. The one I have right now is "School uniforms are a bad idea." I know, I'm really bad at them, and that's why I need your help! :) At first, I thought it was a good idea, but my teacher might think of it as weird.

I think of it like, a statement. It introduces the topic (school uniforms) and it states my opinion.

Can you help me with some? I always have problems with topic sentences. I don't want you to give me a sentence. Just give me some thoughts flowing in my head? Something like that. Thanks! :)

Was Princess Diana killed on the orders of the British royal family as has been suggested by Mr Mohammed Al Fayed. Or not?

How do teachers prevent kids from using their cell phones during class? We didn't have cell phones when I was growing up. I imagine that students would prefer to spend time on their phones rather than listening in class. How is this managed?

They allow them to be used during every free moment. That might sound a bit crazy, but let me explain. You see, my school has a “bring your own technology” policy, which means that nearly every student is walking around school with their phone. Some teachers deal with this differently than others. A few teachers have “phone jails” for students to drop their phones off at the beginning of class. This is a solution that works, but it just causes their students to resent them and dread going to class. However, most teachers just don't really do anything, and tell them to stay off their phones during class. My English teacher, however, deals with this a bit differently from most. She uses a “strategic phone time” policy.Basically, the policy is that whenever she's talking or you haven't completed your work, you're not supposed to be on your phone. When you've completed your work and she's not talking, you're allowed to go on your phone. She announces before we start an in-class assignment that we can go on our phones after we’re finished. This system works well because the students appreciate her trust and the ability to use their phones, and the teacher has her class’s phone usage under control.
