What Is Black Swan Movie About

Is Black Swan a scary movie?

Alright, so I'm 18 and really want to watch Black Swan, but I'm a total baby.

The scariest movie I've seen is the Haunting, and I nearly died while watching it. The problem isn't watching the movie, but as soon as I see something I deem scary at all (ie dead body, psycho face, etc), I take it to the next level in my imagination, even though I don't want to.

So is Black Swan scary, or just psychological? I can handle a psychological thriller, but if there's any stereotypical, exorcism or the ring type horror, I basically can't sleep for days.

So which is it?

The black swan movie?

Well I think you're over thinking some aspects of the film, and under thinking others.

First off, Nina hears voices and scratches her back because she is mentally and emotionally unstable. She doesn't remember that she does this to herself since it is part of her disorder to not remember. The broken nail occurs from her aggressive scratching and perhaps self abuse of her finger as well.

Lily is the Black Swan. She is the inverse of Nina in every way; she's outgoing, seductive, carefree, an emotional dancer as opposed to a technical one, independent, the list can go on and on. The fact that she is the opposite of Nina and the "Black Swan" is highlighted quite obviously by the fact that she is perpetually wearing black, and Nina is always in white.
While Lily does things to undermine and sabotage Nina (talk to Thomas about her crying, take her out and get her high the night before dress rehearsal), she mostly seduces her *cough Just like the Black Swan seduces the White Swan in Swan Lake cough* and Nina fears her as the White Swan fears the Black Swan because she senses that contact with her will spell her undoing.

Her mother symbolizes Nina's beginning as the White Swan, and later serves as a point of contrast for the Black Swan Nina transforms into. Her mother is also, however, a bit mentally unstable which helps explain why Nina is, too. This is illustrated towards the beginning by her almost throwing the entire cake away in a fit because Nina tells her she shouldn't have any to keep her stomach steady for dancing. It is also illustrated by the many paintings in her room of Nina -which are creepy to say the least. It is no wonder Nina cracks under all this intense pressure to be "perfect" that she cannot escape.

Is Black Swan a horror movie?

I would say No. Although it had some elements of horror, I really didn't walk away thinking it was one.One of the aspects that makes the film so great is that it transcended genres without being in your face about it. If I had to choose one, I would lump it into the category of psychological thriller.(I looked up the definition of psychological thriller on Wikipedia - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Psy... and interestingly enough it states: " Also, occasionally this genre will border into the also wide-ranging horror genre.")

What is your review of Black Swan (2010 movie)?

On Rotten Tomatoes, Black Swan scored an 88%.  This is a meta-score based on 254 reviews.Personally I loved the film.  ===SPOILER ALERTS===1.  It introduced us to the world of high-end ballet with its drama, competition and extreme physical punishment which the dancers undergo.2.  It told a great story of Nina who undergoes a transformation which is necessary for the perfect ballet performance that she delivers at the end.3.  It is a psycho-thriller - which I love. One let down which I had was the manner of the mental breakdown experienced by Nina.  She experiences severe hallucinations and melds another character with her own projection of the dancer she needs to be.  The problem with the hallucinations as depicted was that they were too deep - too drawn out.  Hallucinations should not be full-blown events and story lines (murder in the back dressing room at the night of the final performance & sleeping with Lily).I would have been tremendously more satisfied if the screenwriter had set her up to have a self-driven multiple personality - similar to Fight Club for instance.  For instance, if she were to discover at the end that Lily was a complete figment-of-her-imagination, then the hallucinations could have been better explained.

Black swan a confusing movie?

can someone tell me what happens in this movie i mean i didnt get why the girl used to scretch her back what was it .
when did she kill her self
we didnt see when she stub the mirror part in her stomach
who used to bother her
was there any ghost

What does the movie Black Swan really mean?

I just watched the movie a while ago and I got really confused why she hallucinated that she and Lily kissed and um, did some stuff.. Is she lesbian or what? In the beginning why did she have some rash? And was it also her hallucination when her instructor and Lily made love? What does her instructor have to do with her life? Why did he kissed and seduced her? And after she took the role black swan, why did she kiss her instructor? What does the ending mean when she was found bleeding and said she was 'perfect'? What does her hallucinations mean?

I would really appreciate your help, thanks.

What was the best thing about the movie Black Swan?

The movie carefully studies each formal element of narrative but I believe that in spite of being an outstanding movie,it recurrs to effects that have been used before. Instead on the wide-view of the picture, the best thing was its overall narrative tempo from beginning to end. It was a cinematographic rollercoaste ride in perfect preparation to the actual staging of the 'Black Swan' ballet play that unfolded only in the end of the movie, where the whole preceding story is reshaped in less than 10 minutes.

I dont understand the movie the black swan?

Who is the other girl that looks just like natalie portman, what are the scratches on her back and why does she peel her skin off her finger then it never really happend, same thing with her and the other girl in the sex scene, it doesnt really happen, then she thinks she kills the dark haired girl but she really cut herself. Im confused with this whole movie, can someone please break it down for me?

What is the message behind the movie Black Swan?

ref: Black Swan ExplainedThe central theme is around two character types - a gentle, innocent person. And a seductive confident one. This is basically the white swan and black swan respectively. These are the two characters from the ballet - Swan Lake, that they are rehearsing for.Over the century the standard practice for all productions has been to cast the same ballerina as the White and Black Swan. Thomas intends to do the same.Nina is picked to play both the White and Black swan. Nina is more like the white swan and is unable to let herself lose to play the part of the black swan effectively. The movie shows us the extent of mental and physical strain and transformation that a person like Nina has to go through to get the final act right. The movie also shows us the repercussions of putting oneself through such strain.
