What Is A Time Traveller

Another word for Time Traveler?

Chronovator, Temponaut.

You can make up anything you choose. Try going to a translator service like this one: http://www.tranexp.com:2000/Translate/result.shtml and select the words you like and the languages you want to try, and see what you come up with.

I suppose it depends on whether you think time travel is more like flying (Chronovator) or sailing (Temponaut).

It also depends on how you think time travel might occur. If you use some kind of gravity resistent vehicle, a time traveller might be a sepulchravator.

If you travel through time via wormholes, you could try a vertroyager, but that would probably require explanation, if you're planning on using it in a story.

An eon-bridger, a tempoponter, an epochizer, an epochator, an eonator.

You might use these last if you want to create an image of a great deal of time covered.

If just a little bit of time: yearhopper, daytripper, a decade-crawler.

The possibilities, in english, are probably endless. Infinaut?

Could Jesus have been a time traveler?

It is possible, considering the universe at large is so weird... Would he know that he would be so famous? He could have come from the future with technology that only the "gods poses" thus making people beleive that he was godly, along with an amazing set if PR men like Jobe and Matt

Do you believe in time travel?

First...time is real. It is not just a construct of mankind's mind. The proof of that is that the rate of time can be altered by relativistic effects.

For example, at 1/4 light speed, one second on a spaceship would take 1.03 seconds to tick off as observed by someone on the outside, like on Earth. This so-called time dilation has been observed; so it's not just someone's pipe dream. If time were just someone's imagination, time dilation would not happen.

Second, the time line arrow points in only one direction...forward or increasing time interval. This is a result of something called entropy, which is just a fancy word for disorder. For example, when an egg breaks, that's increased entropy because now that once smooth well-ordered shell is now all over the kitchen cabinet in so-many bits and pieces that cannot be put back together.

Our universe is one of positive entropy, which means increasing disorder. Because of this trend from order to disorder, time can only go one direction...forward. In fact some models, like the causal dynamical triangularization theory, show that, without forward only time, our universe could not have formed as we now know it to be. [See source.]

Third, traveling forward into the future is possible using time dilation. For example, that space ship traveling 1/4 light speed would end up .03 years into the future after traveling in space for one year according to the space man's calendar.

So after a years junket according to the space man's chronometer, he'd find that his twin sister who remained on Earth would be .03 X 12 = .36 months (about 11 days) older than he is. Thus, if he landed on Earth on 15 December by his calendar, so as to be home for Christmas, he'd discover that it was already 26 December on Earth...bummer.

Scifi time travel is mostly fiction and very little science. Makes for fun viewing, but that's all it is...fun.

BTW: The fact that we've not met anyone from the future is not prima faciae evidence that time travel into the past is impossible. It might be evidence that time travel into the past beyond which time time travel was first created is impossible. Or that there is some law preventing an earlier body from coexisting with itself from the future. My point is, there are other explanations other than impossible time travel for why we've not met anyone from the future.

Is time travel possible?

It is (in theory) possible to speed up the time/travel to the future if you travel faster than the speed of light. Einstein figured this out. It would be next to impossible though. But some scientists think it can be achieved by being just outside of a black hole. As for traveling in the past, i watched a documentary where some scientists were making a time machine, by creating a spiral with very powerful lasers (don't remember how it works though). With it you can recive messages from the future but you cannot however use it to recive messages from the time before the machine was turned on.

Has anyone met a time-traveler from the future?

HA HA!Let me tell you an experiment conducted by Stephen Hawkings. He threw a party for “time travellers” . Actually what he did was he attended the party alone first and then after the end of the party he sent invitation letters to “time travellers”. But still no one attended the party. Now let me tell you some Physics behind this. The thing is that we can’t move back in the time but we can go ahead in time (if possible in coming future) as you may know there are many theories of moving ahead in time like moving at the speed of light, travelling in other dimmension , if possible going near a black hole with an instrument which saves us from being sucked in!!! But none of these theories support moving back in time. Hence no one could have met a time traveller as this technology wasn’t developed in past (else even we could have gone to future) and other is no one can come back from future as explained above.

Does a time traveller needs a passport or a visa?

In the event you are asked to identify yourself, you should be prepared to deal with what they expect in that time and place. That may mean faked or stolen IDs, or if you're not into that "prime directive" silliness be ready to prove you are, in fact not from that time.

(I'm going to warn you in advance: don't be tempted to borrow your grandfather's old driver's license because you look the same, the document has already aged and faded 50 years and it's going to look out of place among then-new licenses. Lesson learned.)
