What Is Causing My Sore Throat And Headache

Can tmj cause headaches and sore throat?

So about a month ago i heard clicking and popping sound coming from my right jaw. It didnt really worry me until one day i woke up with a lock jaw. It went on from a couple of days to weeks. Basically, each time i wake up in the morning, i'll have lock jaw but NO PAIN. I'm not really sure whether its tmj or not since i didnt developed any pain until 2 days ago. I woke up with a lock jaw as usual, and it hurts when i moved it. Now, not only i have lock jaw in the morning but my jaws will just randomly lock it self during any time of the day. I had severe headaches at the back of my head, under my right ear and sore throat ever since then. I dont know whether its tension headaches or "tmj" headaches. Im only 15, its making me hard to do my usually routine. I have a dental appointment next week on tuesday since they are closed for the christmas so what should i expect? Are these frequent headaches and sore throat are part of the tmj thing? Thank you sooooooooo much

Poll! sore throat or headache?

Sore throat, I hate headaches! Unless it's like strep throat sore cause then it hurts so bad you can't swallow, in that case, a headache.

I have a headache, sore throat, ear ache and am feeling very fatigued. Help!?

Since yesterday I have been having a slight headache (which really just feels like a dull throbbing feeling in my temples and the back of my head) which causes me pain whenever I turn quickly. Simultaneously, I have severe throat pain on the left side of my throat which is starting to feel slightly swollen when I touch it (and it's getting worse on the right side too!) and a blocked feeling in my left ear (which, like the throat, is beginning to hurt on the other side). I feel very tired and lethargic, and sometimes feel rather dizzy even if I take a nap. Im out of painkillers in the house...does anyone have any suggestions or remedies to help??

What could possibly cause a headache and sore throat but no fever?

Most likely sinus drainage or possibly strep throat. If the sore throat is worse first thing in the morning, then drainage is the most likely culprit. If the headache worsens significantly when putting your head down or causes facial or teeth pain, then it may have progressed to a sinus infection. The other less likely culprit that can cause headache and sore throat is a dental abscess/infection.

What causes a sore throat, sinus headaches, and bloody mucus?

Antibiotics will kill the infection, but you can still put up a fight besides that! Here are tips that help me when I'm fighting a cold, respiratory infection, or flu.....

OVER THE COUNTER MEDS:
take a sinus decongestant containing Phenylephrine 5mg. you don't necessarily need all the extras it's often mixed with.
but if you want some extras, here you go: Guaifenisen (Mucinex is the brand name, but it's way cheaper at dollar stores. always read ingredients!!) liquefies your mucus so it's much easier to expel. But you have to drink TONS of water or it won't work, and you must be near a bathroom because it makes you pee a lot. (yet causes constipation... another reason to stay hydrated!)
Ibuprofen is an excellent anti-inflammatory, but it's strong, so alternate it with Acetaminophen as needed for pain, pressure, and headaches.

ESSENTIALS:

stay home. (even one day can make a difference to your immune system. plus, you'll keep your germs to yourself.)
sleep. (bolsters up your immune system)
drink plenty of water. (8 8oz servings a day=bare minimum!!) (pee out those germs and flush 'em away!!)
take vitamin C, zinc, and echinacea. (also strengthen the immune system)
eat too much garlic. (sorry, but it really is great for your health! and it will give you a good reason to stay home. :) )
wash hands well and often. use moisturizing lotion or hand sanitizer to keep from cracking your hands to bits.
avoid milk and chocolate. dairy foods will thicken your mucus and make your fight that much harder.

the meds and garlic are harsh, so don't take them on an empty stomach. i hope you allow yourself some time to feel better soon! take care.

also i just learned a new tip from John Popper of Blues Traveler: very hot water, cayenne pepper, white vinegar, and honey. SOUNDS GROSS!!! he gargles it and spits up all kinds of nasty crap. might be worth a shot, but don't hurt your vocals! to be safe maybe just drink hot water with lemon and honey. that works too, and it's much more pleasant.

COUGHING FITS:
you will benefit most from the mucinex and water. (generic is fine... but don't take any DEXTROMETHORPHAN (cough suppressant) during the day. take it at night so you can stop coughing and get some rest. during the day, you need to drink a ton of water and break that crap up so it will leave you alone!)

Sore throat, Cold, Runny Nose, Headache..?

hi there.

all your systems are all symptoms of a cold or allergies.

the cough and sore throat can be secondary conditions caused by your allergies. what happens is, you have a runny nose, this will cause post-nasal drip, irritating your throat, causing a cough, which causes a sore throat.

hot/cold flashes indicate a cold, and are not associated with allergies.

your symptoms will not "become" a virus. nothing "becomes" a virus. you either catch one, or don't. a cold is a type of virus, and there are no known proven cures for them. you can only treat the symptoms themselves, by resting, staying well hydrated (stay away from caffeine, water is best), drinking warm tea or theraflu, using throat sprays or cough drops, etc.

you should schedule an appointment with your physician if you develop a high fever (100 or higher), begin to vomit, have difficulty breathing, or develop other more serious symptoms, because you may actually have the flu instead of just a cold. again, there's no cure for the flu either, since it's a virus, treatment would be supportive care, same as the cold, but you'd want a physician to check you out in case you may be developing pneumonia or something else altogether. also, they can prescribe medication that will work a lot better than OTCs.

rest well

How can you treat a headache and sore throat but no fever?

Drink lots of water since headaches generally occur when the water content in your body gets depleted. Also have half teaspoon of turmeric with luke warm water atleast 4 times a day. keep drinking hot water throughout and within a day, you will be sorted out.All the best
