Yes the ps3 outputs 1080p for both movies and games (hd eresolutions depends on game producers highest out for the game). The ps3 looks great on both non hdtvs and for best hdtv with hdmi 1.3a cord. For HDtvs smaller then 32 inch 720 is great for TVs larger then 32 inch 1080p is the way to go. fro hdtvs the response time should be 4ms no higher than 8ms (very inportant when looking into hdtvs in regards to pixalization and gaming lag.) .
