What Is A Really Great Place To Live In The United States

Is the United States a good place to live?

Let me give the facts. Or at lease I call them the facts. :)

It really depends on which part of the nation you choose to reside in. Ours is a very diverse nation. Two towns just a few miles from each other can differ greatly. However, there are some similarities.
Crime is not as great as you might think. You can generally live safely if you are smart. Our public education is pretty crappy at the moment. Social life is can be harsh, but generally we are very tolerant of others. The whole rich people have it so much better than poor people thing is only as true as it is anywhere else. You can get by on just about any salary if you're not a complete idiot.( I have all confidence that you are a bright individual.)

Hope it helps.

Best Place to Live in the USA?

Grand Rapids, MI! It's a good-sized city with lots of fun things to do, good schools, low crime, very clean and beautiful, and lots of neighborly people who take pride in their community and each other. Nice place!

Is california a really nice place to live in?

Every place you live, you find positives and negatives about. One should be realistic about where one lives and accept that it may not be the most beautiful place in the world or the friendliest, but has other virtues.

It is a little expensive to have a house or even an apartment in cities (I live in San Francisco myself), and if you wanted to buy a medium-sized house for cheap, you would have to live in a suburb or little town far from any city. The unemployment rate for California is 12% and growing, so there are many people who cannot find work and businesses that fail the minute they try to start up.

It does, however, have some really beautiful scenery in northern California, and has many historic locations. The countryside is not very beautiful - it has "golden grass", which is, at best, dry and sticky. However, there are many lakes and mountains.

L.A. and San Francisco both have many attractions for tourists, and I can say that people are friendly here for the most part. All cities, though, have bad districts, just like any would. Don't, whatever you do, visit Oakland, it has such a high crime level!

The strange thing is, I want to move to the UK... people want what they don't have.

Is United States still a better place to live than the rest of the world?

I went to the United States for traveling in the summer of 2015. I think America is a great place to live in but I won't say it is better than the rest of the world because it is just not that perfect for me ;)In terms of city, it differs a lot when it comes to different places. I've visited four major cities in the US. They are Las Vegas, San Francisco, Los Angles and Salt Lake City. They are all very different. I'd say Las Vegas is the best place for vacation with those marvelous hotels, huge varieties of entertainment and great service. But I don't think I'd want to live there because the weather is just too hot and dry.My favorite city in the US so far is Salt Lake City. The city is not so big to the point you'd get lost in it, but has everything you need. It is very clean and safe. And I know it is a very religious place. So I suppose people there are very nice to each other. By the way, the churches are just amazing looking from the outside as well as from the inside!!!My least favorite city would be San Fransisco. I feel really unsafe when I was there. Maybe because we lived on the outskirt of the town, we noticed some suspicious guys wondering outside of our hostel, which was scary. And based on what I saw, it looked like the city's infrastructure was falling apart. I talked to a local about the housing price of the city. He said that the housing price in SanFo was very high and the monthly rental fee of a small apartment in downtown was almost five thousand dollars. But I assume the high housing price is the problem every big city has. After all, it is still a very nice place to visit. And there are many places in SanFo I found worth traveling.Los Angles has different dynamic. It really is a city of film. You can see movie commercials everywhere in the city. It also has numerous movie theaters and two famous amusement parks.(Disneyland and the Universal Studio) It is a great place for fun. But I wouldn't want to live there either because the roads are too wide and the buildings are a bit far from each other. I'm the kind of person who prefer to walk instead of driving ;)What is great about America is its diversity. Places are different from each other. I'm sure everyone has their own favorite place they enjoy living in.

Why is America the best place to live?

I can’t answer for “the best place to live,” but I can tell you a few of the greatest things I’ve noticed having traveled on five continents.Nearly everyone speaks English, from border to border & coast to coast, & that makes it far easier to communicate & do business;we’re free to move wherever & whenever we wish;we’re free to worship (or not) as we see fit;we can say practically anything we want to say w/o fear of prison time (note I said “practically”), for example: I can call the President of the U.S. a complete ass, & no one will knock on my door;we have a very stable govt. in spite of administrative changes;at least on the civilian level, we don’t have to deal w/ bribes to get things done;we have top-notch health services available &, thanks to the Hill-Burton Act, access to emergency care even if we’re broke;despite the mass (hysteria) media), if one is thoughtful of times & places, we are relatively safe from crime;there’s no reason to starve w/ all the food that is donated (or even tossed out bc it is out of date);it’s far cleaner here than in developing or 3rd world nations;there’s still a lot of wilderness left to enjoy; &,we really are trying to improve our nation— it’s the HOW that evades us at the moment.Hope this helps, Daniel.

Is the state of Pennsylvania a good place to live?

Hi,

You don't say where in Pennsylvania, and it's larger than Mass. But like Mass it has variety of environments; mountains, rolling hills, streams and lakes. And from the eastern border (Philadelphia) it's only an hour to the Jersey shore. I am only really familiar with Philadelphia, as I grew up about 30 miles west of the city. I find that Philadelphia is very much like Boston; same sort of architecture, several universities, great restaurants and shopping. There are lovely neighborhoods within walking distance of the downtown area, and many historic and beautiful suburban towns. And it's cheaper than Boston. The Pennsylvania Institute of Technology is about 20 minutes outside of Philadelphia. The only other institute for engineering that I know of is Carnegie Melon University, which is located in Pittsburgh, about 5 hours west of Philadelphia!

Philadelphia is no dirtier or dangerous than any other major city. Of all the cities I have visited, (and I've visited cities all over the US) Philadelphia is my favorite.

Which is a better place to live: Sweden or the USA?

From a purely financial perspective, Sweden if you’re poor and the United States if you’re rich. The graph below indicates the average income of 10 different sectors of the population from the poorest to the richest. As you can see, the poorest Swedes make twice as much money as the poorest Americans. However, the richest Americans make about 1.75 times what the richest Swedes do. Sweden is better at taking care of its low-income people. America is very bad at it. However, if you expect to be a billionaire, your chances of succeeding are greater in the USA. The crossover point is around the 50% mark.Sweden has a very low crime rate. On the other hand, it’s cold and dark for half the year.

Is America still the best place to live and work in?

Depends on your goals. If your goal is to permanently hunker down and work one job for life with a lot of security, a few countries in Europe may be better. Canada, too.But don’t listen to the America haters on this site. They are propagandists. If your goal is to make money and be able to buy nice things with that money — and you don’t mind taking a gamble — especially if you have a high-end skill — the USA is not a bad bet.Of course, in this day and age, you can start a web site from practically anywhere and make cash, so I wouldn’t rule out much of the developing world. I may retire there, honestly.
