What Is A Good Us Bread Comparable Nutritionally To Australia

Where is the expiration date of bread labeled?

The bread that I purchase at the supermarket (in Australia) usually has a small squarish plastic tag, (that keeps the open end of the bag airtight/closed) printed on the plastic tag is a date, which either gives you a best before/ use by date (expiry) or when the bread was baked date. Some tags are also colour coded, these variations in colour will tell you (if you have or know the key) the day that the bread was baked/bagged as well as have printed on them the best before /use by date.My brother in law and his wife (my sister) own two “Baker’s Delight” franchises in Adelaide, South Australia. They do not have an expiry date on their baked breads or goods, but, they bake fresh every morning, that day’s production. Then their bakers go home for some well earned rest. Their day’s production that is not sold on that day is never sold. It is either organised with a local charity or a farmer to come for the leftover after the close of business, or, it is destroyed. This ensures that the entire range of everyday’s goods are fresh that day. This would be the reason “Baker’s Delight” products don’t have an expiry date printed on their wares. That said I have noticed that other commercial bakeries have the expiry date printed on their plastic bag itself, near the bag’s open end, usually, but not always, some have a date stamped on the bag nearest their logo, mostly though there is the plastic tag holding the bag closed that bears the expiry date, best before date or the baked on date. These use by/expiry date/baked on dates are a recommendation, a guideline. Bread is actually better for you/your digestion the day after it is baked, fresh bread, while it is so nice to eat, will, if eaten regularly interfere with your regularity. Some people, perhaps seniors, will purchase their consumables once a week/fortnight to save themselves unnecessary trips to the store. They will freeze their bread, leaving out only what they need for that day/next morning, in this way they ensure that their bread is still edible until their next shop.Otherwise, the expiry dates are a guideline, your eyes and hands are a better guide as to whether the bread is edible or not.

Is wheat germ the same as nutritional yeast?

Nutritional yeast is yeast that has been allowed to proof (grow) and then it's deactivated. This results in a yeasty taste, but it won't do things like make bread dough rise. Wheat germ is the part of a kernel of wheat that contains the reproductive part of the seed (the part that sprouts when you plant a seed). They do provide similar nutrition, with wheat germ providing more vitamin E and the yeast providing mostly vitamin B.

Is nutralite table margarine good n healthy over butter? is it low fat? wht r side effects n wht r advantages?

Yes it is. Butter is made out of animal fats (milk) which is high in trans fats whereas Nutralite margarine is made from a blend of non hydrogenated vegetable oil and skimmed milk. It is one of the very few table margarines in India and indeed world over, which contains no hydrogenated fats unlike butter. It is cholesterol free and rich in PUFA/MUFA (Good cholestrol) and contains negligible trans fats as compared to butter It is, therefore, a healthier alternative to butter. Nutralite tastes and spreads like butter and can be used as a spread with bread, toast and snacks, but also for cooking, baking and shallow frying.

Nutralite vs Butter

•Nutralite is made from pure vegetable fats ( the healthier fats) vs butter which is made from animal fats ( which is rich in saturated fats which contains high cholesterol)

•Nutralite contains negligible trans fats( less than 1% vs 4% in butter)

•Nutralite is cholesterol free where as Butter contains 240 mg of cholesterol /100gms

•Nutralite contains 2 ½ times more PUFA and 1 ½ times more MUFA and 5 times more Vitamin E than Butter

Whole wheat bread that tastes good?

I have been learning about how bad white bread is for you, so I am thinking to switch to whole wheat. I've tasted it before (years ago I might add), and did not like it. That's why I've stuck to white bread. But I don't want to eat it anymore for it's lack of nutrition. Does anyone know any good brands, especially some without high fructose corn syrup?

All of those answer have alot of truth to them, as a former chef and having worked in Northern Italian restaurants in the hotels I was a sous chef in, it is full fiber, iron, minerals is low fat and is versitile.

A soft polenta is serve like mashed potatos, with sauce over it even just butter, and parmesan cheese, sometime a drizzle of white truffle oil for flavour.

Then there is the one that is formed or pressed into a pan and then when cooled or cold, cut into shapes, and either pan fried with oil or butter or grilled on a stove top grill pan, these to are serve with sauce or my be a platform for a meat or rarely fish item that has been pan cooked or grilled on the broiler or baked in parchment.
